When it comes to searching for fun things to do in Sentosa, the thrill level reaches new heights when Universal Studios Singapore is part of the plan.
This theme park stands out as a favoured destination, offering six uniquely themed parks packed with roller coasters, live shows, and experiences.
Uncover the wonders that await you during your visit with this in-depth guide to Universal Studios Singapore!
How to Get There
By Train: To get to Universal Studios by train, take the MRT to HarbourFront Station (North-East Line or Circle Line). Exit the station and follow the signs to VivoCity shopping mall.
From VivoCity, take the Sentosa Express monorail to Sentosa Island.
By Bus: Take the bus lines that serve VivoCity (65, 80, 93, 188, 855, 10, 30, 97, 100, 131, 145, and 166), and once there, take the RWS 8 bus line to alight at Resorts World Sentosa.
By Car: The best way to get to Universal Studios Singapore by car is to drive to Sentosa Gateway, head to Resorts World Sentosa, and park your car in the hotel complex’s car park.
What to Do
Universal Studios Singapore is divided into six zones: Far Far Away, The Lost World, Sci-Fi City, Ancient Egypt, New York, and Hollywood. Each zone is themed and offers unique experiences that transport you into different worlds.
Far Far Away
Shrek took the world by storm when the first film from the franchise came out in 2001. If you’re a huge fan of Shrek and his friends Donkey and Puss in Boots, the theme park’s Far Far Away zone is exactly the place you need to explore!
Get immersed in the world of fairytales, potions, and never-ending magic as you go from one exhilarating ride to another in Far Far Away!
Go on a thrilling dragon ride on Enchanted Airways
Hop on Donkey’s cherished Dragon for a journey above the treetops of the Far Far Away forests and more.
Enchanted Airways brings you face-to-face with a lively ensemble of fairy tale characters, spanning from the Three Little Pigs to the Big Bad Wolf, and from Gingy to Pinocchio.
It’s a kid-friendly ride too, so we think there’s no better introduction to what you can enjoy in Far Far Away than a ride on Enchanted Airways with your kids!
Fly high in Puss In Boots’ Giant Journey
Embark on the inaugural Puss in Boots’ Giant Journey roller coaster, as Puss and Kitty lead you on an anti-gravity, swashbuckling escapade atop a colossal beanstalk.
Your mission: hunt for the coveted golden eggs. Fair warning, though, as the mythical Great Terror will go to great lengths to thwart those attempting to poach its plans.
Laugh out loud at Donkey LIVE
Participate in an exclusive interactive show with Shrek’s comical companion, Donkey. Enjoy the entertainment of this clever, fast-talking character in an intimate theatre setting.
You can also sing along to the performed songs and engage in conversation with Donkey (the highlight of this attraction if we’re to be honest).
Spin around at Magic Potion Spin
It’s hard to love the Fairy Godmother after what she’d done to Shrek and Fiona, but we can forgive her for putting up an impressive potion shop!
Step into the Potion Shop of the Fairy Godmother, where bubbling vats form the magical core of the factory, featuring the enchanting Magic Potion Spin.
This mini Ferris wheel operates as a whimsical potion assembly line, encircling the room and bottling magical elixirs from a massive wooden vat. Take a seat, and let the delightful spinning adventure begin!
Go on a virtual expedition at Shrek 4D Adventure
4D spectacles are all the rage in amusement parks, especially one as big and famous as Universal Studios Singapore. If you step inside the majestic Far Far Away castle, you’re headed straight to the heart of the zone: the Shrek 4D Adventure.
Prepare for a 4D fairytale adventure with Shrek and pals, going beyond the typical 3D movie experience.
Thanks to OrgeVision’s enchanting magic, you’ll physically sense the action from your seat—every jump, bump, bounce, air blast, and water spray. It brings the adventure to life as if you were right there in the midst of it.
