Take a culinary trip across the Old Continent with the best European restaurants in Singapore!

For our fifth anniversary, my partner and I took a trip to Europe, and there, we indulged in delicious dishes from several countries: the comforting fish and chips in England, the tender steak frites in France, the vibrant paella in Spain, and more!

It’s been a while since that trip, but we still miss the food we tried in Europe. Because of this, we’ve now made it a habit to go to a European restaurant for our weekly dates (not all the time, but a lot of the time).

Fortunately, there are many European restaurants in Singapore that can satisfy our cravings. Here are some of our favorites!

Bread Street Kitchen by Gordon Ramsay

From: bsksingapore

Address: 10 Bayfront Ave, L1 – 81 Marina Bay Sands

Operating Hours

  • Monday to Friday—12 pm to 12 am
  • Saturday and Sunday—11:30 am to 12 am

Contact Number: +6566885665

Website

Gordon Ramsay is arguably one of the most popular chefs in the world, so when we heard that he has a restaurant in Singapore, of course, we had to try it out. Now, it’s among our favorites—even if it’s hard to get a reservation because of the high demand.

As you might expect, Bread Street Kitchen specializes in traditional British fare. My partner and I personally love Gordon’s signature beef Wellington. The pastry exterior is perfectly crispy, and the meat is tender and savory, with earthy notes.

Pro Tip:

  • If possible, take a seat in the al fresco dining area. That way, you can enjoy the gorgeous views of Marina Bay while eating your meal.

Atout

From: atout_restaurant

Address: 40C Harding Rd

Operating Hours

  • Monday to Thursday—12 pm to 9 pm
  • Friday and Saturday—12 pm to 9:30 pm

Contact Number: +6587994567

Website

What I love about Atout is that it feels rustic somehow, like we’re enjoying a nice home-cooked dinner in the French countryside. But the menu is far from simple. From what we’ve tried, the dishes are exquisitely made.

We love ordering the set menu because it comes with several courses already. So far, my personal favorite is the risotto for the main course because it’s so creamy and slightly bittersweet from the red wine. It’s also served with aged Parmigiano Reggiano for more salty, nutty flavors.

Pro Tips:

MERCI MARCEL

Another great French restaurant in Singapore is MERCI MARCEL. This dining spot, located on Orchard Road, combines old-school charm and modernity, making it a lovely place for a casual date.

We love coming here for brunch, and my favorite thing to order is the Ravioles de Royans, which is a French dumpling pasta that’s so cheesy and savory. Meanwhile, my partner loves the tarte flambée, which is a thin-crust pizza with grapes!

Pro Tip:

FOC Restaurant always makes us feel like we’re back in Barcelona because of its vibrant energy and authentic food. It was also started by Chef Nandu Jubany, a Michelin-starred chef—all the more reason to keep coming back!

Of course, we always have to get any of the paellas. Our go-to is Senyoret Paella, which has Argentinian prawns, Hokkaido scallops, and baby squids. It’s just so rich and tangy, with a bit of delicate sweetness from the prawns and scallops.

Pro Tip:

  • This restaurant has a private dining room that can accommodate up to six guests.
  • You can book it for a more intimate dining experience.

A fine-dining restaurant with modern European cuisine? Sign me up! Fortunately, we found one in Singapore: Tablescape Restaurant and Bar, located inside Grand Park City Hall.

I’m a big fan of the spaghetti alla mia carbonara, which is super creamy, peppery, and salty (thanks to the guanciale). Meanwhile, my partner always gets the slow-cooked Wagyu dish. He loves how the savory flavors are embedded in the meat itself; plus, it’s so tender!

Pro Tip:

  • This restaurant hosts afternoon tea. Come here to enjoy sweet and savory finger foods and a pot full of tea or coffee.

Napoleon Wine Bistro

From: napoleon_sg

Address: 206 Telok Ayer St

Operating Hours

  • Monday to Friday—12 pm to 12 am
  • Saturday—6 pm to 12 am

Contact Number: +6562219282

Website

Napoleon Wine Bistro celebrates the classic French bistro dishes, but this time, they have a few innovations to keep things interesting. I also love that this restaurant uses ingredients from renowned French suppliers, so the food feels and tastes authentic.

