Get glamorous gems at the best gemstone shops in Singapore

One of my favourite proverbs is “All that glitters is not gold,” and I totally agree. That’s because some items that do glitter include precious gems and stones, so no, gold doesn’t have the monopoly of sparkling and dazzling in my book!

Kidding aside, though, here in Singapore, I know a couple of gemstone shops that I think are worth your time if you’re a gemstone and jewellery connoisseur. So I’m sharing the best gemstone shops you need to visit when in Singapore!

1. Authica Jewellery

Address: 46A Circular Road Second Floor

Website: https://authica-j.com/

Contact Number: +6588079960

Operating Hours:

  • Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, 12:00 NN to 7:00 PM
  • Saturday, 12:00 NN to 5:00 PM

If you’re into diamonds (just like me), then I recommend you visit Authica Jewellery. It’s one of the more popular gemstone shops in the country mostly focused on designing and selling jewellery with your choice of diamond.

During my visit, I checked out some of their options and was pleased to find out they have affordable lab-grown diamonds (compared to mined ones). For example, a lab-grown diamond only costs SGD 886 versus a mined one which costs SGD 2,000.

Plus, you can also craft the perfect ring for your loved one, and the team was ready to help me when I inquired about designing an engagement for a friend. To make choosing the right design easier, the staff also showed me a ready collection list to choose from.

Pro Tip:
If you want to design your own special engagement ring or other types of jewellery (like earrings and bracelets), you can book an appointment with them via their website

2. Far East Gems & Jewellery

From fareastgeminstitute

Address: 9 Perak Rd

Website: http://www.fareastgemsjewellery.com/

Contact Number: +6567343172

Operating Hours:

  • Tuesday to Friday, 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM
  • Saturday, 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM

I consider myself a big fan of gemstones, and Far East Gems & Jewellery is one of the best shops you can visit in Singapore if you want to see good variety and quality. I went to their showroom a couple of months ago to see what’s on offer, and I was impressed.

On display were different gemstones in different sizes. Some of the gemstones I saw included diamonds, blood rubies, alexandrite, garnet, and amethysts.

They also come in different shapes and cuts such as circular, heart-shaped, rectangular, oval, and square. My personal favourite, however, has to be their tear-shaped emerald, but I didn’t buy it, as it was beyond my budget (SGD 15,228 at 1.41 carat).

Pro Tip:
Make sure to book an appointment online before you visit their showroom, as walk-ins are not entertained.

3. The Gem Museum Shop

Address: 9 Perak Rd

Website: https://www.thegemmuseumshop.com/

Contact Number: +6587420548

Operating Hours:

  • Tuesday to Friday, 12:00 NN to 5:00 PM
  • Saturday 11:00 AM  to 3:00 PM

Do you want to make your partner or loved one feel extra special during a specific celebration like a birthday or an anniversary? Then I suggest you visit The Gem Museum Shop on Perak Road.

I was pleased to see different gemstones on sale like their topaz, garnet, sapphire, and amethyst. In addition, I was impressed with the more unique ones like their chrysoberyl, jadeite, and morganite.

The highlight of my visit here, though, has to be the different mini minerals on sale. These include quartz, limonite, prehnite, and pyrite conveniently placed inside sturdy clear plastic cases for protection.

Pro Tip:
You can also check out their catalogue online and order via their website.

4. Benny’s Gems Creations

Address: 402 Orchard Rd, #01-10/11

Website: https://bennysgems.com/

Contact Number: +6563366833

Operating Hours:

  • Monday to Saturday, 11:00 AM to 6:30 PM

For me, the best kind of gemstone or diamond is one that is attached to an exquisite piece of jewellery like a ring, an earring, or a necklace/pendant. If you’re like me and want the complete package for your jewellery, then check out Benny’s Gems Creations.

I dropped by their shop at Orchard Road and was quite impressed with their 20-something gemstones on offer. These include the more common ones like emeralds, garnets, and rubies and the more unique ones like Spinel, Tsavorite, and Paraiba.

Plus, you can craft your own creation through their Bespoke Experience. I asked their staff about this service, and I was informed that all I have to do is pick out my preferred gemstone, choose which piece I want it attached to, and I’m good to go!

Pro Tip:
If you want something extra special to give to your special someone, check out their collector’s edition via their website

5. Desiree Gems – Fine Jewellery

Address: 14 Scotts Rd, #01-85 Far East Plaza

Website: http://desireegems.com/

Contact Number: +6583881739

Operating Hours:

  • Monday to Sunday, 12:00 NN to 6:00 PM

I’m always on the lookout for intricate pieces of jewellery, as I think they give off an elegant vibe compared to the simpler ones. At Desiree Gems, I checked out a couple of exquisite pieces that I think are worth every penny.

