The best alfresco dining spots in Singapore turn ordinary meals special!

When it comes to dining, good food, fresh air, and a killer view are my holy trinity. Alfresco dining in Singapore is pure magic because one moment, you’re riverside with a drink, and the next, you’re swapping stories under the stars.

I’ve been to rooftop bars that brush the sky, and hidden garden cafes, so I have quite a few recommendations. Whether it’s for a date, group catch-ups, or steak with sunset, this list tells you where to go.

The Garage at Singapore Botanic Gardens

Hours: Daily, 8 AM to 10 PM

The Garage sits right inside the Singapore Botanic Gardens, and honestly, it’s hard to beat brunch surrounded by so much greenery. The heritage building itself has a charming, laid-back vibe that makes me want to stay all afternoon.

It’s perfect for a slow family meal or a quiet coffee break after a garden stroll. If you love nature and good food without the usual crowd, this place is a real find.

Pro-tip: Go in the late morning to beat the lunch crowd and grab a seat outdoors. The garden views are best with a leisurely brunch plate.

Open Farm Community

Hours:

  • Monday to Friday, noon–3 PM, 6–11 PM

Open Farm Community looks and feels like a hidden garden escape right in the city, with fresh air and even fresher food. Its farm-to-table dishes are simple, honest, and full of flavour.

It’s a dream spot for those who like clean eating minus the fuss and gimmickry of “organic” restaurants. I always leave the place feeling a little lighter and a lot happier.

Pro-tip: Have a tangy start to your meal with the red snapper ceviche, which is marinated in lemon and is so fresh, it might just, er, snap at you!

CÉ LA VI at Marina Bay Sands

Hours: Daily, 11 AM–4 AM

CÉ LA VI makes me feel like I’m dining at the top of the world, with Marina Bay’s skyline sparkling right in front of me. The vibe is sleek, the food is polished, and the views steal the show every time.

It’s the kind of place you go for a very special night, so yes, it is expensive. However, for fancy dinners or just cocktails that turn into a full-blown feast for the senses, this is the kind of place you’ll want to linger for the sunset and city lights.

Pro-tip: For a refreshing drink that offers a playful twist on local flavours, try the Guavarita with its agave, guava, plum, and honey layers.

Abriza Rooftop Bar

Abriza is a rooftop bar where the cocktails are strong, the food is way better than you’d expect, and happy hour runs every night. I find it ideal for office after-hours sessions and casual dates.

I usually go there on Sundays for its chill ambience. The waiters are super friendly, willing to give drink tips and recommendations, and always go out of their way to make me feel at home.

Pro-tip: For your palate’s sake, order the avocado hummus because it’s amazing!

If you want a cool, laid-back spot where bikes hang from the walls and brunch feels extra satisfying because it’s outdoors, check out Wheeler’s Yard. Its industrial-style courtyard is a great place to linger over coffee after a ride.

The vibe at this place is casual enough that you can lose track of time if you aren’t too conscious. Plus, the open-air setup elevates the taste of its avocado toast just a little bit more.

Pro-tip: Head over on weekend mornings if you want the courtyard almost to yourself, as weekends can get packed with cyclists and brunch crowds.

Canchita at Dempsey Hill changed the way I feel about seafood. Its special tuna taco was a game-changer for me, palate and preference-wise.

The ceviche and appetisers were also impressive, and perfect for sharing with someone else in the beautiful open-air setting. The view, the vibe, and the food here all come together for a really special meal.

Pro-tip: Due to Singapore’s humidity, it’s best to opt for light, breathable casual clothing when dining here.

Wildseed nails the chill, breezy vibe I look for after a long work day. It has live music but not too loud that I can’t hear myself think, and a sunset view that slowly turns the place into a fairy-lit dream.

The food didn’t miss, either. We ordered pork ribs with a side of curly fries, and they hit the spot despite being deceptively simple. It’s all good food, fresh air, and zero stress at this place.

Pro-tip: Try to get there before 5.30 pm to catch both the sunset views and the full glow-up when the fairy lights come on.

Bread Street Kitchen is all about comfort food done right, with hearty Western dishes that feel familiar but are still special. The beef Wellington is pricey but worth it for a celebratory dinner; it’s rich, flaky, and delightful on the palate.

The alfresco seating along Marina Bay promenade adds an extra touch, with waterfront views and a breezy, relaxed vibe. It’s a great pick when you want a treat-yourself meal without the usual stiff fine dining scene.

Pro-tip: This restaurant gets popular, especially on special holidays, so make a reservation to secure a table.

Da Paolo Gastronomia was a lifesaver after trekking around Merlion Park. Its refreshing mango gelato hit the spot after a sweltering day outside.

It’s a cosy Italian cafe that gives me a breather, with great coffee, light bites, and a killer view. I can chill outside on an alfresco seat by the bay, with the skyline and the ArtScience Museum right in front of me.

Pro-tip: Swing by mid-morning or just after lunch to snag an outdoor seat without the crowds.

RISE blew me away with its massive buffet, with every dish, from the Thai green curry to the sticky mango rice, thoughtfully prepared and flavourful. The variety was insane! Japanese sushi to heavy Indian curries can be found in the spread.

The alfresco area was a nice surprise, too. It’s ideal if you want to dig into global flavours while soaking up some fresh air away from the crowds.

Pro-tip: Go to the Thai station first! They tend to run out faster during lunch and dinner.

Spago Bar and Lounge delivers knockout skyline views that somehow get even better as the night rolls in. Whether it’s the sunset or city lights, the vibe is pure magic without feeling overhyped.

The service nailed it, too. Our bartender was a pro, mixing up drinks like it was an art form. This is a rooftop experience that gets both the drinks and the atmosphere right.

Pro-tip: Try the “Come On, Get Lucky” cocktail with its zesty tropical punch rum and citrusy flavours that’s perfect for sharing.

Dallas Cafe & Bar surprised me with its seriously good pizzas, and the chilli and Parmesan sides that elevate the taste. It’s easy to kick back and take in all the view, thanks to its daily happy hour that lasts until 8 PM.

The alfresco seating gives me front-row views of the Spectra light show and the buzz of people skating or cycling by. It’s the kind of easygoing spot where I end up staying longer than planned.

Pro-tip: Grab an alfresco table by 7.30 pm to enjoy happy hour drinks with front row seats to the Spectra light show at 8 pm.