The steak frites is a must-order here. The flank steak is juicy and buttery, and the beef jus adds even more savoriness to the dish.

Another one I recommend is the risotto à la truffle. This one is earthy and creamy, and I love adding seared Hokkaido scallops to have a bit of mellow sweetness.

Pro Tip:

  • You can host a special event here. Booking an event here means you and your guests can enjoy a wide variety of wines with delicious finger foods.

Au Balcon at The Garage

From: aubalcon.sg

Address: 50 Cluny Park Rd, Level 2 Singapore Botanic Gardens

Operating Hours: Tuesday to Sunday—6 pm to 10:30 pm

Contact Number: +6598311106

Website

If you’re visiting the Singapore Botanic Gardens, you should stop by Au Balcon at The Garage. This restaurant is super charming with its garden-esque design, and the menu is full of comforting European dishes.

We absolutely love the roasted Australian baby lamb rack. The meat is perfectly roasted, so it has a lovely char and strong smoky flavors. When you pour the port wine jus all over it, you can taste sweet, earthy notes that elevate the dish’s flavor profile.

Pro Tip:

If you’re in the mood to splurge, you should book the set menu, which lets you enjoy a fancy, multi-course meal.

Le Jardin

From: lejardinsignapore

  • Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday—9:30 am to 9 pm
  • Friday—6 pm to 9 pm

Contact Number: +6588709977

Website

Speaking of restaurants in public parks, Le Jardin is another one you should check out. This one is located in Fort Canning Park, and the decor is inspired by Monet’s garden in Giverny, Paris, so the vibes are whimsical and romantic.

Brunch is the best time to come here, in my opinion. I recommend the miso black cod, which is served with cheesy asparagus and Iberico chorizo. This dish boasts a symphony of sweet, nutty, and slightly spicy flavors. I can’t get enough of it.

Pro Tip:

  • You can host events here—from corporate get-togethers to elaborate weddings!

Kapitan.sg

From: kapitan.sg

Operating Hours: Monday to Sunday—11:30 am to 3 pm, 5:30 pm to 11 pm

Contact Number: +6588757033

Website

Though European cuisine, in general, is popular, I do think that the cuisine in Eastern Europe is pretty underrated. Fortunately, there’s a restaurant in Singapore that gives it all the love it deserves: Kapitan.sg.

My favorite things to get are the pelmenis or Russian-style dumplings. I usually get the Golden Hen, which has a chicken filling. The filling is so perfectly salty and savory, and I love that the wrapper has subtle notes of earthy and sweet flavors, thanks to the saffron.

Pro Tip:

  • At lunch, you can enjoy a multi-course set menu for a discounted price.

Alaturka Mediterranean and Turkish Restaurant

From: alaturkarestaurantsingapore

Address:15 Bussorah St

Operating Hours: Monday to Sunday—11:30 am to 10:30 pm

Contact Number: +6580616981

Website

Turkish cuisine is another one that I feel deserves more hype, and I’m happy that Alaturka exists in Singapore. This way, my partner and I can satisfy our cravings whenever they hit.

The pide, which is essentially a Turkish-style boat-shaped pizza, is my ultimate recommendation. My favorite thing to get is the sucuklu pide, which has beef salami, egg yolk, and cheese. It’s rich and salty and has an addictive cheese pull.

Oh, and don’t forget about the baklava! This pastry made of crisp filo layers and pistachio and walnut filling is so simple yet so decadent. I’m obsessed!

Pro Tip:

  • Don’t know what else to get? On the restaurant’s website, you can find recommendations catered to people who’ve never tried Turkish cuisine before.

La Brasserie

From: labrasseriesg

Address: 80 Collyer Quay, The Fullerton Bay Hotel Singapore

Operating Hours

  • Monday to Friday—12 pm to 12:30 pm, 6:30 pm to 10:30 pm
  • Saturday and Sunday—12:30 pm to 3:30 pm, 6:30 pm to 10:30 pm

Contact Number: +6531298526

Website

La Brasserie is a picture of modern elegance. The interior is sleek with floor-to-ceiling windows, so you can enjoy a panoramic view of the Marina Bay waterfront. Because of this, it’s a popular spot for business lunches and intimate dinners.

