I reached out to Majestic Construction Engrg when my family needed a quick quote for a commercial revamp, and its team got back within the day. Their delivery timeline was clear-cut, and they met our mid-size renovation deadline ahead of schedule.

The company is BCA-registered, so that gave us confidence from the get-go. Everything was above board, from permits to site protocols, and I didn’t witness any shortcuts or shady practices.

I like that the project manager was hands-on but not overbearing, coordinating with our vendors and keeping us looped in with weekly progress updates. They also flagged issues early and offered solutions fast, so we didn’t need to chase them for answers.

Quotes were broken down by line, as well. This made us aware of what exactly we were paying for. 

Site safety was well handled, too; the workers were all insured and followed safety protocols. The downside is that Majestic doesn’t take on massive-scale industrial jobs, so bigger firms might be better for those.

I came across Hanshika Engineering & Construction while sourcing contractors for a structural upgrade, and was surprised by how quickly they responded with a site assessment. 

Its delivery scope covered everything from excavation to fireproofing, which saved me the hassle of hiring multiple vendors. It’s BCA-registered under several workheads, including civil engineering and demolition, so it was fully cleared to handle our project.

Its project management was solid, too. The company assigned a dedicated lead who coordinated between subcontractors and kept the timeline tight. Even with some unpredictable weather delays, the handover was just slightly behind schedule.

Site safety was strictly enforced, with clear documentation for insurance and risk protocols. As for the costing, it was upfront and itemised, with proposed alternatives to help us stay within budget. 

The downside is that some of its specialised services, like fireproofing and lifting works, may come at a premium. Also, communication can be a bit more technical, so it might be better suited for clients with some construction knowledge.

For our office building’s major infrastructure upgrade, we worked with Hwa Seng Builder and realised its pace was no joke. The team pushed for early completion and actually beat the deadline!

Its experience in roads, bridges, and drainage showed in how the crew efficiently mobilised. Small wonder; the company holds an A1 grading with BCA for civil engineering, so it’s eligible for unlimited-value public projects.

It’s the kind of licensing that gave us confidence, especially since we were dealing with government-linked specifications. Plus, its project team was structured and responsive, with clear roles from site supervisors to safety officers.

We like that the company was transparent with pricing, though it does charge premium rates. To be fair, this is to be expected given the scope and scale, and its site safety was top-notch with ISO and bizSAFE certifications in place. 

The downside is that Hwa Seng Builder may not be the best fit for boutique or small-scale residential builds.

My dad’s business worked with Lim Wen Heng Construction for a mixed-use project and found its delivery solid. He said there were no missed deadlines, and the team handled overlapping timelines without a hitch.

He was happy to be spared from coordination headaches, thanks to the company’s ability to manage both civil and building works in one go. After all, it’s BCA A1-rated for general building, which meant they could scale up confidently without worrying about compliance.

This level of licensing is also why Lim Wen Heng often takes on large public projects. It’s built for it!

Its project management is clearly tiered, and everyone was coordinated and responsive when my dad and his team had change requests. He appreciated that they weren’t overly rigid but still stuck to core milestones.

He also noted that its subsidiaries handled piling and tunnelling, so there wasn’t a lot of outsourcing involved. That said, it might not be the best company for smaller, bespoke projects, as it wouldn’t be as flexible or competitively priced for them.

TSF Building helped us with a mid-sized commercial renovation, and my family was impressed with how quickly they mobilised once the quote was confirmed. The team handled everything from structural work to interior finishing without needing third-party vendors.

It has a General Builder Class 1 status with BCA, and its CW01 and CWO2 workheads cover general building and civil engineering, which is a good fit for mid-range projects. 

Because of those, we were confident they could manage the technical scope without delays or paperwork issues. One point of contact, consistent site supervision, and steady updates also showed us how tight its project management was.

As for me, I was impressed to learn that it operates a training arm (TSF Academy), which shows how invested the company is in skills, not just labour!

Pricing was fair, there was a clear safety plan, insurance coverage was in place, and protocols were followed throughout the build.

The only issue I see is that this isn’t a company for high-rise or mega projects, as its license value cap is at S$800,000.
