Singaporeans who book TK Contractors dodge the circus of chasing multiple subcontractors. They have people for custom carpentry, full renovations, warehouse upgrades, and electrical works.

Deeply tied to their identity is keeping clients updated. Contractors like Awlad and Monir were particularly quick at responding to our queries, with the answers and suggestions actually thought through.

Good craftsmanship is part of the standard package here, too. Finished builds, mainly cabinets and wardrobes, often end up durable and looking tidy.

Turnaround has lagged a few times in the past, though, so consider that if timely completion is absolutely make or break in your case.

What they take on can be all over the shop as well. Sometimes, minor gigs are turned away.

Offsetting that, at least for us, is the Singapore-friendly pricing and the supply and install services. The latter removes the need to source additional accessories when doing renovation work.

Very responsible staff

Anton the sales rep was attentive to details and asked all the required questions for our custom made reception table requirements. He was patient and gave many good suggestions and feedback. He followed through the entire project and arranged all the appointments with TK staff. TK had very responsible staff who did the heavy lifting despite the heavy load up the stairs for a few storeys without a single complaint. The master carpenter uncle who came at the last part did a good job overall due to his many years of experience and skills. The reception table looked really nice and sleek for our storefront.

CASA Interior often claims that consulting them first before spending money on interior designers is a smart move. Honestly, it makes sense.

The award-winning firm has pros who’ve been providing end-to-end services for over 2 decades, and one thing they commonly get right is designing aesthetic and efficient spaces based on a homeowner’s taste.

So far, the project count is more than 1,500, which is a tell-tale sign they don’t just do one-off projects.

Consistently hitting deadlines is what really landed them here, though. From experience and feedback, if CASA promises competition within a month or 2, it’s generally met.

Updates reach clients quickly, too, specifically those working with Nicky and Eric.

Just a shame that initial estimates don’t always match the final quotations. Smaller jobs don’t get much attention either; it’s large-scale projects they prioritise.

Majestic’s quotations have won over multiple clients and our team. While not the cheapest, the costs are broken down clearly, and estimates tend to be honoured.

Better yet, contractors like Kelly factor in a client’s budget when building proposals. Unnecessary work isn’t pushed, and they find practical solutions to work around financial constraints.

We’re also fans of their direct approach. Any drawbacks in your vision are made clear from the start.

Finding ways to deliver under time pressure is another strength. They’ve completed home, condo, and public sector projects like the ST Aerospace Centre within strict timeline conditions, sometimes even ahead of schedule.

Response speed is a different matter, as we met prospective clients who moaned about having to chase Majestic for replies. One even had to drop by the firm’s office to confirm details.

To be fair, once you’re officially in the system, updates become faster and more proactive.

You can leave the heavy lifting entirely to Lai Renovation & Construction. They provide demolition, reinstatement, masonry, cementry, disposal, haulage, welding, and painting services, making them among Singapore’s most well-rounded general contractors.

All the specialists are in-house, so dealing with delays or inconsistent craftsmanship is unlikely. In fact, most projects they managed wrapped up within the agreed timeframe without cutting corners.

We’ll give their guys props for being incredibly polite, too. Calvin, for example, handled a teammate’s last-minute requests and queries patiently, sans the pushy or sales-heavy talk.

Not every Lai general contractor ticks our reliability box, sadly; some have been flagged for abruptly cancelling initial appointments more than once.

The phone reps could also be more proactive in sending out updates related to complaints. After all, standard queries are usually resolved in short order.

Great experience overall

We approached Lai Reno for our 3 room HDB renovation, which was a great experience overall. Kit was responsive and efficient in coordinating his team, and work schedule was communicated clearly. He did his best to give us suggestions and improvement based on our design idea. ZL Construction (ZLC) has some advantages and traits you typically won’t come across with the entrants above.

To start, this end-to-end firm is CraftStone’s sole official partner in Singapore. That’s neat if you’re seeking a general contractor who’s authorised to sell or install the brand’s superb materials, often used for decorative finishes and feature walls.

Another partnership they hold is with BLUM urbanKitchen, which means 2 perks: the crew is specifically trained to install BLUM products, and you’ll get a European-style kitchen with Singapore-based pricing.

Universal Design principles even guide their overall approach, giving rise to spaces that are safe and accessible for people of different ages and abilities.

One “minor” downside is ZLC’s sluggish response speed. Replies and the quoting process can stretch beyond a week.

The bigger con? It’s cost. Given the high-end brands they commonly source materials from, expect heavier fees.

Excellent workmanship

This is the 2nd time we have engaged ZLC to design and renovate our place, given the excellent workmanship and experience we had the first time. ZLC has delivered once again. Throughout the renovation process, we have been kept updated at each stage of the renovation process. While there have been hiccups, ZLC has quickly fixed them. We are truly grateful for Jake and his team to deliver yet another masterpiece that we can call our home. Special thanks to Sean, the chief designer who came up with the design concept while making purposeful tweaks along the way, and Benson, the onsite manager to ensure everything is on track.