Get up close and personal with your favourite Shrek characters at Happily Ever After
Who doesn’t love a good meet-and-greet session? At Happily Ever After, you get to shake hands and take selfies with Shrek and Fiona themselves, along with their pals Donkey and Puss in Boots, right outside the castle.
You might want to stick around the outer courtyard of the castle throughout the day if you want to catch Shrek and Fiona, but if you’re after Puss in Boots and his beloved, Kitty Softpaws, hang around Puss in Boots’ Giant Journey to spot them.
Chow down on some fried chicken at Goldilocks
Anyone who relishes a bucket of meticulously prepared, special-recipe, 7-spice chicken, cooked to perfection will head to Goldilocks.
Indulge in golden wings, thighs, and nuggets for a speedy snack or light lunch before exploring more rides in Far Far Away. Don’t miss the top-seller, the Shrek Waffle—a sweet treat featuring a waffle with chocolate syrup and Shrek’s face in the centre.
If you prefer to beat the heat with some ice cream, grab a scoop of your preferred Ben & Jerry’s ice cream flavours from the stall inside the restaurant.
Grab a bite at Friar’s Good Food
If you prefer to stay on your feet while you curb your hunger, consider getting a hearty sandwich from Friar’s Good Food.
The sandwich and wrap shops offer vegetarian and halal-friendly choices like chicken and veggie sandwiches for those with strict dietary needs. Even better, they’re easy to carry around with you in case you need to head to a different zone ASAP.
Pair your meal with a tall cup of soda and a bucket of fries to get the best value, as a combo will set you back only $15.
The Lost World
The Lost World zone pays homage to two mega franchises: Jurassic Park and Waterworld. The massive zone houses two separate sections dedicated to each of the franchises.
On one side, you can get up close and personal with dinosaurs and then watch thrilling and death-defying stunt shows on the other. Both sides present equal thrill, so just take your pick!
Fly high like a pterodactyl on the Canopy Flyer
Start your journey through The Lost World on the Canopy Flyer! Experience a prehistoric perspective as you take flight high above the Jurassic Park lost world, scanning the landscape below for prey.
Glide through the air resembling a pterodactyl, swaying and swooping from side to side, then accelerating in pursuit of your target.
Go rafting at the Jurassic Park Rapids Adventure
The Jurassic Park Rapids Adventure ride isn’t for the faint of heart, but trying it out for the first time will make you want to go on it over and over again!
Commencing as a seemingly calm river journey through dino-territory, it swiftly transforms into an exhilarating yet enjoyable adventure suitable for the entire family. Be prepared to get soaked!
Note: Steer clear of the ride if you’re bringing small children with you. They won’t be permitted to join, and you’ll be dealing with a tearful situation for the rest of the day (don’t say we didn’t warn you!).
Ride around in circles on Dino-Soarin
Now that you’ve had your fun, let your little ones take in on the excitement this time with Dino-Soarin.
This gentle children’s ride, riding on the backs of Pteranodons, lets your kids marvel at the expansive views of the lost world of Jurassic Park from above.
Feel free to join your young ones as you ascend into the sky, then descend into the shadows, relishing the sensation of freedom akin to a prehistoric bird of prey during the time when dinosaurs roamed the Earth!
Watch dino eggs hatch at Hatched! Featuring Dr. Rodney
Observe firsthand the hatching of a newborn Velociraptor, overseen by Dr. Rodney, a palaeontologist at Jurassic Park.
Dr. Rodney will guide you through the various stages of the hatching process of this baby dinosaur, reconstructed from 65-million-year-old DNA.
Additionally, you get the exciting opportunity to christen this latest member of the Jurassic Park family!
Watch stuntmen defy death at WaterWorld
Once you’ve gotten your fill of dino-filled fun in the Jurassic Park section, make your way to WaterWorld for another round of thrill.
The WaterWorld show is a live water show inspired by its namesake movie. This sensational performance unveils a cascade of death-defying stunts, featuring real explosions of fire and water.
