No More Breaking Your Budget at the Cheapest Supermarkets in Singapore!
Groceries here can add up faster than you can say “aisle five!” so I’ve made it a personal mission to sniff out the cheapest supermarkets in Singapore. Knowing where to shop on a tight budget makes all the difference to feed a family, stock a dorm, or try to make rent for the month.
If it’s a good deal, I’ve most probably queued up for it. Here’s where I go when I want value for my pantry without the high markup.
Sheng Shiong

Website
Address: 6 Mandai Link
Contact: +6568951888
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8.30 AM–5 PM
Price: $$
I shop at Sheng Shion when I need to stretch every dollar because fresh veggies, meat, and cleaning supplies here usually cost less than elsewhere. It’s no-frills, and everything I need is always stocked and priced right.
Its house-brand items are a real steal, and the promos change just often enough to keep things interesting. Last I checked, my weekly basket was over S$10 cheaper than what I’d pay at other big-name chains.
Pro-tip: Scan the aisles for the shop’s “Happy Family” products for the lowest-priced options, like cooking oil, rice, and snacks.
NTUC FairPrice

Website
Address: 3 River Valley Rd, B1-04-05
Contact: +6562288040
Hours:
- Sunday to Thursday, 8 AM–11 PM
- Friday to Saturday, 8 AM–midnight
Price: $$
For variety without the astronomical cost, I go to one of FairPrice’s many outlets across Singapore. Everything’s fairly priced, from fruits and instant noodles to imported sauces, and easy to find.
Its house-brand stuff is also solid and cheaper than most (though just as good). The store holds regular essential items promos, so it’s easy to stock up to cut down my weekly bill.
Pro-tip: Look out for yellow “Everyday Low Price” tags on over 500 essential items that are locked in for affordability.
Giant

Website
Address: 21 Tampines North Drive 2, #03-01
Contact: +6567885919
Hours: Open 24 hours
Price: $$
I pop into Giant when I need to stock up on bulk buys (like cat food) or household items. Prices are usually lower when I buy in larger quantities, especially on snacks and cleaning supplies.
Its hypermarkets are spacious, and I can grab anything from bananas to blenders in one trip. The best part is that if I spend over S$200, the shop will deliver it to my doorstep for free!
Pro-tip: Head to the “Buy More, Save More” sections for bulk buys and multi-buy deals that are often cheaper than other stores.
Prime Supermarket

Website
Address: Blk 37 Eunos Road 2, #01-01
Contact: +65 6282 5349
Hours: Open 24 hours
Price: $$
Prime Supermarket is my go-to when I want to avoid crowds and still save a bit. The prices are quietly lower, especially for fresh produce and daily staples.
It’s smaller, but I usually find what I need quickly. Plus, I like how neighbourly it feels compared to other chain stores.
Pro-tip: Shop during weekday morning hours, when fresh produce comes early, and you can catch marked-down perishables.
U Stars Supermarket