I love the lobster dish here—even if it’s ridiculously expensive. The lobster is roasted, so it has a nice char that complements the meat’s delicate sweetness, and it’s also served with tomatoes that add an acidic tanginess to the dish. I’m already drooling just thinking about this!

Les Bouchons

From: lesbouchonsg

  • Saturday—6 pm to 10:30 pm

Contact Number: +6564230737

Website

Les Bouchons is nicknamed “King of Steak and Fries,” so it makes sense that you get the steak frites here. The steak is thick but still juicy and tender, and the fries are perfectly salty. It’s also served with shallots butter, which makes the steak punchy and a bit sweet.

Aside from steak frites, I recommend the duck confit. It has a lovely smokey flavor that meshes well with the richness of the duck. Dipping the duck pieces into sauce makes them even richer and more buttery.

Pro Tip:

Coucou Authentic Swiss Restaurant and Bar

From: coucouswissrestaurant

Indulge in the very best of Swiss cuisine by dining at Coucou!

Of course, one of the highlights here is the cheese fondue. Gruyère is the cheese of choice, so you can taste sweet and slightly salty notes with every dip. I’m quite obsessed with this one, and I love dipping all sorts of treats—from bread to fruits!

If you want something more hearty, I recommend the pork tenderloin with morel mushroom sauce. This dish is a savory and earthy delight!

Pro Tip:

  • If you want to reserve a spot, you need to call the restaurant ahead of time.

Paulaner Bräuhaus Singapore

Sometimes, my partner and I just want to enjoy pints of cold beer and plates of comfort food. When this craving hits, we usually hit up Paulaner Bräuhaus Singapore.

The Oktoberfest “Gaudi” is our go-to order because it’s loaded with everything we love, such as the crispy pork knuckle, grilled pork belly, sausages with sauerkraut, and more. We always feel like we’re going straight to a food coma afterward!

Of course, a trip to a German restaurant isn’t complete without beer. I recommend their lager, which has a pleasantly malty flavor with subtle notes of hops.

Pro Tip:

  • Have your next event be Bavarian-themed at this restaurant.

Etna Italian Restaurant

From: etnaitalianrestaurant

Address: 49/50 Duxton Rd

Operating Hours: Monday to Sunday—12 pm to 2:30 pm, 6 pm to 10:30 pm

Contact Number: +6562205513

Website

Etna started as a humble trattoria (Italian for a small restaurant), but now it’s a fully-fledged restaurant with a loyal following. Still, this dining spot stays true to its mission of serving authentic Italian cuisine to Singaporeans.

I always choose a pasta dish here. Linguine al granchio, in particular, is my favorite because I love how rich the crab bisque tastes with a mellow sweetness from the jumbo crabmeat.

There are also many options for pizza. I’m quite fond of the prosciutto e funghi, which has tomato, mozzarella, cooked ham, and mushrooms, so it’s an explosion of tangy, salty, and earthy.

Pro Tip:

  • You can host an event here with up to 70 guests. For more information, you can send an inquiry by filling out this form.

Shashlik Restaurant

  • Saturday and Sunday—12 pm to 3 pm, 5:30 pm to 10 pm

Contact Number: +6567326401

Website

Shashlik Restaurant is an interesting spot simply because it combines nostalgic Russian fare with culinary influences from Hainanese cuisine. The result is an interesting combination of flavors, which is why we love coming back here.

The Blue Fire Ribs is our favorite. The pork loin ribs are so tender that the meat falls off the bone; plus, the meat tastes sweet and sour with a charred, caramelized flavor from the rum. We can’t get enough of this; we actually end up licking our fingers clean after!

Pro Tip:

  • This restaurant has a private dining room that can accommodate up to 100 people. This makes it perfect for large group dinners and parties.
