The Best Prawning Spots in Singapore That Won’t Chase Away Newbies
Fishing by the coast is a very Singaporean thing to do, especially if you grew up in a family that loves grilling fresh seafood by the sea on weekends (shoutout to the Easties!).
While I grew up fishing with my dad, I actually enjoy prawning a bit more (don’t tell him I said that). It’s very easy, and all you have to do is show up, throw your gear, bait, and wait!
I also love that some of the best spots for prawning in Singapore gamify it by adding lucky prizes. If you want to try it yourself, here are my top recommendations for newbies!
Prawning at ORTO West Coast
Media from prawningatorto
Address: 27 West Coast Hwy, #01-13 ORTO
Contact Details: +65 8685 2181
Operating Hours: Monday to Sunday, 10:00 am to 3:00 am
Admission Fee: Starts at $22 for one hour
Website
ORTO Prawning is named the largest prawning site on the island, featuring 2 massive ponds filled with big and small prawns and crayfish. It’s also open until late, so you can catch as many crawlers as you can until 3:00 am!
All you have to do is show up because they provide the bait and rods for you. If you need any help with prawning, the staff members can help you catch them!
Tips:
- There are charcoal grills in the vicinity. You can grill your catch as soon as you get them clean at no extra cost!
- Just note that ORTO only allows up to 60 people to go prawning at the same time in their ponds. If you prefer to get priority access and exclusive prawning sessions, you can book the whole place for yourself and about 30 other people! Check out this page for more info.
Fish @ Bugis+

Address: 201 Victoria St, #07-05 to 06 Bugis+
Contact Details: +65 9008 0201
Operating Hours: Monday to Sunday, 12:00 am to 6:00 am, 9:00 am to 12:00 am
Admission Fee: Starts at $18 for one hour
Website
Did you know that there is actually a cool prawning spot in the Bugis area? At Bugis+, you can fish and prawn in an air-conditioned room!
The pools here are filled with prawns of varying sizes and are tagged with colours. Each tag represents a specific prize you can claim once you present it!
The space is not as big as ORTO, but you can still go prawning as much as you can until late because they’re open until 6:00 am! Just show up, get your gear from the staff, and go prawning!
Tips:
- You’re allowed to bring home the prawns you catch if you prefer not to grill them at the venue. Just make sure to bring a container for them because the staff members won’t provide you with one!
- I highly recommend visiting this place past 8:00 pm because that’s when the prawns are most active.
Hai Bin Prawning

Address: 6 Tebing Ln, #01-04
Contact Details: +65 6447 8693
Operating Hours: Open 24/7
Admission Fee: Starts at $21 for one hour, $128 for 10 hours with 6 months validity
Website
Hai Bin offers a spacious and inviting environment with a selection of prawning ponds tailored to different preferences and skill levels.
Their all-inclusive prawning package comes with all the necessary equipment, bait, and a grill station for preparing your catch. I remember catching a lot of prawns here on my first try, and I didn’t need that much help from the staff!
Besides prawning, you can also enjoy activities such as fishing, BBQ, and cycling. My family particularly enjoys the BBQ pits because we get to enjoy the fruits of our labour.
Tips:
- If you don’t want to spend extra money on renting gear, you can actually bring your own here at Hai Bin. If you’re a prawning or fishing expert, I recommend bringing your own gear but make sure to label them correctly and pay attention to your gear at all times.
- Just note that all visitors must join in on the prawning activity. Guests who only want to observe and watch are not allowed to enter the prawning ponds. They can, however, wait at the various dining establishments nearby (but I don’t recommend this if you’re bringing kids with you!).
D’Best Fishing

Contact Details: +65 6583 9030
Operating Hours: Open 24/7
Admission Fee: Starts at $20 for one hour
Website
Don’t be fooled by its name because D’Best Fishing doesn’t just offer one of the best freshwater fishing experiences on the island, but it also offers prawning!
Their indoor prawning ponds feature a crab release every Wednesday and Saturday wherein you get the chance to catch crabs while prawning. The ponds are currently under renovation, but I don’t doubt they will come back better and bigger.
Tips:
- You can have your catch cleaned and ready for cleaning for a small fee. You can also pay the staff member to cut your catch starting at $1 or place them in vacuum packaging for storage at $0.50 a pack! Just note that they don’t offer this on Thursdays, so plan your visit accordingly.
- If you happen to not have a good catch day, you can still purchase prawns from the staff members if you wish to grill them on the same day. It’s okay. No one will know!
Fish @ AMK

