A Local’s Guide to the Criminally Underrated Central Beach Bazaar in Singapore

Not a lot of my friends know about Central Beach Bazaar, and it baffles me that this fun and vibrant spot in Sentosa remains criminally underrated.

It’s one of the best spots to get good food and entertainment on the beach if you’re tired of theme parks, roller coasters, and watersports. It’s also an excellent date spot, especially if your date is a foodie who enjoys laid-back carnival games.

If this is your first time hearing about Central Beach Bazaar in Singapore, you’re in luck! You’ve stumbled upon the perfect guide, where I’ve outlined everything there is to see and do in this charming spot by the cove.

The Sentosa Skyjet is Southeast Asia’s tallest fountain, reaching a whopping 80 metres (the same height as a 24-storey building). It won’t be hard to find this majestic jet fountain from the shores of Siloso Beach.

While viewing it is impressive during the day, the fountain shows off more grandeur at night thanks to the 24 LED lights that illuminate its body. If you keep a keen eye on the Sentosa Musical Fountain during showtime, you can spot it in the background!

Tip:

  • The fountain is used as a visual marker for beachgoers in Sentosa. In case you lose your way around the island, just look for the tall stream or water near the beaches!

Immerse yourself in a world where dinosaurs roam freely at DinoVenture: Virtual Reality Encounter. You get to *almost* touch prehistoric predators thanks to the genius tech behind VR.

The visuals alone are impressive, and it will really feel like you’ve been transported back to the Jurassic period once you strap on the goggles. Don’t be afraid to reach out and immerse yourself truly in the experience (the dinosaurs won’t bite).

Tips:

  • If you book tickets online, you can get up to 5% off. You can only do this through the official booking site, though. To learn more, check out this page.
  • There’s a minimum height requirement of 110 cm and a weight limit of 100 kg to try the ride. The VR experience also features strobe effects and flashing lights, so if you’re visually impaired or have sensitivity to such content, consider skipping this attraction.

Win as many prizes as you can at the carnival game booths

From mountfaberleisure

Operating Hours: Monday to Sunday, 10:00 am to 10:00 pm
Pricing: Rates vary per game

Do you love some healthy competition? Challenge your friends and family to rounds of carnival games at the bazaar’s game booths.

You’ll find an array of classic carnival games like bean bag toss, ball toss, carnival ring toss, duck pond, and so much more. You can try your luck at each booth for a small fee, and I recommend doing them again and again until you go home with a huge prize!

Tips:

  • The best time to visit the game booths is on weekday afternoons. This is when the crowds are fewer, giving you better chances of redoing as many games as you want!
  • Each game you pay to play comes with a ticket to watch the Sentosa Musical Fountain shows. So, after getting your prize, don’t forget to pop by the fountain show in the afternoon!

Where to Eat and Drink in Central Beach Bazaar

International Food Street

From mountfaberleisure

Operating Hours: Monday to Sunday, 11:00 am to 9:00 pm
Pricing: $

The International Food Street is the best place to try different cuisines from all over the world within steps from each other. This food truck area houses 8 different food and beverage concepts that sell local fare and Western food.

You can get satay, chicken rice, fish and chips, burgers, tacos, and so much more here. It’s also one of the best places to grab a quick snack before watching the Wings of Time Show (it’s just right across!).

Tips:

  • There’s limited seating in this food truck area, so if you want to comfortably dine here, I recommend booking tickets to watch Wings of Time. This way, you get a sure seat to enjoy your food comfortably.
  • Some stalls may be closed due to menu items selling out fast. I recommend grabbing snacks here at least an hour before the show starts to avoid long queues and missing out on favourites (a.k.a. Tacos and hotdogs).

Are you looking for more food? If so, head straight to the Good Old Days Food Court to get your fill of delicious Singaporean dishes like chicken rice, satay, and laksa

Plus, this is one of the few places that have air conditioning in the bazaar. You can relax and beat the heat here while you munch on delicious food and slurp refreshing slushies.

Tips:

  • Don’t be afraid to ask the stall vendors about their kids’ menu in case you can’t find something your child can eat.
  • There’s a buffet option available for dinner. It’s technically a food court, but they do have buffet options that may be better for larger groups of diners.
  • Note that while there are multiple vendors, there is only one cashier. Prepare some cash with you to make transactions go faster!

Do you need a little caffeine kick before the fountain show starts? Get your coffee fix at the Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, located just across from Beach Station and the Sentosa Musical Fountain.

The world-renowned cafe is known for its ice-blended tea and coffee options, so buy a few for yourself and your friends if you want to beat the heat. There’s also ample seating there if you can’t find a place to rest near the bazaar.

Tip:

  • This cafe is probably one of the few food and beverage outlets that are open early in the morning. I recommend coming here as soon as it opens to avoid long queues for brunch!
