Pros

  • Head doctor has 25 years of medical experience
  • Emergency hotline

Cons

  • Booking appointments may be difficult
  • High influx of patients per day

The Brain & Spine Clinic is helmed by Dr. Timothy Lee, a senior consultant neurosurgeon.

He’s a member of several reputable associations like the World Society of Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery and the Singapore Neuroscience Association.

Dr. Lee’s clinic specialises in treating spinal and brain disorders, particularly cases caused by trauma or chronic diseases. His expertise as a neurosurgeon makes him one of the most trusted doctors for the brain, nerves, and spine.

That said, he gets a high influx of patients per day. We find that his consultations, although thorough and conclusive, can be too brief for our liking.

However, Dr. Lee takes the time to make sure his patients understand his diagnosis and prescribed treatments.

One of the highlights of his private practice is access to an elite hospital’s screening facilities. Patients undergo scanning with state-of-the-art equipment at Gleaneagles Hospital.

If you suffer from any discomfort related to your back, neck, head, or even limbs, Dr. Lee can assess the problem areas and provide you with accurate prognoses. Thus, his services are so sought-after that booking appointments may take time.

We think this could be troublesome if you require immediate medical advice. However, while Dr. Lee’s clinic can be very busy, he has an emergency hotline that patients can call for severe conditions.

Overall, Dr. Lee’s private practice is revered for a reason, and it’s that he’s one of the most dedicated neurologists in Singapore. A consultation with him, we think, is well worth your time and money.

Pros

  • High focus on treating stroke
  • Responsive tele-consult service

Cons

  • Neurosurgery services aren’t available
  • Appointment hours on Saturdays only run for two and a half hours

KK Queck Neurology Centre is helmed by Dr. Queck Kian Kheng, a consultant neurologist and practicing doctor at Mount Alvernia Hospital. He’s an expert in treating neurological disorders and stroke.

Dr. Queck’s private practice is well-received by patients who noticed early signs of nerve damage. Some of the most common complaints from previous clients are numbness and tingling, which are also typical early signs of stroke.

Due to his expertise in handling stroke patients, Dr. Queck’s prognoses and advised treatments have helped dozens of patients get treated for stroke-related conditions before they get worse.

We praise him for dedicating his practice to ensuring his patients are well-informed and thoroughly treated for relatively severe diseases. His multi-disciplinary approach to neurology has been noted to produce faster recovery among his patients.

Although his clinic doesn’t have an emergency hotline, he and his team are responsive to any queries sent through text or online. For severe cases, you should probably carry over urgent concerns to the hospital’s emergency room.

Depending on the severity of a patient’s case, Dr. Queck may recommend further treatment and consultations with surgeons and specialists.

Some conditions might require more intensive or surgical care, and Dr. Queck may call on a neurosurgeon for further assessment.

Furthermore, we noticed that his operating hours on Saturdays are quite short. If you need to seek his advice and weekends are your only free time, we highly recommend sending an enquiry via mobile instead.

Pros

  • 15 years of neurological medicine experience
  • Friendly environment
  • Known for noninvasive techniques

Cons

  • The intravenous method has side effects
  • Treatments generally take longer to complete

If an essentially pain-free service is what you’re looking for, then you should visit Dr. Charles Siow Hua Chang from Siow Neurology Headache & Pain Centre.

That’s because Dr. Siow’s Infusion Centre offers an intravenous treatment for patients suffering from chronic headaches. We honestly think his method quells any intimidation a patient might feel when faced with a serious neurological diagnosis.

That said, the Siow Infusion Centre doesn’t look like a medical clinic at all. Dr. Siow and his team put all their efforts into ensuring patients feel at home during their appointments.

The friendly environment is what we like most about Dr. Siow and his clinic. On top of his noninvasive treatments, his humanizing approach to medicine is definitely a highlight and makes Siow Neurology Headache & Pain Centre a solid choice.

However, there are a few catches we noticed about his intravenous treatment. While the method is noninvasive, it takes about an hour to complete the session and should be done for three days straight.

On average, the clinic treats about three patients daily, which can be troublesome if you need to squeeze in your schedule to match theirs. To combat the long wait, the clinic offers entertainment such as books.

Aside from that, a common side effect of the treatment is drowsiness. If you drive around a lot, you might want to consider commuting to your appointment instead to avoid accidents.

Overall, Dr. Siow’s clinic and services are definitely worthy of praise. Just make sure to book an appointment and adjust your schedule accordingly for better convenience.

Pros

  • Senior neuro consultant has 25 years of medical experience in treating spinal disorders
  • High focus on sports medicine and injury prevention

Cons

  • Relatively pricey services
  • High influx of patients

The Singapore Sports & Orthopaedic Clinic is a go-to centre for sports injury prevention and rehab in SG. It’s an established clinic whose doctors are equally esteemed for their extensive medical experience.

As a respected neurologist in Singapore, Dr. Matthew Tung Yu Yee has clientele who trust his expertise in treating nerve-related conditions and problems.

Dr. Mathew Tung is a spine specialist and neurosurgeon who has helped patients, ranging from the elderly to athletes, with mild to severe neurological cases.

His specialization in spinal disorders, neck pain, and even migraines caused by brain tumours makes him one of the most sought-after neurologists in Singapore.

His practice at the established Singapore Sports & Orthopaedic Clinic in Gleneagles Medical Centre is coupled with the expertise of leading orthopaedic surgeons and doctors who can help diagnose and treat problems beyond the brain and spine.

That said, the price range for getting treated under his care can be pretty expensive. A single MRI scan can cost around $1,200, with teleconsultation fees amounting to $120.

Luckily, the clinic accepts over 35 insurance coverage companies. We highly suggest reviewing your insurance policy with the clinic to ensure your medical expenses are covered where acceptable.

The clinic also gets a high influx of patients per day. It may be best to book an appointment in advance to avoid any conflicts in scheduling.

Overall, their services and facilities are top-notch and a solid choice for patients of all ages. You will be assured of well-rounded care with Dr. Mathew Tung and the clinic staff.

Pros

  • Wheelchair accessible and disability-friendly clinic
  • Offers translation services for international patients

Cons

  • International service takes time and should be booked in advance
  • Relatively shorter operating hours on Saturdays

Neuro Asia Care’s head neurosurgeon is Dr. Nicolas Kon Kam King, a board-certified and multi-awarded doctor. His private practice covers conditions such as brain tumours, dementia, stroke, and cancer.

Patients can benefit from Dr. Nicolas Kon’s services, especially since he offers both noninvasive and intensive care treatments. Patients from all walks of life can easily access his services online or in person.

The clinic is disability-friendly, which we consider a highlight since patients with mild to severe conditions may require extra care and attention when visiting Dr. Nicolas Kon.

If the case is urgent, his clinic offers emergency care services to control the situation better.

We like that he also offers translation services for international patients. Good communication is critical during assessments, and we think this is an excellent act of service from Dr. Nicolas Kon and his clinic.

However, this translation service should be booked a few days in advance. This ensures that all vital medical history and advice are properly communicated.

We believe this to be a caveat for urgent cases. That said, we highly recommend patients call their clinic’s emergency care for those cases.

If weekends are your only free time, we advise booking an appointment in the morning since Neuro Asia Care’s operating hours are shorter on Saturdays.

Aside from that, we think Dr. Nicolas Kon and his practice is an excellent choice for both local and international patients.
