Pros

  • Serves hearty vegetarian Vietnamese dishes
  • Generous serving size

Cons

  • No desserts on the menu
  • Pricey beverages

The Kind Bowl is a Vietnamese eatery that serves hearty vegetarian meals that will certainly fill up your bellies quickly.

Having tried The Kind Pho and their Saigon Delight, we stepped out of that restaurant with our stomachs filled due to their large servings.

The pho came in a big bowl and was topped generously with fresh coriander, grilled oyster mushroom, and sprouts that we could barely see the noodles underneath! We  also love its spiced umami broth.

Their Saigon Delight, on the other hand, is truly rave-worthy. The fresh bánh mì complemented the strong savoury flavours of the grilled plant-based meat and barbeque-flavoured soy.

We wanted to order a dessert or two, but The Kind Bowl unfortunately didn’t have a lot of sweet treats on their menu. However, they do serve a couple of cold beverages, so we opted for their fresh passionfruit iced lemonade instead.

For its rather pricey cost, the drink, unfortunately, didn’t meet our expectations.

Pros

  • Serves flavourful and thick plant-based burger patties
  • No refined sugar or artificial sweeteners in their food

Cons

  • Pricey
  • Doesn’t serve eggs and dairy

Afterglow’s plant-based dishes with unapologetically “pure” flavours were seriously worth trying even if they caused a bit of a dent in our pockets.

With foods that are devoid of eggs, dairy, refined sugar, and sweeteners, we tasted dishes that only had a few flavour modifications yet still tasted delicious.

We tried their raw cheesy kale chips and were pleasantly surprised by how the dehydrated kale complemented the salty vegan cheese flakes.

Some of the kale pieces were a bit too bitter, but they didn’t ruin the dish entirely. Plus, the kale issue was completely forgotten after we tried their smoked stack burger.

We loved that the patty wasn’t made to mimic the flavours of a regular one. We could still taste the earthy flavours of the mushrooms and the chickpeas, which we think made the burger unique.

Pros

  • Serves plant-based Indian cuisine
  • Serves alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages including cocktails, mocktails, and coolers

Cons

  • Food menu has limited options
  • Pricey

If you fancy a cheeky little cocktail after a delicious and healthy meal, then Sexy Indian should be on top of your considerations.

Whenever we went to this place, we would pair their crispy masala fries and jalapeno pakora poppers with their refreshing tamarind margarita.

For our main, we would order their Chef’s Special Sexy Curry not just for its huge serving size but also for its unique flavours.

The jackfruit was tender, and the curry sauce wasn’t your usual curry sauce but instead had a hint of sweetness from the charred pineapple and tomatoes. It also came with fragrant basmati rice, which we drizzled with the curry sauce.

That said, Sexy Indian’s menu is very limited and only features a few staple dishes.

We personally don’t mind this because they’re technically a bar, so we understand they prioritise their drink menu.

It’s also worth noting that the prices at Sexy Indian lean on the steeper side, so make sure your wallets are ready if you want to dine (and drink!) here.

Pros

  • Serves plant-based Korean dishes
  • Affordable

Cons

  • Interior is relatively small
  • Can get crowded

Barbequed meats, fried chicken, and all things beef might be the first things that pop into our heads when we think about Korean food. The Boneless Chicken, however, offers delicious meatless Korean dishes.

We sampled their kimchi jjigae or sour kimchi soup and can confidently say that it tasted no different than the ones we ate that had pork (and spam!).

The thick sweet potato noodles were fresh and chewy. The spicy and sour broth also had a touch of sweetness due to the pickled radish added to it.

We also loved their kimchi jeon or savoury pancake. Our only negative comment about it is that it needed a slight crisp, which would have made eating it much more exciting.

But for their affordable price, we really couldn’t complain.

We did struggle to find a table in this restaurant though and thought that the interior was small for the crowd it attracts. It also got a bit too loud as we ate, so we hastily finished our food.

Pros

  • Trendy and wide interior
  • Serves cocktails and other beverages ranging from spritzers, wine, and beer

Cons

  • Pricey
  • The queue for a vacant table may take more than 15 minutes

In Analogue, you can enjoy an exceptional plant-based spread with a refreshing cocktail to wash it all down with.

This restaurant slash cocktail bar has a wide, modern interior and modish lighting fixtures. Their food too is a clear reflection of the restaurant’s overall vibe: unique and innovative.

Their king oyster scallop salad boasted “scallops” made with vegetable and grain proteins that were seared to perfection and had a generous drizzling of chili and sesame oil.

We also tried their jackfruit tacos and were in awe at how yummy they were. The jackfruit was tender and seemed to be seasoned with a generous amount of herbs.

Going to Analogue is definitely an indulgence, and we spent more than we normally would in other restaurants for the same amount of food. However, we can vouch that the dishes were seriously delish and even plan to go back.

One thing we’d do differently next time though is we’ll book a reservation to avoid the nearly 15-minute queue for an available table.
