As an art lover, ARTBOX is one of my most anticipated events every year since it’s Singapore’s largest creative festival. This year, there will be over 600 brands and artists—both local and international talent.

With art installations, interactive displays, live performances, and more, I’m so excited to experience everything!

What to See

From: artbox_singapore

ARTBOX Estate and Hero Structure

ARTBOX Estate is the first thing you’ll come across when you enter Singapore Expo Hall 4. It’s a massive space that’s inspired by the vibrant environment of Singapore’s heartlands.

Expect to find giant blades of grass and flowers. You’ll feel like an ant in a garden!

At the heart of ARTBOX Estate is Hero Structure, which is a three-story installation made with stacked shipping containers and designed by PHUNK Collective. This installation looks like a communal space, kind of like the house estates we see in the Heartlands.

My favourite part about the Hero Structure is that we can participate in fun activities, such as hosting a karaoke party, complete with a KTV sound system. I can’t wait to sing my heart out like I love to do on a random day when I’m bored.

ARTBOX Convenience Store

ARTBOX Convenience Store puts on display exclusive merchandise that’s made and designed by local artists. In previous years, I bought art prints and mugs here, and now, I can’t wait to see what items are available for us to purchase!

I hear the Aliwal Chess Club has collaborated with designers to create chess-related works. There will be chess pieces that are larger than life! Maybe this is your opportunity to recreate that chess scene from Harry Potter that has gone viral as a meme.

ARTBOX Lounge

If you’re an aspiring artist, then you might want to check out ARTBOX Lounge when you visit. Located above the Hero Structure, the Lounge is meant to be a space for creative professionals to network and collaborate.

Even if art is just your hobby, feel free to mingle here. Take your chance to learn more about art and the business side of art from the experts. You never know what’s going to happen!

The Arcade People

I’m so thrilled that The Arcade People (TAP) will participate in this year’s ARTBOX festival. They will have arcade machines available, allowing me to play my favourite retro arcade classics from my childhood.

Gamestop Arena

While we’re on the topic of gaming, another section I’m looking forward to is Gamestop Arena. This section will look like a shophouse, and inside there will be various Nintendo Switches and VR consoles.

There will also be camping chairs available, so maybe I can sit down and enjoy a cosy gaming session. Hopefully, they have Animal Crossing: New Horizons or even Stardew Valley available.

Beyond Borders Performances

A festival is boring without live music, and thankfully, ARTBOX EVERYDAY has an exciting lineup of amazing musicians.

On Friday, you can expect lively songs that will inspire you to dance like nobody’s watching. Mandopop, K-pop, and J-pop will take centre stage, and there will also be renowned radio station DJs dropping the sickest beats.

On Saturday, the partying mood is replaced by groovy, funky vibes. You can expect a slew of nostalgic tunes from the 90s and even older classics.

Retail Renaissance

Prepare your wallet because once you check out Retail Renaissance, there’s no going back for you! This part of the festival features works by 300 artisans and vendors from Thailand, South Korea, Hong Kong, and Malaysia that you can’t find anywhere else.

I’m excited to see what handcrafted items will be available. I love getting jewellery pieces, in particular, but I also can’t say no to handmade clothing and home décor.

F&B Vendors

ARTBOX is also a treat for foodies because there are many F&B vendors participating.

Personally, I’m looking forward to the desserts sold by After You, a popular dessert chain in Bangkok. Pictures of their honey toasts and Nutella toasts have plagued me for a long time, and I need to try them now.

If you love seafood, you might want to try The Sohtt Collective’s sushi tacos or Slurp Your Oysters’ plate of freshly shucked oysters.
