This guide to Suntec Singapore shows what’s worth visiting in this sprawling hub

Whenever I’m in Suntec, I end up juggling three things at once: shopping bags, event passes, and the urge to pose at the Fountain of Wealth. I’ve been known to catch both a tech fair event and a dim sum lunch there within the same hour!

Suntec is more than just a mall for locals, tourists, and business folks. It’s a convention hub, landmark, and lifestyle stop rolled into one, and I’m here to guide you through all of it.

What to See and Do

Marvel at the Fountain of Wealth

Location: Central atrium, Suntec City mall

I still remember circling the Fountain of Wealth for the first time. I had my hand in the water, half-believing the good luck ritual might just work. It’s not every day I get to touch what was once Asia’s largest fountain.

At night, the whole place transforms with laser shows bouncing off the spray. It’s the kind of spectacle that makes you linger even after the shops have closed.

Pro-tip: Visit before 8 PM to catch the luck ritual and to stay on for the laser show without doubling back.

Spot the Feng Shui design elements

The first time someone told me Suntec’s towers were shaped like a left hand, I had to step back outside to see it for myself. Once you notice the “palm” cradling the Fountain of Wealth, it clicks instantly.

It’s one of those design details that make the place feel more than just another mall. It’s a blend of Feng Shui and modern architecture that quietly flexes its harmony.

Pro-tip: Head to the outdoor roundabout near Temasek Boulevard. It’s the best spot to see the hand shape with the fountain at its palm.

See 3D exhibits and blockbusters

Locations: Alive Museum (#03‑372, between Towers 3 and 4); GV Suntec Cinema (#03‑373, East Atrium next to Tower 4)

I once spent an afternoon at Suntec posing inside shark jaws at Alive Museum. The photos looked so real, my friends thought I’d gone diving. With over 80 trick art exhibits, it’s basically a playground for your camera.

Right next door, I swapped 3D art for a 3D movie at GV Suntec Cinema. Plush seats, digital screens, and Gold Class lounges make it easy to lose track of time.

Pro-tip: Buy a combo ticket online; it’s cheaper than walk-ins and saves you queuing twice for the museum and movies.

Join big-scale events and conventions

Location: Levels 3, 4, and 6 of the Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre

Walking into the Suntec Convention Centre feels like stepping into a city within the building. With halls big enough to host tech expos, concerts, and global conferences, it’s always buzzing.

I’ve attended everything here, from gadget fairs to academic talks, and the scale never fails to impress. Each fair, including The IT Show, CEE, or the Smart Home Tech Show, looks and feels like a festival of blinking screens and hands-on trials.

Pro-tip: Check the events calendar before visiting. You might catch a major expo or concert for the price of a day pass.

Where to Eat and Drink

I usually swing by Food Republic at Suntec when I want all the local staples under one roof. It’s the kind of place where you can eat like a local without hunting down separate hawker stalls.

The chicken rice there is solid, and the laksa always hits the spot after a long walk. Plus, the satay skewers sizzling on the grill make it hard to pass by without ordering several.

Pro-tip: Queues for chicken rice and laksa move twice as fast when it’s not during the lunch (noon to 2 PM) or dinner (6 to 8 PM) rush.

I have yet to meet the person who can resist ordering a steaming basket of xiao long bao at Din Tai Fung Suntec. The broth-filled dumplings are the star of lunch or dinner there every single time.

When I’m with famished friends, we add spicy shrimp wontons and braised beef noodles to the table. It’s the kind of meal where every dish is meant to be passed around and fought over.

Pro-tip: Pair your xia long bao with a plate of shrimp fried rice for the ultimate comfort food.

Putien

At Putien Suntec, I liked that the tables weren’t crammed together, so there’s breathing space while eating. This is important for an obviously family sit-down place, as evidenced by the line of strollers outside when we visited.

As for the food, there’s a fun twist via the sweet and sour pork with lychee, which even the kids loved. It was also great to share the crispy oysters, as they’re generously portioned.

Pro-tip: Families pack the place by noon on weekends, so try to go earlier.

Tempura Makino

The prawns at Tempura Makino Suntec always come out golden and crisp, not greasy. Each bite reminds me why freshly fried tempura is hard to beat.

Surprisingly, the tomato tempura is also a hit. I ordered it on a whim. The burst of sweetness with a touch of savoury crunch made me add this unusual menu item to my favourites list.

Pro-tip: Sit near the counter so you’ll get your tempura piping hot, straight from the fryer.

Where to Shop

Toys “R” Us

Whenever I feel like stepping back into my childhood, I head for Toys “R” Us on the second level. I usually go there for gifts, but I always get sidetracked by the Lego sets and new Barbie releases.

Collectors won’t be left out of this wonderland, either. There are Funko Pops and action figures from Marvel and Star Wars just waiting to be picked up.

Pro-tip: Check the clearance bins near the entrance for toys at steep discounts.

Harvey Norman

It’s hard not to pop into Harvey Norman at Suntec once you’ve laid eyes on the giant 4K TVs at its windows. Once inside, the rows of kitchen appliances, from air fryers to espresso machines, always get me rethinking my countertop space. It’s a great place for those looking to upgrade their kitchen or home office.

Pro-tip: You can compare your headphones or gaming gear side by side here without spending anything (ask for gadget demos).

H&M

I’ve dashed into H&M Suntec more than once before a night out, to grab a crisp shirt or a cute dress without wrecking my wallet. The basics section is stacked with tees and jeans for easy mix-and-match outfits.

Pro-tip: You can find racks of kids’ clothes and seasonal jackets on the store’s second level.
