The Ultimate Beach Day Out Guide to Sentosa’s Tanjong Beach

Tanjong Beach is probably the most underrated beach on Sentosa Island. I visit Siloso or Palawan for its clubs, restaurants, and plethora of beach activities, but Tanjong Beach offers a different kind of vibe.

I love how it’s quieter than its other two more popular sister beaches, and although it’s smaller and offers fewer amenities, it really hits the mark if you’re looking for a legit beach day out on the sand.

If you’re planning a day trip, here’s everything you need to know about Tanjong Beach!

How to Get to Tanjong Beach

By Train: There are no train stations within Sentosa Island to reach Tanjong Beach, but you can ride the train from Harbourfront MRT to reach Sentosa Island. From there, you can take the bus, ride the Sentosa Express, or hail a taxi.

By Bus: From Harbourfront MRT, you can take the Beach Shuttle, Sentosa Express, or Sentosa Buses A or C to reach Tanjong Beach. The shuttle services run from 9:00 am to 10:00 pm daily.

By Car: There are car parks located by the entrance to the beach, namely Tanjong Carpark 1 and 2.

What to Do and See in Tanjong Beach

Build sandcastles along the shore

From tanjongbeachclub

Tanjong Beach’s sandy shores make for a perfect day out with family and friends, especially if you’re more into spending a day on the beach building sandcastles instead of wading in the water.

One of the best things about it is that it’s one of the quieter beaches in Sentosa. This means there are fewer crowds and less noise (which I super love when I think about relaxing on the beach).

Tips:

  • Dogs are permitted to play and lounge with you along the shore. Just make sure they’re kept on a leash and they don’t swim too far from the shore even if the water is calm.

Rent a kayak or paddleboard

From project.lovingme

If staying in the sand is not your thing, there are plenty of things you can do in the waters here. The most popular activities are paddleboarding and kayaking.

There are a couple of stalls along the beach that offer board and kayak rentals for people of all sizes and skill levels. If you’re a beginner, the stall vendors can choose a board appropriate for you (but almost every board there is fine!).

You don’t need prior experience to kayak or paddleboard on the water properly, but I do recommend testing it out near the shore before you try venturing further out. If there are markers on the waters, don’t try to get past them!

Tips:

  • Many kayakers follow a route that takes you along the shores of Tanjong Beach and all the way to Siloso Beach. I don’t recommend doing this if you’re a beginner, but if you can tag someone with more experience along with you, go for it!

Go on a moonlight beach walk

From tanjongbeachclub

For a romantic activity at Tanjong Beach, consider a moonlit beach walk. The beach itself is faintly lit thanks to the establishments nearby, so you won’t be walking around in complete darkness.

Tips:

  • If you’re planning to propose to your partner at the beach, I recommend doing it around sunset for the perfect beach backdrop! Complete your romantic day by taking a stroll under the moonlight.

Party like it’s the end of the world at Tanjong Beach Club

Friday to Sunday, 10:00 am to 9:00 pm

Website

Tanjong Beach Club is the sole party hub in Tanjong Beach, and I remember having some of the most fun parties with my friends here. It’s known for its pulsating DJ nights where guest DJs blast tunes while you party the night away.

They host a variety of guest and resident DJs, including DJ JU-C, DJ DuriO, DJ Seng Wei, DJ Deepak, DJ Shaun Nocturnal, DJ Anwar, and DJ Aldrin. There’s always something happening every weekend, so stay tuned here.

You can relax, enjoy a drink, or dance with various seating options like beach daybeds, poolside daybeds, the terrace, picnic tables, and lounge chairs. I prefer the beach daybeds when alone, but picnic tables are great for groups.

Tips:

  • The club is a completely smoke-free establishment. However, there is a designated smoking area located next to the car park if you want to light a smoke.
  • The management often takes pictures and videos of the premises and the guests during the event for marketing purposes. If you don’t wish to get your photo taken while at the club, just tell the management beforehand.

Try your hand at beach volleyball

From tanjongbeachvolleyball

I’ve tried beach volleyball before, and I tell you, it’s not easy. One of the few places I try my hand at the sport is Tanjong Beach because of the spacious volleyball courts located on one side of the beach.

The court itself is not very big and you’ll have to bring your own volleyball equipment here, but it’s doable. Not many people lounge near the courts, so you don’t have to worry about accidentally hitting someone with a foul ball.

There are not many shaded areas near the courts, but feel free to bring your own beach umbrella to give yourself some shade!

Tips:

  • The volleyball courts operate on a first-come, first-served basis and are completely free to use. I recommend coming by on weekday mornings or afternoons because that’s when crowds are fewer.

Saturday, 12:00 pm to 12:00 am

Sunday, 12:00 pm to 12:00 am

Good to know: Best for clifftop dining, seafood, and steaks

Website

Panamericana offers the best steaks and ambience for a beachside restaurant with stunning ocean views from a cliff. It’s an ideal spot for a romantic dinner, and the atmosphere is sure to impress your date.

The restaurant is located within the exclusive Sentosa Golf Club, so nothing here is short of fancy. The staff members and prices, though, are actually doable considering they sell mainly steak and grilled seafood.

A weekday set lunch starts at $38 per person and features 3 courses. Dinner is a la carte, with options like pig belly, Colombian chicken, lamb, and steak starting at $28 preserving or $98 for 300g of ribeye steak.

Tips:

  • The restaurant gets fully booked quickly, and the management encourages customers to book tables at least a month in advance to secure a good spot in their alfresco area.
  • The best time to dine is at 6:00 pm, right about when the sun goes down. If you get an al fresco seat, you get front-row views of the sunset with the beach in front of you! Just remember to wear light and airy clothing because the al fresco area can be really hot by late afternoon.

Good to know: Best for brunch

Website

Tanjong Beach Club may be known for its clubbing vibe, but it also has a casual restaurant that serves delicious Western and local fare for people who enjoy a quiet atmosphere before the sun goes down.

The restaurant offers specials like Wagyu striploin steak, grilled chicken, seafood platters, burgers, rolls, pasta, and fish and chips for its a la carte menu. Their speciality, however, is their brunch specials served until 3:00 pm daily.

You can order healthy and vegetarian bites like avocado toast, eggs benedict, toast, breakfast rolls, vanilla pancakes, and salads. I recommend getting the build-your-own option where you can choose eggs cooked your way plus bread and toppings for $30.

Tips:

  • The club’s brunch special is popular among families, so tables tend to get fully booked once 10:00 am hits. I recommend booking a table a day before to ensure you get comfortable seats away from the clubbing area. Sundays are their busiest, so book on a weekday!