Some of the jewellery that caught my attention include beautifully crafted rings and earrings decked in various gemstones. The shop offers natural emeralds, rubies, and sapphires along with combinations of these gems attached to gorgeous gold rings.

I particularly liked two special pieces—the ruby, sapphire, emerald, and aquamarine ring combo (worth SGD 4,900) and the natural emerald ring (worth SGD 30,000). Too bad I’m not a millionaire or I would have bought both!

Pro Tip:
If you don’t have time to visit their store, then you can still shop for their jewellery and gemstones via their online shop.

6. Shaliha Gems Pte Ltd

Address: 390 Victoria St

Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/shalihagems0245/

Contact Number: +6562919175

Operating Hours:

  • Monday to Saturday, 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM
  • Sunday, 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM

Shaliha Gems has some of the most beautifully designed rings and necklaces I’ve seen. Here, I saw different gems (e.g., emeralds, rubies, and sapphires) of different sizes attached to rings, necklaces, and earrings.

However, what I liked most about their items was how elaborately designed they were. For example, I saw an intricate necklace that looked like the tail feathers of a peacock filled with gemstones, making it a spectacular burst of colours from all angles.

Pro Tip:
To learn more about their latest designs, you can visit their Facebook for more information.

7. H. Sena

From paper_tigress

Address: 391A Orchard Road #12-06, Tower A Ngee Ann City

Website: https://www.hsena.com.sg/

Contact Number: +6567325689

Operating Hours:

  • Monday to Friday, 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM

I love options, and H. Sena delivers in spades. I was thoroughly surprised by the variety of products they have on offer which include wedding rings, coloured gemstones, necklaces, and even cufflinks.

Among their collections, their high jewellery collection caught my eye. They have an alexandrite cat’s eye ring (a gemstone that looks like a dilated cat’s eye) and a Darius Burmese sapphire ring (a beautiful deep blue).

They also have cufflinks and brooches for men’s suits. I liked the Theodore round ruby and diamond cufflinks that I think will look great if paired with their vintage pink sapphire brooch.

Pro Tip:
You can also book an appointment with H. Sena online for a 30-minute client consultation. Staff can guide you and give you recommendations on which pieces and gemstones to get based on your preference and budget.

8. Gems Shine

Address: 231 Bain St, #01-67

Website: https://gemsshine.com/

Contact Number: +6562975229

Operating Hours:

  • 12:00 NN to 7:00 PM

I don’t usually think of gemstones as home decor items, but Gems Shine made me do a double take. I visited their store and discovered that they offer differently-sized gems signifying the various elements (like wood, water, and metal) for feng shui.

This ancient practice from China (also known as geomancy) uses these different materials to harmonise your surroundings and home. Their gems include emeralds and rubies that you can strategically place around your home for good fortune.

What I liked about their services is that you can also request their staff to do an onsite feng shui assessment that will help you set up your gems around the house for optimal luck. These also include the position of beds, stoves, and rooms for family members.

Pro Tip:
To book their online feng shui assessment, you can check their website to choose your preferred schedule.

9. Claudia Gemstones

Address: 133 New Bridge Rd, #21-06 N9 Offices Chinatown Point

Website: https://www.claudiagems.com/

Contact Number: +65 8952 2769

Operating Hours:

  • Monday to Friday and Sunday, 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM

Most gemstone shops play it safe and only offer standard or common gemstones. Claudia Gemstones does it differently.

For example, we saw some peridot gems cut and sold in different shapes and sizes. I liked the large pear-shaped one, but my partner found the mini heart-shaped earrings to be quite charming.

My favourite among the different gems on display, though, is their ametrine. It has citrine and amethyst hues that I think will draw people’s attention if worn during a black tie event (or any other event for that matter!).

Pro Tip:
You can check out the different collections Claudia Gemstones offers by visiting their website.

10. Temple & Grace Jewellery

Address: 1 Tanglin Rd, Suite 13, Level 3 Hotel Orchard Rendezvous

Website: https://www.templeandgrace.sg/

Contact Number: +65 3106 4614

Operating Hours:

  • Wednesday to Saturday, 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM
  • Sunday, 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM

Are you planning to tie the knot? Then you may want to consider Temple & Grace Jewellery—one of the most popular and reliable engagement and wedding ring makers in the country where you can customise your rings with your preferred gemstone!

We went to their store and saw a couple of loose gemstones such as rubies and emeralds. Most of these gems were still uncut, but the store staff was kind enough to show us a catalogue where we could select how we wanted these gorgeous stones cut.

The piece I liked most during our visit was the blue topaz and gold ring combo. I found the deep blue colour of the gem to be quite alluring, and paired with the gold ring, I thought it was unique and will surely grab anyone’s attention.

Pro Tip:
You can book a visit to their gemstone showroom via their website. Most visits will last around 45 minutes to give you enough time to choose and discuss which pieces you want.
