Have a me-moo-rable day at the best animal farms in Singapore

If there’s one thing that never fails to spark joy, it’s getting up close and personal with some furry, feathery, or even scaly friends. After all, who wouldn’t want to swap the city bustle for a bit of barnyard bliss?

Whether you’re looking to milk a goat, feed some fluffy bunnies, or just let the kids run wild while learning a thing or two about nature, Singapore’s animal farms have got you covered.

Let me take you through the best spots to experience farm life, right here in our sunny city!

Insectta

Address: 77 Ayer Rajah Crescent

Hours: By appointment

Fees: $$

Website

Insectta isn’t your typical fluffy animal farm, but it sure is fascinating. We explored the life stages of black soldier flies, touched and fed larvae, used their poop as fertiliser in the sensory garden, and even fed dried larvae to a pet chicken.

There’s a bit of a smell when you first step in but you’ll soon get used to it. The kids and I had a blast and learned so much. It’s perfect for preschoolers and up (adults included!).

Pro-tip: Skip the insect repellent before and during the tour.

Nippon Koi Farm

Hours: Daily, 8.30 AM–7 PM

Fees: $$

We took a trip to Nippon Koi Farm with our community centre, and it turned out to be a fantastic learning adventure. The kids had a blast with the dancing fish experience and feeding the koi, while the adults got curious about the koi hotel and prawn detox.

The aquaponics setup was an eye-opener for everyone. And who knew spinach ice cream could taste so good? Highly recommend a visit if you’re keen to dive deeper into Singapore’s agricultural food scene.

Pro-tip: Order live prawns, silver perch, tilapia, and more for free delivery anywhere in Singapore on orders over S$100.

Gallop Kranji Farm

Check-in time: 2 PM

Check-out time: 11 AM

We headed to Gallop Kranji Farm in the afternoon, and the drive felt like a trip down Malaysia’s rural roads—rustic and charming. The place offers a true kampung farm stay experience with prawning, koi feeding, and tours to a fish farm, bee farm, and bird’s nest farm.

Plus, you can wander through vegetable, fruit, and herb plantations. The kids loved feeding the birds and horses, but make sure to bring plenty of coins for the vending machines with animal feed; it can get pricey.

Pro-tip: Join guided farm tours to dive deeper into sustainable agriculture, animal husbandry, and local food production.

The Live Turtle and Tortoise Museum

Address: 81 Lor Chencharu

Contact: [email protected]

Hours: Daily (except Tuesdays), 10 AM–6 PM

Fees: $$

Website

The Live Turtle and Tortoise Museum is great for kids, but keep little fingers away from the mouths when feeding, and no lifting—just gentle pats on the shells. Watching these creatures is surprisingly therapeutic.

Feed packets are only S$2, so we kept buying more for extra fun. It’s a small way to support conservation and a unique experience for the next generation. Plus, there’s no need for online tickets; you can get them right at the door.

Pro-tip: No interactions are allowed with certain species, like snapping turtles and pig-nosed turtles in the fish tank.

Hay Dairies Pte Ltd

Address: 250 Neo Tiew Crescent

Contact: +6567920931

Hours: Daily (except Tuesdays), 9 AM–4 PM

Fees: $

Website

Hay Dairies is a fun and family-friendly spot for a weekend visit. The goats are adorable, and the farm is surprisingly clean (a must for meticulous urbanites).

We make sure to go early to catch the milking process and grab some hay to feed them. Don’t miss the chocolate-flavoured goat milk. It’s delicious, affordable, and worth every cent!

Pro-tip: Don’t miss the short tour! It’s full of insights about goat rearing.

Qian Hu Fish Farm

Address: 71 Jln Lekar

Hours:

Monday to Friday, 9 AM–6 PM

Saturday to Sunday, 9 AM–7 PM

Fees: $

Website

Qian Hu Fish Farm is likely the biggest ornamental fish farm in Singapore, offering a huge variety of freshwater fish like Arowana, goldfish, and koi—all in spotless tanks and at prices better than most aquarium shops.