Address: 190 Ang Mo Kio Ave 8, #8 The Grassroots’ Club
Contact Details: +65 8338 6530
Operating Hours: Monday to Sunday, 12:00 am to 6:00 am, 9:00 am to 12:00 am
Admission Fee: Starts at $18 for one hour
Website
Fish @ AMK (Ang Mo Kio) is the sister to Fish @ Bugis+ and is considered a great party venue alternative for prawn lovers on the island. I personally love bringing my daughter here for a day of catching prawns (and she loves it here!).
Aside from prawning, you and your kids can also enjoy some relaxing activities like longkang fishing, fish feeding, and dipping your feet into a pool of fish (also known as a fish spa).
Tips:
- Stick around the ponds from 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm because that’s when they release prawns with coloured tags on them. These coloured tags represent prizes according to the colour you catch! The more of them you catch, the more prizes you can get within that time frame!
- Are you frustrated that you haven’t caught anything yet? Wait for the next hour because the staff members refill the ponds with fresh prawns every hour! Stick close to where they drop them to get a better chance of catching them!
ATC Fishing Village
Address: 241 Jalan. Ahmad Ibrahim
Contact Details: +65 6265 8268
Operating Hours: Open 24/7
Admission Fee: Starts at $20 for one hour
Facebook
If you’re in the western part of Singapore, ATC Fishing Village is a great place to enjoy prawning but with a slight catch (no pun intended).
They offer a variety of prawns tagged in different colours as part of their rewards system, where you can win $2, $5, $10, or even an extra hour of prawning. This tagged prawn rewards system is only available on Mondays and Friday evenings, though!
It’s also one of the cheapest prawning spots on the island, with rates starting at just $10 an hour. It’s also child-friendly, so long as you supervise your kids at all times!
Tips:
- If you’re coming with a big group, just note that at least 80% of the group should join in on the prawning activity. Bystanders are not allowed to stay near the pond or enter the premises, so make sure to only tag along friends and family who truly want to go prawning with you.
- The best time to visit this prawning pond is around 6:00 pm (because that’s when the prawns are most active) or early in the afternoon (around 2:00 pm) because that’s when there are fewer crowds.
Bait N’ Catch at Aranda Country Club
Media from bnc.sg
Address: 60 Pasir Ris Dr 3, Aranda Country Club
Contact Details: +65 9620 5123
Operating Hours: Monday to Sunday, 7:00 am to 3:00 am
Admission Fee: Starts at $22 for one hour
Website
I was surprised to find out that Aranda Country Club has its own prawning spot! Bait N Catch is the newest prawning venue on the island’s eastside, featuring four freshwater ponds stocked with big-head prawns and yabbies.
There are also challenges and competitions with fantastic prizes to be won. It definitely is one of my top recommendations, especially if you’re exploring the East Coast.
Tips:
- If you prefer to share your rod or gear (which not many prawning spots allow), you can get the 10-hour package that includes unlimited rod and gear sharing. You and your friends or family can take turns using the gear given to you by the staff. This package starts at $110, so it’s a bit pricey but pretty worth it!
- Unlike most prawning ponds, this venue is outdoor, so expect to be in sweltering heat if you drop by during the day. There are outdoor fans around the ponds, though, but consider dropping by the evening to beat the heat!
Riviera Prawning

Operating Hours: Open 24/7
Admission Fee: Starts at $18 for one hour

If you’re seeking a quiet getaway from the city, Riviera Prawning is the place to be. Located right next to Punggol Golf Course in Singapore’s northeast, this 24/7 prawning spot is perfect for a relaxing escape.
I love that you can grab some refreshments from the on-site store to keep your energy up while reeling in your catch. Plus, Riviera Prawning adds a fun twist with their tagged prawns. Each one could win you $10!
Tips:
- I recommend putting on some insect or mosquito repellent when you visit this place. It’s an outdoor prawning site, and the area is prone to mosquitoes due to its proximity to the river.
- You can ask the staff members to set up BBQ pits for you if you want to grill your fresh catches of the day. Plus, this service comes at no extra cost!
