Clearvision Eye Clinic & LASIK Centre was established in 2001 simply as a LASIK centre. Now, it is the go-to place for laser vision correction treatments.

Founder Dr Tony Ho was named one of the best reviewed doctors in 2020, and Clearvision Eye Clinic & LASIK Centre received the Singapore Prestige Brand Award 15.

Dr Ho has around 25 years of experience. So, you may be wondering why he was recognised as a best reviewed doctor only in 2020.

The deciding moment happened in 2019. That was when Dr Ho decided to undergo TransPRK surgery.

You know how you feel not so confident when your hair stylist has bad hair? The same thing apparently works when the eye surgeon correcting your vision is wearing eyeglasses.

After his operation, Dr Ho has been trying harder to make the procedure more comfortable for patients. We guess, in this case, experience is indeed the best teacher.

A number of his patients claim that he puts them at ease and really walks them through the process. Dr Ho makes them feel that they are in good hands, just as he did for us.

Anyway, the Safe Sight TransPRK and ReLEX SMILE treatments are minimally invasive and guarantee no flap-related complications.

For the former, the technology used even guarantees touch-free treatment. The procedure can be done on one eye for around 5 minutes; ordering from a fast food chain takes longer!

Many patients shared with us how smooth and painless their procedures have been. We say sign us in for pain-free treatment and excellent service from the doctor and staff.

Apart from flapless and bladeless treatments, the centre offers other services for patients with damaged or thin corneas. Everyone with an eye concern is welcome in this clinic.

TransPRK and Femto-LASIK cost $3,988 for both eyes. Typically, LASIK surgery in Singapore costs $3,000 to $4,500.

Seeing that these procedures use the latest technology, the price is reasonable especially as it already includes three months of follow-up reviews and the initial set of medications.

So far, we only had good things to say about Dr Ho and the centre. We can easily see why it is popular and well-reputed.

This leads to more patients, which means longer waiting times. Some patients mentioned that they would wait for hours to be checked, but the actual consultation was less than 10 minutes.

Being available on the weekends may help with this situation. People who cannot leave work or school can also benefit with this change in schedule.

Nevertheless, if you are willing to wait and can make yourself available on weekdays, then you can definitely trust in Clearvision Eye Clinic & LASIK Centre for a clear vision.

Pros

  • Best review doctor in 2020
  • Flapless and bladeless procedures
  • Several options for refractive surgery
  • Latest technology
  • Reasonably priced treatments

Cons

  • Longer waiting times
  • Closed on weekends

If you have concerns with your vision, then it’s hard to go wrong with W Eye Clinic. It is dubbed as Singapore’s eye hospital.

The man on top, Dr Gerard Nah, is regarded as the eye doctor of Singapore’s elite. Dr Nah’s principle is based on his strong link in the military.

Now, when they hear ‘military’, some people think ‘rigid’ or ‘strict’.

That is not the principle of Dr Nah, at least, when it comes to his practice. In this case, ‘military’ translates to ‘safety’ and ‘precision’.

Dr Nah advocates improvement of vision through surgery without sacrificing safety and quality of life. And who wouldn’t want to be safe?

A patient even shared with us that he was immediately put at ease just by seeing the military jacket of Dr Nah. We cannot dismiss the sort of trust that the veteran doctor inspires in his patients.

Do you know that W in the name of the clinic stands for wisdom, by the way? A picture of Dr Nah and his staff of professionals may as well be put side by side with the word ‘informative’.

The staff ensures that patients know the risks and expected outcomes of the treatments as well as every step. With such wisdom, they can make an informed decision.

Yes, patients are informed of their options. So, they can choose which procedure they think is the best for them considering their lifestyle and budget, among other things.

And W Eye Clinic definitely has options. The clinic caters to many types of cornea and refractive conditions.

The minimally invasive SMILE treatment is also offered in W Eye Clinic. This procedure was introduced only in 2011, so it is fairly recent, more advanced and with shorter recovery period.

More and more people now want to try this treatment over the typical LASIK procedure. The PRK treatments are also highly recommended.

The TransPRK procedure for both eyes is priced at $3,839.16 after GST.  ReLEx® SMILE for both eyes costs $4,988 before GST and $5,337.16 after GST.

The LASIK packages are inclusive of three follow-up reviews (i.e. Day 1, Week 1 and Month 1) and the surgery by a senior eye surgeon.

Surgical fees for enhancement will be waived within the first three years. Consultation and pre-LASIK assessments are not included in the price though.

This highly recommended clinic naturally has a large clientele, which means long queues at times. Nevertheless, the staff are friendly and accommodating, making the wait bearable.

Pros

  • SMILE treatment for faster recovery
  • Informative consultations
  • Accommodates patients with cornea and refractive conditions

Cons

  • Occasional long queues
  • Closed on Sundays

As can be expected from its name, JL Eye Specialists houses many eye specialists with a wide range of expertise. When you have something in your eye, you go here.

The clinic provides cornea treatment, cataracts, general ophthalmology and laser vision correction procedures. To say that it is a one-stop shop is not overselling it.

