A Guide to Snow City SG: A Brr-illiant Place to Get Lost for a Day (or Two)

When I was a child, I used to dream of seeing snow in person, but I also knew that I’d have to leave Singapore first because it would be impossible to snow here. In comes Snow City SG, and all of a sudden, my dreams come true without having to fly out of the country!

Snow City is a permanent indoor snow center—the first of its kind! Here, I can enjoy all the activities I’ve always wanted to do, such as throwing snowballs at my friends and family, sledding, making snow angels, and more!

I visit this family-friendly attraction often, and here’s a guide if you want to check it out for yourself.

How to Get There

By Bus: Riding the bus is the best way to reach Snow City. Just ride any of the following buses: 66, 178, 198, or 335. Then, alight at the Snow City bus stop.

By MRT: If you prefer to ride the MRT, take the East-West Line, then alight at Jurong East Station. You can then take Bus 335 or 66 from the bus interchange or walk to your destination. Walking should take you about 10 minutes.

By car: Drive along Ayer Rajah Expressway (AYE) to get to this location. There’s a parking lot available here. The rates are S$0.70 per half hour (car), S$1.30 per half hour (coach or heavy vehicle), and S$0.78 per entry (motorcycles). The car parking system here accepts CashCards, NETS Flash Pay, and CEPAS Autopass.

Safety Measures

To ensure a seamless experience, be sure to follow these safety measures:

  • Though a winter jacket and boots are provided, it’s still wise to wear long pants as well. This is to keep you safe and warm because the temperature in the Snow Chamber is consistently below zero degrees.
  • Please wear socks, especially since you’ll be using the boots provided by the staff. This is just for hygiene purposes.
  • Food drinks are now allowed in the Snow Chamber.
  • If you have medical problems relating to the heart, back, or neck, it’s best if you don’t ride the luge or enter the Snow Chamber. The same thing goes for pregnant people.

What to Do

Check out the unique sculptures at the Rainbow Frosty Playground

From: snowcitysg

The Rainbow Frosty Playground is one of the main highlights in Snow City, and I recommend checking it out first thing. This place features a dyed ice gallery that you can’t find elsewhere in Singapore!

Browse the breathtaking ice sculptures that, according to the staff, took about 500 hours of painstaking craftsmanship and creativity (the artist’s name is Jeffry Eng). There are all sorts of formations, such as an ice throne and what looks like a dragon (my favorite).

Aside from the sculptures, this room has a mini-golf!

Make snowmen and snow angels in the Snow Chamber

From: mummy_casuarina

Your visit to Snow City isn’t complete if you don’t stop by the Snow Chamber. This is where you can live out all your wintry dreams and pretend that you live far in the northern hemisphere!

Usually, whenever I come here, my first instinct is to plop down and make snow angels by constantly flailing my arms and legs. If I’m with friends and family, we throw snowballs at each other or try our best to make a passable snowman.

Whiz around with loved ones at Drift on Ice

From: snowcitysg

Have you ever wondered what it’s like to ride a bumper car on ice? Well, now you don’t have to wonder anymore, thanks to Drift on Ice!

Experience five minutes of pure adrenaline rush here. You’ll have to maneuver a bumper car on an icy rink. You can try to avoid a collision with the other cars or literally smash into the nearest car—the choice is up to you.

I love coming here with my loved ones. I feel like we’re in a Fast and Furious movie, just with lots of ear-shattering squeals and peals of laughter.

Ride a Glacier Luge down a snowy hill

From: snowcitysg

Another way you can get an adrenaline rush in Snow City is by riding a luge. To make things even more interesting, you can ride it down a man-made snowy hill!

The path from the top of the hill to the ground is roughly around 120 meters long, so it’s kind of like taking a trip from the top of a three-story building down. The ride down is so exhilarating; I always scream at the top of my lungs as the wind whips my face.

There are lots of twinkling decorations set up around the place as well, so your view as you whizz down is a colorful blur.

Slide down the 60-meter Snow Slope

From: snowcitysg

If you want to do something that’s exciting but not TOO exciting to the point that your heart is pounding hard in your chest, then you might want to try the Snow Slope instead.

This slope is only 60 meters long, and you don’t need special equipment to slide down on it. It’s just like your typical slide in an outdoor playground!

My younger cousins, nieces, and nephews love sliding down here. My fellow adults and I have to literally drag them away once our time is up.

Scream and shoot down “enemies” at Snowscape Shooting Arena

From: snowcitysg

Snow City also has a Snowcape Shooting Area, and it’s the perfect place to live out your dreams of being in an action movie!

What I love about this arena is that there are so many options. I really like the archery section, where I try to channel my inner Katniss Everdeen and try to hit the bullseye of the various targets in front of me.

But it’s also possible to have a shooting game with friends. We can hide behind stacks of wheels and other objects and just pop out to shoot paintballs at our “enemies.”

Test your climbing skills at The Cliff

From: snowcitysg

The Cliff isn’t for the faint of heart or people who are scared of heights. But if you’re adventurous, then you should try this out—even if you’re not an experienced climber.

I love that the climbing structures have a wide range of shapes. There are straightforward ones that are perfect for newbies, but there are also ones with spots jutting out all of a sudden. These are perfect if you want something more challenging.

An instructor will always be present at the scene to guide the newbies. The moment I start climbing here, I always lose track of time. Someone has to remind me that my time is up. Oh, how fast three hours go when you’re having fun!

Have your team-building with your co-workers here

From: snowcitysg

I know I keep saying that I prefer coming to Snow City with my friends and/or family, but I also recommend coming here with your co-workers. In fact, I suggested having our team-building here once, and everyone had such a blast!

To make things better, Snow City offers exclusive packages for corporate gatherings. There’s a package where we get to have fun with liquid nitrogen (with proper supervision, of course!) or we stage our own Winter Olympics.

My favorite has to be the part where we make our own ice cream. The process is actually pretty simple and straightforward!

Send your child to a fun program

From: snowcitysg

If your children love this place, then you might be interested in enrolling them in a fun program here. Snow City often has a roster of educational programs catered to children, and they’re categorized on the age group.

My nieces and nephews came here for the primary and secondary school program, and they learned about the scientific properties of snow and ice. They also did a lot of experiments involving dry ice and liquid nitrogen.

There was even a section where they learned magic tricks. They like to show off these tricks to me often, and every time I ask how they accomplish the trick, they refuse to answer me. Maybe next time, I should attend this program, too!
