5 Best Clinics for Cataract Surgery in Singapore

5 Best Clinics for Cataract Surgery in Singapore

How We Picked

Medical Experience

Eye cataract surgery in Singapore requires significant experience from the doctor. We narrowed down clinics with the most skilled doctors who can conduct delicate procedures through different means.

Services

We narrowed down clinics offering eye cataract services besides just surgery. The more noninvasive alternatives available, the better for patients of all ages and walks of life.

Equipment and Facilities

As procedures become more tech-assisted, we made sure to gather clinics that operate with state-of-the-art equipment in top-notch and accessible facilities.

Availability

Eye clinics may receive a high influx of patients per day for their quick and pain-free services. We narrowed down clinics that fairly and efficiently accommodate their patients.

Pros

  • Offers extensive screening and examination packages
  • Offers bladeless and artificial intelligence-powered equipment

Cons

  • No tele-consultation services available
  • Booking an appointment may be difficult

Dr. David Goh helms NOVENA Bladeless Cataract Surgery & Eye Specialist Centre, a clinic that offers world-class eye cataract surgery in Singapore. One of the best features of this clinic is its specialisation in using artificial intelligence as a tool.

While it may seem unheard of, Dr. Goh’s advocacy has been changing how eye cataract surgeries are conducted in the country. His clinic uses bladeless and computer-guided tech to improve eye health.

That said, Dr. Goh’s medical expertise is highly sought-after by patients suffering from mild to severe eye conditions. This makes booking an appointment a bit difficult.

And because screening is vital before assessing whether a patient is a good candidate for the surgery, no tele-consult services are available.

However, we do appreciate the clinic’s comprehensive screening packages to make assessments more accessible to patients. Dr. Goh also performs other noninvasive treatments for patients who can’t undergo his coveted surgery.

His assessment packages are relatively more affordable than the average screening cost. Of course, it’s still best to contact the clinic to ensure the correct assessment is done according to the symptoms you may be experiencing.

Overall, we’re happy with the range of services and the equipment the clinic uses to treat its patients. We can expect no less from a pioneer in eye cataract surgery in Singapore.

Pros

  • Offers services in two hospitals
  • Treatments are claimable by insurance

Cons

  • Saturday hours are by appointment only
  • Consultation fees change once assessment exceeds 15 minutes

If you’re looking for an all-around clinic that offers personalised treatment plans, then Atlas Eye Specialist Centre is your go-to.

With years of extensive training in internationally renowned institutions, Dr. David Chan’s expertise in complex eye surgery makes him one of the best.

Atlas Eye Specialist Centre is located in two prime hospitals within the central business district. It’s accessible and easy to navigate via car or train.

Since not every patient is qualified to undergo specific eye treatments, Dr. Chan’s assessments are usually thorough. The average time it takes to get a full workup is around 15 minutes, and the clinic does its best to be efficient when serving its patients.

That said, additional fees are included when consults extend to more than 15 minutes. We honestly think it’s a feature they can improve on, especially since they cost around $225.

The clinic’s price range is quite steep, but their fees are claimable by insurance. We love that they have partnered with several insurance companies to ensure that patients from all backgrounds can access the best care possible.

This shows that they go the extra mile to assist you. We like that they’re willing to contact your insurance company to make sure you’re covered for what you need.

If you want to book an appointment, take note that they only accept scheduled slots while they’re open on Saturdays. Walk-ins aren’t accepted, and bookings should be made ahead of time.

Pros

  • After-office hours customer service
  • Comprehensive and personalised screening tests

Cons

  • Cost for personalised treatments are quite expensive
  • Other eye surgery or treatments are currently unavailable

Dr. Jerry Tan helms one of the longest-running clinics for eye health and cataract surgery in Singapore. As a veteran in the industry, he has extensive medical experience providing quick and efficient treatments to patients.

One of the features we love most about his clinic is that Dr. Tan makes time to really understand and investigate his patients’ conditions. His general exam usually takes up to two to three hours.

While it may seem long for a consult, we think that his willingness to provide the best and most efficient treatment is nothing short of awe-inspiring. We think it’s why previous patients trust him.

Aside from his undivided attention, Dr. Tan and his clinic also check for other possible eye degeneration to prevent further loss of vision. He explains his procedures thoroughly and ensures that his patients understand what they’re getting.

The clinic’s treatment fees are often steep. Despite that, we still think you’ll get great value for your money with all the extra care and effort they put into getting your eye health to pristine condition.

However, their services are limited to treating cataracts. Their other eye surgeries are currently unavailable if you’re looking for alternatives or more aesthetic eye services on the spot.

We highly suggest contacting the clinic for updates to ask about when they’ll be available. After all, they accept enquiries even after office hours!

Overall, we highly recommend Jerry Tan Eye Surgery for your next visit. We don’t doubt you’ll be in great hands with Dr. Tan and his team.

Pros

  • Highly trained head doctor
  • Offers several alternative eye treatments

Cons

  • High influx of patients
  • Cost of treatment is expensive

Many previous patients of Eagle Eye Centre attest to Dr. Val Phua’s professionalism and expertise. He and his team take their patients’ well-being seriously, which shows.

As an eye surgeon, Dr. Phua specialises in treating myopia control and laser vision correction. His skill in several eye treatments makes him trusted by patients of all ages.

That said, Eagle Eye Centre offers a wide range of eye treatments and alternatives to cataract surgery. With over 90 staff, every patient is accounted for with utmost attention.

Dr. Phua also takes into consideration the lifestyles and habits of his patients. This is essential to determining the right treatment and post-surgery protocols.

However, as expected from a highly trained doctor and respected clinic, the cost of his services is pretty expensive. While the clinic accepts insurance, the average claimable amount can reach up to only half the treatment price.

This shouldn’t be a problem if you can get $4,000 to $8,000 ready out of pocket. It’s best to consult your insurance company to determine how much can be covered.

Due to the high influx of patients he receives daily, it may be difficult to book an appointment. Rest assured, though, that the Eagle Eye Centre staff will do everything they can to secure you a comfortable spot.

Despite that, Dr. Phua can still perform alternatives that usually only last for 10 to 15 minutes. With regular follow-ups, patients from all backgrounds can benefit from the long-lasting effects of his care.

Pros

  • Offers aesthetic eye services
  • Located in two prime locations

Cons

  • Relatively short weekend hours

Award-winning medical care and expertise are what you can get from the International Eye Cataract Retina Centre. Helmed by four doctors in two prime locations, access to the very best for cataract surgery in Singapore is within reach.

The clinic offers treatments for a wide range of eye conditions focusing on cataract surgery. Patients get a complete assessment and are prescribed proper medication or aftercare packages depending on their symptoms.

What sets this clinic apart is that it offers aesthetic procedures as well. You can get Botox injections and fillers from highly trained eye doctors.

While not an aesthetic clinic, we commend them for highlighting the medical benefits of these beauty enhancements. We think it’s an excellent way to educate patients about how eye health is vital to improving your overall well-being, inside and outside.

Most of their nonsurgical alternatives are virtually pain-free procedures and take no more than 15 minutes to complete. Depending on the severity of a condition, a patient may get supplementary healing procedures like cryotherapy and membrane peeling.

We’re also impressed with their use of cutting-edge tech to solve various eye conditions. Their approach makes surgery seem less intimidating, especially for children.

However, if your only free time is on weekends, they aren’t ideal, as they close pretty early. It’s best to book an appointment on weekdays if possible.
