The city is your studio with the best outdoor photography services in Singapore!

  • Experience - We prefer outdoor photographers with at least three years of experience who also know their way around outdoor spots in Singapore, like Gardens by the Bay and Haji Lane.
  • Specialisation - We also picked photographers who are skilled in a range of styles, including candid and lifestyle shots, weddings, and family photoshoots.
  • Availability - We assessed whether they’re open to shooting in most parts of Singapore and are available on most days of the week.
  • Professionalism - We considered how they treat their clients, whether they show up on time, and how responsive they are to enquiries.
  • Price fairness - We checked whether their prices are fair given their experience, availability, specialisations, and photo packages offered.

Some of the best moments with my family are just us spending time together, nothing fancy, just enjoying each other’s company. We love hanging out in Gardens by the Bay. It’s where we go to unwind, surrounded by greenery and fresh air.

Recently, we decided to do something a little different. We booked a professional outdoor photographer to capture those memories properly. And honestly, the results turned out beautiful!

Since it was such a great experience, I thought I’d share a list of what I think are the best outdoor photographers in Singapore. Hopefully, it’ll come in handy if you’re thinking of doing something similar with your family.

We went with White Room Studio for a simple family photoshoot at Gardens by the Bay. They’ve been around since 2009 and even bagged the Best Photographer 2022 award from SG Tatler, so that gave us some confidence going in.

The experience turned out pretty smooth. Justin, our photographer, really knew his stuff. He made good use of the natural lighting and the garden’s backdrop to bring out our best.

One thing I appreciated was the variety of print options. You can go with wood, glass block, or simple frames. We picked canvas in the end, which felt right for hanging up at home.

However, one thing to take note of: they require a full deposit three days before the shoot. Also, they get snapped up quite fast; we had to secure our slot two months ahead!

Pros

  • More than 15 years of experience
  • SG Tatler’s Best Photographer 2022
  • Wide range of print options
  • Image retouching already included in photo packages

Cons

  • Requires a full deposit 3 days in advance
  • Tends to get fully booked quickly

Shoot went well and the natural light was amazing

“Wonderful and smooth experience with the WRS team and our photographer Ya Ting! Accommodated our schedule even when we had last minute changes. Shoot went well and the natural light was amazing. The viewing process was also comfortable. Will recommend to my friends and family!”

Looking to do photoshoots abroad? Then you might like Tomato Photo Studio, which has been around since 2007. Hart Tan, the guy behind the lens, has some solid credentials, such as an accreditation from the UK Master Photographers Association.

One thing I really like is that Hart is open to doing destination shoots, including places like Hong Kong. But if you’re keeping things local, he’s also happy to work with familiar spots like Marina Bay or the Botanic Gardens.

What also stood out to me is his satisfaction guarantee. If you’re not happy with his work, you get your money back. No drama.

That said, the price might not be for everyone. Hart charges $450 just for the session, and that’s before the photos come into the picture. Furthermore, since he works solo, it can take a bit of patience to secure a slot during busy periods.

    Pros

    • Almost 20 years of experience
    • Accredited by the UK Master Photographers Association
    • Can do destination shoots
    • Customer satisfaction guarantee

    Cons

    • Above-average prices
    • Solo photographer

I was thoroughly impressed by Hart

“I have worked with many photographers over the last few years across different continents. I was thoroughly impressed by Hart. He was gentle, kind and had an immediately warming and nurturing effect on my children. They were calm and assured by his presence and listened to his instructions and laughed along to his jokes which was a first! He had an innate ability to connect with his subjects (right down to my 10 day old newborn) and was able to get the best out of my family. The photos were a real treat, a balance between fine art and also capturing the pulse of my family.

We will be asking Hart to return as our family slowly matures to capture more magical moments.”

We are very happy with the end products

“We had a fun time during our photo shoot with Hart. He is extremely experienced, professional yet humorous at the same time. Everyone felt relaxed almost immediately. He is also very responsive with our follow up, responding to my texts almost always immediately. He managed to rush and got our art canvas ready, just in time for CNY. We are very happy with the end products too. Highly recommended 👍🏻”

If you’re someone who prefers natural-looking shots, you’ll probably appreciate Hong Ray Photography. He’s been in the game for 15 years and has a certain knack when it comes to candid photography.

