Moreover, the Mandai Rainforest Resort by Banyan Tree is set to welcome guests by early April 2025 with a uniquely sustainable concept.

What to Do
Experience treehouse-style accommodations

Having seen detailed renderings of the treehouse-style suites at Mandai Rainforest Resort has me giddy with anticipation at a nature documentary-like stay with the sounds of the rainforest as my morning alarm.
These elevated eco-lodges aim to blend modern comfort with sustainability. It’s designed with eco-conscious travellers in mind with the units using renewable materials (repurposed wood from felled trees) and energy-efficient systems (natural ventilation to maximise airflow).
Pro tip: Look out for special opening offers like 20% savings on the best available rates for longer stays, with daily breakfasts for two people.
Go on a guided nature walk

My inner Indiana Jones can’t wait to follow expert guides who will reveal hidden wildlife in the heart of the Mandai rainforest. Guided and interactive walks are part and parcel of the experience to accommodate exploration and nature immersion.
With the rainforest’s towering ancient trees and camouflaged critters, I’m looking forward to tracing animal tracks and spotting flying lemurs overhead on one of these walks.
Pro tip: Secure your spot for Mandai Rainforest’s guided nature walks by booking early.
Take a wellness retreat

Unwinding in the heart of the Mandai Rainforest surrounded by soothing sounds of nature during a wellness retreat? Yes, please.
The retreats will feature holistic treatments curated by Banyan Trees’ spa experts for complete relaxation and rejuvenation. Guided nature walks, curated wildlife programs, and yoga sessions will allow guests to detox with a deeper connection to nature.
Pro tip: The wellness retreats will feature Banyan Tree’s signature products including aromatic oils, herbs, scents, and spices.
Explore the cavern

I can already picture the thrill of stepping into the cavern, a hidden underground world inspired by Sarawak’s Mulu Caves. Its winding passageways will offer exotic creatures like spot racer snakes, giant scorpions, and other secretive forest dwellers.
The cavern is going to be a unique underground alternative to the lush rainforest above.
The beauty of the stunning rock formations in the cool, dimly lit tunnels alone will be worth the exploration.
Pro tip: Stay close to your guide, avoid touching wildlife, and bring a small headlamp for better visibility when exploring the cavern.
Traverse the forest floor

Imagine stepping on the forest floor where towering trees cast dappled sunlight over winding trails and hidden wildlife. Discoveries await: mousedeer darting through the undergrowth, tortoises basking by fallen logs, and the rustle of unseen creatures in the foliage.
It’s an experience of being completely immersed in the untamed beauty of the rainforest. Don’t miss this adventure right on the ground level.
Pro tip: Protect yourself from bug bites by wearing light, long-sleeved clothing and applying DEET-free mosquito repellent.
Learn about Indigenous cultures

The Mandai Rainforest experience also promises a deep dive into stories of Singapore’s indigenous cultures. With this activity, guests will get to know the native communities’ traditions, survival skills, and deep connections to the rainforest.
I look forward to learning the use of plants for medicine and tools, watching traditional weaving demonstrations, and experiencing the wisdom of those who have lived in harmony with the rainforest for centuries.
Pro tip: Keep checking the website for special hands-on workshops on indigenous cultures, as limited slots will be available.
Observe the behaviour of Malayan tigers

A little birdie told me that some Malayan tigers will take up residence in Rainforest Wild ASIA’s Rock Cascade zone. I was fortunate to get a sneak preview, but it wasn’t nearly enough time to fully appreciate the beauty and power of these magnificent beasts.
One moment they’re quietly lounging by the stream, and the next, they’re locking eyes with me from their 4,000-square metre habitat! The experience promises see-through tunnels, cascading waterfalls, and other details for an immersive experience.
Pro tip: Stay behind designated viewing areas and avoid sudden movements or loud noises when viewing the tigers and other wildlife.
Try the thrilling canopy jump

There will be a canopy jump platform for thrill-seekers wanting that rush of adrenaline. Picture the rainforest stretching below your feet as you prepare to take that leap that will send you flying through the treetops—exhilarating, right?
Don’t worry though, as there will be a smooth, controlled descent. It’s a great way to conquer your fear of heights or give in to your daredevil tendencies.
Pro tip: Listen carefully to your instructor, keep a steady stance, and double-check your harness before jumping.
Walk on suspended langur nets

Another activity to look forward to once Mandai Rainforest officially opens? The suspended langur nets stretching high among the treetops!
It gives me a rush of excitement thinking about balancing on the nets and feeling it gently swaying beneath my feet as I move quickly and gracefully across. It would be great to have a treetop adventure with the POV of a langur!
Pro tip: Got a fear of heights? Start slow, focus on your breathing, take small steps, and keep your eyes on a fixed point ahead.
