The Best Light & Sound Shows in Singapore That Are Audiovisual Feasts
I’ve been telling my foreign friends that Singapore’s nightlife offers so much more than just quirky bars and bustling clubs. Since I’m not into partying every weekend, I prefer exploring other fun activities after dark.
One of the best—and often free—things to do in the evening is to catch a light and sound show. These mesmerising displays provide an incredible audiovisual experience that’s sure to captivate anyone for a few minutes.
If you’re after the same thing or simply want to see something new tonight, here are my top picks (I included free ones too!).
Spectra: A Light and Water Show
Media from marinabaysands
Address: 2 Bayfront Avenue, Marina Bay Sands
Contact Details: +65 6688 8868
Operating Hours:
Monday to Thursday, 8:00 pm to 8:15 pm, 9:00 pm to 9:15 pm
Friday to Saturday, 8:00 pm to 8:15 pm, 9:00 pm to 9:15 pm, 10:00 pm to 10:15 pm
Sunday, 8:00 pm to 8:15 pm, 9:00 pm to 9:15 pm
Admission Fee: Free
Spectra: A Light and Water Show is, in my opinion, the best introduction to light and sound shows in Singapore. It’s located right across from the iconic Marina Bay Sands Hotel, so you basically get two tourist spots off your bucket list in one go!
The show features a lavish display of fountains, electrifying laser beams, and majestic lights that project into the cascading water. The result is a story-driven show that will give your senses a treat for about 15 minutes each night!
Tips:
- You can catch the light and sound show at almost every vantage point available in Marina Bay. My best recommendation is to drop by the rooftop restaurants at Marina Bay Sands or stick around the outdoor veranda near The Shoppes for front-row seats. Otherwise, you can catch the show from Merlion Park and One Fullerton!
- Sometimes the show will feature new sequences whenever a visiting artist hosts a concert in Singapore. Stay tuned to the Instagram page of Marina Bay Sands for updates!
Gardens by the Bay
Address: 211 Marina Way, Supertree Grove, Gardens by the Bay
Contact Details: +65 6420 6848
Garden Rhapsody
Media from gardensbythebay
Operating Hours:
Monday to Sunday, every 7:45 pm and 8:45 pm
Admission Fee: Free (from Supertree Grove), starting from $10 (from OCBC Skyway)
The Supertree Grove at Gardens by the Bay is one of the park’s most iconic attractions, but did you know that the massive vertical gardens light up and dance to music at night? If you haven’t, then you really shouldn’t skip out on Garden Rhapsody after sunset!
The light and sound show starts every 7:45 pm and 8:45 pm, each lasting 15 minutes. This spectacular display breathes life into the towering structures with vibrant lights synchronised to an immersive soundtrack.
The themes and music change every month or so, keeping things fresh and exciting.
Tips:
- I highly recommend catching the show on the OCBC Skyway. Entrance to the Supertree Grove is completely free, but to watch it from the suspension bridge will cost you an extra $14 for adults and $10 for children. Do note that visitors are only limited to about 20 minutes on the bridge, so time your visit accordingly so you can watch the show from above!
- You can check out the different Garden Rhapsody themes coming up by visiting this page. If there is a specific theme you find interesting, plan your visit according to the dates listed!
Borealis
Media from gardensbythebay
Operating Hours:
Monday, 8:00 pm to 8:30 pm
Saturday and Sunday, 9:00 pm to 9:30 pm
Admission Fee: Free
With Borealis, you won’t need to fly all the way to the Arctic nations just to see the Northern Lights. You can still experience the magic of the aurora borealis right in the Supertree Grove of the gardens!
This captivating light show transforms the iconic Supertree Grove with the stunning beauty of the northern lights, thanks to an outdoor art installation created by Swiss artist Dan Acher.
Each visit offers a fresh experience with this dynamic installation. I won’t spoil anything else that happened here, so go see it for yourself (and it’s completely free too!).
Tips:
- Note that because the show involves mists, it will be cancelled if it rains during your visit. This is to ensure that all guests can enjoy the full spectrum of lights and sounds during the show, and rainy weather will spoil all that!
- The show runs only three times a week. I highly recommend coming in on the show dates to catch BOTH the Garden Rhapsody and Borealis on the same day (because two is always better than one!).
Digital Light Canvas by teamLab

Operating Hours:
Monday to Sunday, 11:00 am to 9:00 pm
Admission Fee: $12 per person
Out of all the light and sound shows around the city, the Digital Light Canvas by teamLab is the most interactive of them all. That’s because aside from marvelling at a large display of light projections, you’ll also watch drawings come to life below you!
Before stepping onto the large LED floor, you’ll get to sketch a few designs on a pad. Once you’re finished, your creations will be projected onto the floor, coming to life in a vibrant display.
The space comes alive with a collision of drawings, colours, and lights, all synchronised to catchy music. It’s an experience that’s sure to captivate both you and your kids!
Tips:
- If you can’t get enough of the light canvas, I highly recommend moving to the ArtScience Museum nearby to catch more of teamLab’s creations inside the Future World: Where Art Meets Science exhibition. There’s an admission fee to enter the exhibition, but if you purchase one, your admission to the Digital Light Canvas will be 50% off.
- If you’re taking someone special here, you can make your visit extra special by adding a personalised message to the canvas. It’ll cost you an extra $50, but it gives an extra romantic vibe.