One thing I really respect is how he takes clients off the beaten path, sometimes quite literally. Instead of heading to the usual attractions, he tends to go for under-the-radar spots. Think overgrown trails, forgotten industrial areas, and those ulu corners most people wouldn’t bother with.

Besides his unconventional approach, I also like that he offers aerial photography. He’s a CAAS-certified drone pilot, so he can do solid shots of outdoor events, rooftops, or even yachts.

Unfortunately, since he runs the whole thing on his own, it can be hard to secure a slot with him. He’s also not the type to take on last-minute shoots, so you’ll need to book days ahead.

      Pros

      • 15 years of experience
      • Skilled at candid photography
      • Provides aerial photography services
      • Knows Singapore’s lesser-known photo shoot spots

      Cons

      • Solo photographer
      • Strictly by appointment only

His talent and ease made the entire experience enjoyable

“Hongray has always been one of my favorite photographers, so I was thrilled to have him capture our family. His talent and ease made the entire experience enjoyable, and the photos turned out beautifully. Truly grateful for these precious memories!❤️❤️”

“I wanna say Ray deserves all the 5⭐️ reviews and would give more if i can!! He had been accommodating and also super professional during our photoshoot. We had a lot of fun and a good bonding time with his prompts. A true passionate photographer! His pictures speak a thousand words on our behalf. Would surely recommend him to family and friends! Thanks Ray!”

One of the studios that genuinely surprised me (in a good way) while putting this list together is Dress Up Dreams Photo Studio. Their specialty is in Hanfu photography, so you’ll really feel like you’ve stepped into Ancient China during the shoot.

They’ll sort out everything you need for the shoot, including the rental Hanfu and the professional hair and makeup services. They’re also quite flexible with locations and can do shoots at most of Singapore’s popular spots.

What I like is their willingness to re-edit your photos for free if you’re not satisfied with the initial outcome. Plus, they’re keen on giving special discounts to repeat customers.

However, they’re not exactly cheap, with sessions starting from $550. And because of how much prep goes into each shoot, they strictly operate by appointment only.

        Pros

        • Almost 10 years of experience
        • Specialises in Hanfuphotography
        • Free re-editing if you’re not satisfied with the photos
        • Special discounts for repeat customers

        Cons

        • Above-average prices
        • Strictly by appointment only

Had a great experience with Dressed up Dreams Photo team

“Had a great experience with the Dressed up Dreams Photo team. Sharon was easy to communicate with and her attention to detail is amazing. She offered many suggestions and was very helpful and patient. She provided us with snacks and drinks, which was so kind of her. The make up artist Yue did an amazing job with my make up – very attentive to detail. We had an outdoor shoot so it was hot, but everyone was still cheerful and worked very hard. Highly recommend!”

          The results were so stunning

“Dressed up Dreams is a wonderful photo studio with not only kind and talented photographers and makeup artists, they also provide a unique, personalized service, where you can together shape the design of your photoshoot. I wanted to go there for a long time and was not disappointed. Sharon and her friend took so much care into the dress, make-up and hair-shape and then we had a great photo session, where I also could integrate my own ideas. The results were so stunning. I am in love and would totally come back, when I visit Singapore again!”

If you’re a tourist looking to capture your trip to Singapore properly, Mount Studio is worth checking out. They’ve got this travel photographer package where a photographer tags along with you to two scenic spots of your choice, snapping your best moments along the way.

The package already covers transport for both you and the photographer, so it feels a bit like a mini guided tour.

They’re also a decent pick for sports lovers. Since they offer sports photography, they can help you capture your most awesome moments while you’re doing high-action stuff like football or cycling.

For business owners, they also offer outdoor product shoots at iconic local spots.

That said, they only accept payment via bank transfer or PayNow. Plus, there’s a $100 surcharge if you book a shoot on a public holiday, so do plan around that if you can.

          Pros

          • Almost 10 years of experience
          • Offers the travel photographer package for tourists
          • Can do sports photography

            Very pleased with the pics!

“Our photographer Faheem was very kind and directed us well. He had a good understanding of the outdoor shoot location and everything was done swiftly which is highly appreciated in the Singapore heat. Very pleased with the pics!”

During the photoshoot, Edmund really knows what he is doing and takes shots that are both aesthetically pleasing and captures our fun sides. His pleasant demeanor and fun personality makes it easy and not awkward to do the photoshoot and we had fun :)”