The fish are stunning, and there’s even longkang (small net) fishing and a fish spa to enjoy. Tour guide Jeremy made the visit memorable, sharing fascinating details about different species and fish rearing, while patiently answering all the kids’ questions.

Pro-tip: This is a great spot to stock up on fish for a new tank or find fish tanks at bargain prices.

DairyFolks

Address: 5 Lim Chu Kang Lane

Contact: +65 67937114

Hours: By appointment

Fees: Free entrance

Website

Dairy Folks produces pure, fresh milk from Holstein Friesian cows right here in Singapore—no preservatives or additives, just delicious milk! It’s a bit pricier at S$5.50 per litre, but the farm offers free delivery for orders over S$20.

The farm doesn’t have set tours, but you can explore on your own, feeding and petting the cows as you like.

Pro-tip: Plan for a 5-working-day delivery time, depending on stock availability.

Bee Amazed Garden

Address: 463 Clementi Road

Contact: +6596696370

Hours: By appointment

Fees: $$

Website

We got to play beekeepers for a day at Bee Amazed Garden for our office outing! It was a fun morning learning about bees and meeting John’s hives, all named after females (since the bees are ladies).

Even our nervous colleagues enjoyed the experience, managing to stay still (not always easy!) while John kept them entertained with humour and a bit of singing.

The workshop was super educational at S$50 per person, with slideshows, rooftop photo ops with the bees, and a sweet honey tasting to wrap it up.

Pro-tip: There’s an online shop to buy fresh honey by the jar too.

Viknesh Dairy Farm

Hours: Daily, 10 AM–4 PM

Fees: Free entrance

I went to Viknesh Dairy Farm hoping for raw milk, but the place didn’t sell it since it’s not allowed. I bought the fresh milk instead, and it’s way better than anything from the store—worth the extra cost for pure, organic goodness.

My bestie and I had a blast feeding, petting, and admiring the cows up close in this no-frills, rustic spot. They even cut fresh grass for us to feed the cows!

Pro-tip: You can buy the farm’s milk or yoghurt, and the owners will provide storage and reheating instructions for you.

The Sundowner

Hours: By appointment

Fees: $$

Website

At The Sundowner, I wasn’t sure what to expect beyond some bee interaction and mead-making. The 2-hour experience was smoothly divided into an introduction, meeting the bees, and tasting and making mead.

It was a pleasant, no-fuss adventure—a unique blend of urban living and nature right in Singapore. We even fed the bees, explored the hive, and learned about their efforts to protect bees locally.

Pro-tip: Sample various local honey types and discover the incredible efforts made to protect wild bees in Singapore.

City Sprouts

Address: 102 Henderson Road

Contact: +6564686772

Hours: Daily, 9 AM–6 PM

Fees: $$

Website

At City Sprouts, Li Li kindly gave us a tour of the chicken coop, aquaponics setup, and various plants. We’re impressed with the team for turning this former school into a unique urban farm where we could enjoy a city farm experience with plants and animals.

The farmers market is great, featuring unique local makers. We loved the farm tour—seeing aquaponics, mushrooms grown on sawdust, and methane from food waste powering the garden kitchen. Plus, the terrarium-building lesson was a fun bonus!

Pro-tip: The small eatery, once the school canteen, now serves tasty Thai food.

Nature Kindred

Address: 65 Sungei Tengah Road

Contact: +6580628148

Hours: Saturday to Sunday, 10 AM–7 PM

Fees: $$

Website

Nature Kindred gave the kids in my life a much-needed escape from city life, bonding over guppy-catching and plant potting. Two DIY experiences were particular hits for them: the hands-on prawning adventure and the DIY fishing session.

We left with fish, tanks, and great care tips, and they even let us scoop extra water for a bigger tank on their off day.

Pro-tip: Reserve children’s activities in advance to avoid the disappointment of filled slots.
