The 5 Best Math Tutors in Singapore for Primary to JC Levels

  • Qualifications and track record - We looked for tutors with MOE teaching experience, strong academic backgrounds, or proven success in helping students improve grades.
  • Teaching style and patience - A good tutor explains concepts clearly, adapts to the student’s pace, and encourages confidence, not just rote learning.
  • Alignment with MOE syllabus - We researched if the tutor covers topics tested in PSLE, O-Levels, or A-Levels, and provides exam-focused strategies and practice papers.
  • Flexibility and accessibility - We checked if the tutor offers 1-on-1 or group options, online or in-person lessons, and is located conveniently or willing to adjust schedules.

I used to dread math tests, staring at numbers like they were written in a foreign language. It wasn’t until I got a good tutor that formulas started clicking in my brain.

Today, I can say I know how much difference the right teacher can make. Here’s a look at some of the best math tutors in Singapore who can help students ace their PSLE, O-Levels, or A-Levels.

My nephew struggled with H2 Math until he joined 180 H2 Math Tuition Centre. The tutors there are MOE-trained and know the syllabus inside and out.

Classes are structured to cover exam techniques, with past-year papers drilled regularly. My sister, his mom, liked that the centre offers both small groups and 1-to-1 formats, plus convenient online sessions, just in case her other son also needs tutoring.

She said hourly rates are about S$70 to S$100, which she found fair given the quality of the teaching and resources. She was impressed with the centre’s past student reviews, which consistently highlighted grade jumps (some even from E to A!).

180 H2 Math Tuition Centre has a strong track record of building confidence, and my nephew’s grades improved within a few months. The tutors clearly focus on clarity, patience, and strategy.

The downside is that classes can fill up quickly, so scheduling might be tight, especially nearing exam weeks. Also, fees may stretch budgets for families seeking long-term weekly sessions.

Pros

  • Free trial
  • Expert tutors
  • Exam-focused approach
  • Flexible formats

Cons

  • High demand = fewer slots
  • Premium pricing

I pulled my grades from S to D in promos

With Mr Lim’s help, I pulled my grades from S to D in promos, then to B in prelims. During the lesson, he makes sure to acquaint us with different approaches to solve the same question and also emphasises the most elegant solution. When I found it challenging to keep myself motivated, Mr Lim made sure I did one question a day and marked it and gave feedback as well. Thank you, Mr Lim, for encouraging us to always have faith in ourselves and making H2 math so much better for all of us.

Mr Lim is an inspiring figure

Mr Lim is a dedicated teacher. A master of his craft. He’s willing to go further to help his students with their shortcomings. During lessons, he’ll try to actively engage every student and ensure that the lesson is remembered. Not to forget the generosity that Mr Lim showed when he provided us with snacks to freshen us up. Overall, Mr Lim is an inspiring figure, inspiring me in ways more than my studies.

I used to freeze up at tricky math problems until Apex Math Tuition broke down things step by step for me. The tutors there are highly qualified and align tightly with the MOE syllabus.

Its classes cover everything from foundation drills to advanced exam strategies. I had the options of taking 1-on-1, small group, or online sessions, depending on my needs at the time.

The hourly rates ranged from S$60 to S$90, which my parents thankfully found reasonable, given the depth of guidance I was provided. I can attest to a big math skills improvement, especially in my O-Levels and A-Levels.

Within months, my confidence and grades shot up, thanks to the centre’s structured approach and patient teaching. Apex taught me not just math skills, but also test-taking stamina!

The only issue I see is that class slots fill up fast, so you’ll need to book early. Rates may also be higher for long-term lessons compared to basic tuition centres.

He ensures that I understand the concept completely

Mr Alvin is a very attentive and thoughtful tutor. He is skilled in his area of practice. Whenever I need help with a particular topic, he ensures that I understand the concept completely before moving on. It is a small tuition group, and he can ensure that everyone receives the same amount of attention. Additionally, he makes his lessons interesting by incorporating games. I’m very thankful to have met such an amazing and brilliant tutor. He managed to pull my grades from B4 to A1 for Additional Mathematics. Thank you, Mr Alvin!