Speaking of the clinic’s name, JL stands for Dr Jimmy Lim. He is a lauded eye surgeon who spent more than 20 years caring for the eyes of many patients.

Dr Lim’s knowledge and specialisation made him a usual guest speaker for conferences in and out of Singapore. Unsurprisingly, he has gained many followers.

JL Eye Specialists is a favourite even among international clients. And the staff, from what we’ve seen, provides amazing assistance to clients visiting Singapore specifically to see Dr Lim.

Given the 61 procedures offered by the clinic, suitability is a top consideration. JL Eye Specialists performs suitability assessments.

With these tests, patients can get the best refractive surgery for their condition. No second guessing here.

Customer reviews are mostly positive. They complement the good service and friendly staff.

Clearly, JL Eye Specialists has lots of clients. The clinic can benefit from a renovation as the waiting area can be likened to a mob scene at times.

Scheduling an appointment can be a hardship as well. The clinic has a full schedule most times making us think that they may want to open on Sundays.

The prices of the services are all on request though. Patients cannot easily compare the costs with other clinics, which isn’t ideal.

Pros

  • All-inclusive suitability assessments
  • 61 diagnostics and procedures
  • Excellent assistance to foreign patients from booking to GST refunds

Cons

  • Cramped waiting area
  • Full schedule most times
  • Lack of pricing transparency
  • Closed on Sundays

We have to be honest here. Atlas Eye Specialist Centre got us with just its hook: Gain Independence From Spectacles And Contact Lenses.

With the goal of freeing clients from wearing glasses and contacts, the centre specialises in laser vision correction treatments. And 119 customers rated it 5 over 5 on Facebook.

The three main procedures are ReLEx® SMILE, Wavefront Bladeless LASIK and Wavefront PRK. The centre uses only ZEISS technology, which is US FDA-approved.

Even if the options for laser vision correction treatments are down to only three, the centre takes the guesswork out. It offers inclusive eye screening packages as well.

The detailed assessment enables the team to deliver customised services and provide solid-gold results. Most patients leave the clinic with no regrets.

The staff of Atlas Eye Specialist Centre works under the guidance of Dr David Chan. Dr Chan is known for training a number of surgeons in and out of Singapore.

If you are looking for excellent customer service, search no more. The Atlas Eye Specialist Centre team are well-trained professionals who take pride in their customer service.

Let’s take prices now. The Wavefront PRK/Epi-LASIK/LASEK/TransPRK and Wavefront LASIK (bladeless) cost $3,900.

The price is for the surgery of two eyes and an enhancement surgery two years after the first surgery. This is what you can expect for a LASIK procedure in Singapore.

The ReLEx® SMILE is pricier at $5,359. The price does not include consultation fees.

The first set of medication is $125 for Wavefront PRK/Epi-LASIK/LASEK/TransPRK and $99 for LASIK/ ReLEx® SMILE. Post-op review costs $97 each time.

Pricing is competitive. So far, we haven’t encountered a negative word about the costs from the main procedures to eye screenings.

We also guess that the centre is picky with their employees because they have a relatively small team. We love the personal touch, but the long waiting time can be a deal breaker for some.

Pros

  • Complete assessment packages
  • Outstanding patient care
  • Personalised services
  • Competitive pricing

Cons

  • Long waiting time
  • Relatively small team
  • Closed on Sundays

Of course, Steve Seah Eye Centre cannot be separated from Dr Steve Seah. The diversely trained doctor boasts more than 30 years of experience in treating various eye conditions.

Dr Seah has many achievements in the treatment of cataract and glaucoma. Admittedly, his centre is more known for glaucoma and cataract surgeries.

We still included it among the best LASIK centres in Singapore because it specialises in epi-LASIK treatment. After all, Dr Seah is also celebrated for his expertise in LASIK.

He has performed numerous surgeries and achieved optimal results. He received praises from patients and colleagues alike.

That does not mean that anyone interested can get the treatment. All clients undergo full evaluation.

In Steve Seah Eye Centre, even uncommon eye problems can be detected. We especially love that patients are subject to tests like squint assessments and diabetic eye exams.

Based on the results of the detailed eye exams, clients are advised on the most appropriate treatment for their conditions. The centre values patients’ safety first and foremost.

The best thing is Dr Seah is extremely knowledgeable, so he can very well handle complicated surgeries. We see him as a problem solver.

The base price of epi-LASIK surgery is $4,400 for both eyes. The price is also subject to GST.

Yes, the price is higher than at other places. Some people may go for centres offering the same procedure for a cheaper price.

Paying more for glaucoma and cataract surgeries, that we can get behind on seeing as the centre is indeed a centre of excellence when it comes to those. For epi-LASIK surgery… well, not so much.

Pros

  • More than 30 years of experience
  • Thorough eye assessments
  • Consistent excellent service
  • Can accommodate native speakers of Bahasa, English and Chinese

Cons

  • Pricier surgical fee
  • More focused on cataract and glaucoma procedures
  • Closed on Sundays