To make the most out of the experience, sit close to the barricades, also known as the splash zones, and expect to get a heavy dose of thrills and spills.
Ancient Egypt
Discover Ancient Egypt and take a glimpse into a bygone era. Don’t miss the opportunity to experience the Revenge of the Mummy roller coaster and Treasure Hunter rides while you explore this zone.
Ride through ancient tombs at Revenge of the Mummy
Wicked mummies, swarming scarab beetles, and high-speed thrills! Expect these and more when you step into The Mummy’s realm.
Venture into this indoor roller coaster experience shrouded in complete darkness, if you dare. Brace yourself for encounters with massive fireballs, hordes of beetles, and a legion of warrior mummies emerging unexpectedly from the darkness.
Can you endure Imhotep’s curse, or will you find yourself entombed for eternity? Buckle your seatbelt and find out for yourself!
Let your kids fulfil their treasure-hunting dreams at Treasure Hunters
After the thrilling adventure of The Mummy, dial it back a bit and enjoy a more relaxed encounter with ancient Egypt with Treasure Hunters.
Hop into a vintage jeep with the kids and explore an abandoned excavation site. Encounter scarab beetles at a much gentler pace, and we promise, no jumpscares or steep drops!
Quench your thirst at the Cairo Market
Discover Cairo Market, a small bazaar reminiscent of scenes from The Mummy movies. It’s the perfect destination after experiencing the Revenge of the Mummy ride or finishing the Treasure Hunters ride and building up a thirst.
Refresh yourself with our coconut juice straight from the shell and satisfy your hunger with some chicken pieces if you start feeling hungry!
Sci-Fi City
Catch a glimpse of what the world would look like if we fast-forwarded way into the future at Sci-Fi City.
Experience the world’s tallest double roller coaster, Battlestar Galactica, walk around the block with Bumblebee and Optimus Prime by your side, or fulfil your astronaut dreams, all in one futuristic zone.
Brace yourself in a thrill-packed ride on Battlestar Galactica’s Human or Cylon ride
If there’s a roller coaster enthusiast in the family, this is the ride to queue up for. Battlestar Galactica’s Human or Cylon lets you in on a cosmic clash between good and evil on the world’s tallest duelling roller coasters.
You’ll be propelled through loops, drops, and heights at breakneck speeds, either in the red or the blue coaster. If you choose the blue coaster, however, you’ll be going through the whole ride, upside-down.
Help Optimus Prime save the world in the Transformers The Ride: The Ultimate 3D Battle
If the adrenaline from Battlestar Galactica’s Human or Cylon ride hasn’t drained you yet, head over to the Transformers The Ride: The Ultimate 3D Battle for more of the action that you can only find in Sci-Fi City.
Team up with Optimus Prime and the Autobots in an epic 3D battle against the forces of evil with the mission to thwart their invasion of NEST Headquarters and prevent the theft of the AllSpark.
Navigate through the city, speeding through subway tunnels, along streets, and across high-rise rooftops, all while fighting to protect humanity from the nefarious Decepticons.
Go round and round in the Accelerator
Don’t let most of the rides in Sci-Fi City scare you. There’s a handful of family-friendly attractions to keep you and your little ones occupied.
Take the Accelerator, for example, an otherworldly space adventure that challenges your endurance and balance limits.
How well can you withstand the centrifugal force generated as your pod turns and accelerates, causing you to spin in unforeseen directions? It’s akin to engaging in a space battle and altering your course mid-flight to evade the enemy’s lasers!
Shake hands with Bumblebee and Optimus Prime at Transformers: Voices of Cybertron
To end your journey in Sci-Fi City, participate in a meet-and-greet session with Transformers: Voices of Cybertron!
Encounter Bumblebee and Optimus Prime on a personal level and take as many photos as you can with them before they make their way through the zone. Seize the opportunity to inquire about joining forces and confront the formidable Megatron.
