A Guide to the Fountain of Wealth in Singapore, a Must-Visit Symbol of Prosperity
If you’ve ever been to Suntec City, you’ve probably seen the colossal ring of water that is the Fountain of Wealth.
On a whim, I found myself standing in its centre, following the ritual of walking around the fountain three times and making a wish (because I’m inside a shopping mall and can do with some extra spending money!).
If, like me, you want to visit for a quick wish or to soak in the good energy, here’s all you need to know about this symbolic water feature.
Background
Located in the Tower 1 and Tower 5 sections of the complex, the Fountain of Wealth sits in the central open-air plaza known as the Suntec City Fountain Courtyard, making it a prominent feature visible from multiple points within the mall.
Its massive 21-metre bronze ring was inspired by a Hindu Mandala, a symbol of unity and balance. The surrounding five towers represent a hand, with the fountain in the palm, symbolising control over prosperity.
The fountain itself is crafted from sand-cast silicone bronze, giving it a strong yet elegant presence.
This impressive structure cost a whopping S$6 million to build, and its sheer size (13.8 metres tall and 66 metres in diameter) is mind-blowing!
Oh, and it’s been named the world’s largest fountain by the Guinness Book of World Records too!

What to Do
Do the wish-making ritual

Many in Singapore hold onto this belief that the act of circling the fountain taps into the flow of wealth and success. Whether you’re superstitious or not, it’s a fun way to connect with local culture and make a wish for something good.
The first time I joined this wish-making ritual, I walked around the smaller fountain three times, with my hand in the water, just like the locals do.
Enjoy a spectacular light and water show
Catching the Fountain of Wealth light show at night was the perfect way to end my day at Suntec City. With water dancing to music, and laser lights cutting through the mist, it felt like a mini spectacle right in the heart of the city.
The show happens every evening, so it’s easy to plan around—usually running between 8 PM and 9 PM. Trust me, it’s a mesmerising experience you won’t want to miss if you’re in the area after dark!
Catch a live performance in its vicinity