He’s creative in coming up with different ways to teach certain chapters

Teacher Alvin has been extremely good at teaching and guiding me throughout the three years he has been teaching me. He is always there to help me with any questions, whether it’s online through WhatsApp or when I stay back after class. He’s creative in coming up with different ways to teach certain chapters and makes lessons interesting by implementing games during lessons every once in a while. My math grade has improved from C6 to A1 in the first year I joined. Thank you, Teacher Alvin.

Mathnasium Forum takes a different approach by tailoring lessons to each child’s learning gaps. Its tutors are well-trained and keep lessons MOE syllabus-aligned.

During my observation, I noticed how its “Mathnasium Method” focused on building both conceptual understanding and exam skills. Small wonder the parents I talked to had glowing reviews, praising steady improvements in their kids’ grades and confidence.

The structured materials and personalised attention given to students fetch hourly rates of around S$60 to S$80. The centre’s success track record shows that consistency pays off, with many of its students thriving in PSLE and O-Level prep.

If there’s a con, it would be that the structured program may feel rigid for students who prefer more flexible learning styles. The fees are also still on the higher side compared to smaller private tutors.

      Pros

      • High parent satisfaction
      • Customised learning
      • Free assessment
      • Mathnasium Method advantage

      Cons

      • Structured program may feel too rigid for some
      • Premium pricing

They are patient and great at giving updates

My son has been attending Mathnasium for a year, and he still enjoys going. They are patient and great at giving updates on the children’s skill level and what they are/will be working on. My son finds great motivation by their reward system as he looks forward to little treats or toys. Would recommend.

My son loves going to this place

Great experience! Friendly staff and instructors, engaging award system for kids and chill (while structured) atmosphere. My son loves going to this place.

A friend recommended Concept Math Novena when I was searching for serious math support for my nephew, saying it’s a great example of highly-qualified tutors who fully use the MOE syllabus as their guide.

I checked and found its lessons structured, covering everything from basics to exam-focused drills. The rates matched other centres I looked up, averaging around S$60 to S$90 per hour. My pal assured me this pricing is fair given the coverage depth and provided materials.

The reviews I’ve gotten of the centre often mention improved PSLE and O-Level results within just a few months, which is pretty much what my sister wanted for her son.

It seems to be a place that focuses on both building exam confidence and a deeper understanding of the subject. However, while trial lessons are offered, they’re strictly by arrangement, with no walk-ins allowed, which is inconvenient.

        Pros

        • Problem-solving specialisation
        • Level-specific programs
        • Structured curriculum materials
        • Strong word-of-mouth recommendation

        Cons

        • Trial lessons by online arrangement only
        • Less focus on JC Math

The teachers are patient and knowledgeable

My child has been attending Concept Math since Primary 2, and she’s now in Primary 3. We have the flexibility of online and in-person classes, which suited our limited logistic resources. We’ve seen a noticeable improvement in her confidence and understanding of math concepts. She recently did very well in her school’s weighted assessment, and we believe the structured lessons and supportive teaching here played a big part in that. The teachers are patient, knowledgeable, introduce new learning methods (which wowed me!) and make learning engaging. Highly recommend this class for parents looking to build a strong math foundation for their child.

Looking forward to the next lesson!

I would like to thank Teacher Von, even though my son has only been through one trial class with her when I’m writing this message. Von left me a really deep impression because she understands him so well (during the debriefing, she can identify his personality, learning difficulty, strengths and weaknesses) and can communicate and motivate him effectively. Thank you, Teacher Von, for letting me know that my boy can improve under Concept Math and your care! Looking forward to the next lesson!

Paradigm Math stood out to me for its clear focus on the MOE syllabus. Its tutors are highly qualified and emphasise building strong fundamentals before moving into exam strategies.

The sessions are structured yet flexible enough (1-on-1, group, or online) to meet different learning needs, which I understand perfectly as someone who had trouble keeping up with a rigid class structure.

The centre’s reviews often mention its students moving from average grades to distinctions within a couple of months. It makes the hourly rates (maximum of around S$90) feel fair, given the results and quality of teaching.

Its track record of consistent results, along with many parents praising both their kids’ academic improvement and renewed confidence in math, makes this centre worth looking into.

However, fees can add up quickly for long-term weekly sessions. There are also limited trial classes for those who want to take it for a spin before committing.

          Pros

          • Critical thinking-focused
          • Small class sizes
          • Customised learning plans
          • Strong secondary & JC track record

          Cons

          • Limited lower primary coverage
          • Strict trial class scheduling