Website
Address: 261 Punggol Wy, #01-02 Punggol Topaz
Contact: +6562914002
Hours: Open 24 hours
Price: $$
When I’m running low on pantry staples or toiletries, I typically swing by U Stars Supermarket. Its prices on dry goods and household basics are consistently lower than most.
The essentials are covered, though it’s not the biggest store. I’ve scored some great bulk deals here on soap, and its discounts change often, so I make it a point to keep an eye out for promos.
Pro-tip: Watch for U Stars’ limited-time bundle promos on toiletries and snacks, as they’re usually unadvertised in-store deals.
Valu$ (Value Dollar)
Media from ann_.life
Website
Address: 26A Chai Chee Rd, #01-401 Chai Chee Village
Hours: Daily, 10 AM–9 PM
Price: $
Valu$ is my secret stash for imported snacks like Ritter Sport at half price, legit UK digestives, and EU-made Nutella that tastes just like the real deal. Even US brands show up here with the same packaging and quality, my American cousin swears she’s seen back home.
It’s one of the few places that gets bulk pricing right, with lower margins but more volume. Besides snacks, I also like stocking up on personal care and household staples here without breaking the bank.
Pro-tip: Bring cash, as the card machine sometimes doesn’t work at the Chai Chee Village branch.
Daiso
Media from daiso_singapore
Website
Address: 100 Tras St, #04-16 & 16A
Contact: +6566046236
Hours: Daily, 10 AM–10 PM
Price: $
Daiso is where I go when I need one thing but end up with ten. Everything’s just S$2, and the variety makes it easy to grab extras!
I usually head straight for snacks, stationery, or bento gear, and always find something quirky I didn’t expect. It’s also my go-to for affordable, disposable house stuff like markers, organisers, and Japanese greeting cards.
Pro-tip: The store is small, but quiet, and great for slow browsing without pressure.
Don Don Donki
Media from donkisg
Website
Address: 180 Kitchener Rd, #B2 05/18 City Square Mall
Contact: +6566341711
Hours: Daily, 9 AM–noon
Price: $$
The City Square Mall Don Don Donki is the biggest single-floor outlet I’ve been to, and it does stock everything, from Japanese snacks to skincare and kitchenware. I always find something unique, and the promos make it easy to stock up on ramen and sweets.
The store’s layout is neat, the staff are friendly, and I like how the gift section has many quirky finds. If you’re into blind boxes, anime merch, and other curated Japanese items, it’s easy to lose track of time here.
Pro-tip: Affordable canned goods like a 5-pack of Japanese tuna flakes cost just around $6.90 here.
Cold Storage

Website
Address: 200 Victoria Street, #B1-17/18, Bugis Junction
Contact: +6563361008
Hours: Daily, 9 AM–10 PM
Price: $$
Cold Storage (CS Fresh) at Bugis Junction isn’t as cheap as the other supermarkets in this article, but I like going there for a clean, fuss-free experience with its fresh produce and quick, self-checkout lanes.
One notable budget-friendly experience I’ve had here was one evening before closing, when I scored a roast chicken at half price. I wasn’t expecting much, but it was one of the most tender and juiciest chicken dinners I’ve had (straight out of the microwave!).
Pro-tip: Shop at Cold Storage on Wednesdays to avail of a 3% senior discount if you’re 60 or older.
ABC Bargain Centre

Website
Address: 63 Queen Street
Contact: +65-97707922
Hours: Daily, 10 AM–9 PM
Price: $
One of the first things I noticed about ABC Bargain Centre on Queen Street is how it’s packed with tourists stocking up on chocolates, toiletries, and booze. I can’t blame them; it’s super cheap at this outlet.
I’ve grabbed biscuits, toothpaste, and even a spare suitcase here when mine broke without warning. Plus, I like that the shop takes both cash and cards, which makes it convenient for shoppers.
Pro-tip: Bring your own eco-bag, as a plastic bag costs S$0.50 each here.
Ang Mo Supermarket

Facebook
Address: 693 Woodlands Ave 6
Contact: +6567600773
Hours: Daily, 7.30 AM–10 PM
Price: $$
Ang Mo Supermarket near Admiralty MRT is my usual stop for frozen foods and fruits. No contest: it’s cheaper than NTUC and Giant!
Here, I always find brands like Farmpride, and even Wall’s rare pandan-gula melaka ice cream. Moreover, its fresh meats and halal meats are solid buys, with both manned counters and self-check-out ones making shopping quick and convenient.
Pro-tip: Make it a point to swing by during holidays, as the festive deals are worth it.
HAO Mart

Website
Address: #01, 74 Whampoa Dr, #332/334/336 Block 74
Contact: +65 6238 8882
Hours: Open 24 hours
Price: $$
HAO Mart at Whampoa may be small, but it’s well-stocked and the staff are friendly and helpful. I’ve had them tell me exactly when the mangoes will ripen so they’re sweet to eat, not tart!
It’s one of the best 24-hour supermarkets in Singapore for me, because it carries a good variety of essentials for such a compact store. Plus, the halal ice cream cup it carries at just S$0.50 each can’t be beat!
Pro-tip: Look out for the “Star Buys” promos on the shelves to get up to 39% off on selected items!
