The Best Asian Restaurants in Singapore Worth the Advance Reservation

  • Atmosphere. We judged the vibes we got from the restaurant. Does the space feel warm and cosy? Ideally, the answer should be yes. If we found the restaurant’s interior aesthetically pleasing, they earned an extra star from us.
  • Taste. Of course, we also judged the dishes we ordered—specifically, if the flavours were well-balanced and tasted good together. Admittedly, this is subjective, so we also asked other customers for their opinions so that we’d have a more insightful review.
  • Service. We gauged how well we were served by the host/hostess and the waiting staff. If we encountered any issues, we observed how fast the staff dealt with them. Once again, we acknowledged that our experience isn’t comprehensive, so we asked other customers for their experiences as well.
  • Pricing. We gauged if the prices on the menu matched the food and service we got. For example, if the dish costs S$20, but it comes with a generous portion size, tastes delicious, and the service is great, that price is worth it for us.

Call me biased, but I think Asian cuisine is the best. It just has no competition, in my opinion. Generally speaking, the dishes are a combination of hearty and savoury, and they don’t skimp on the spices either, so my taste buds are never bored.

It’s a good thing that I live in Singapore because our country has no shortage of restaurants offering Asian cuisines—Chinese, Thai, Malaysian, or an innovative fusion. Some restaurants are even recognised by the Michelin Guide!

In my years spent dining all over the country, I’ve made a list of the best Asian restaurants in Singapore. Here are some of them.

Un-Yang-Kor-Dai Singapore

Un-Yang-Kor-Dai Singapore caught my attention because it’s been recognised by the Michelin Guide every year since 2021. It also received the prestigious Thai SELECT Signature distinction by the Ministry of Commerce, the Royal Thai Government!

It’s one of the best Thai restaurants in the country. Right off the bat, I love its atmosphere. The interior boasts an earthy, natural colour palette, with bursts of colour from the massive sunflower mural. As such, the vibes here are rustic, cosy, and elegant—an amazing combination.

The food is amazing as well. It honours authentic Thai flavours (the fresh herbs and spices are a standout) while also adding a refined modern touch. My favourite is the tom yum soup, which is rich and creamy, while the papaya salad is incredibly refreshing.

I also really like the beverage options. Thai milk tea is a classic, but I personally prefer the iced lemongrass tea. It has a hint of spice that I find refreshing. You can even request your drinks to be less sweet, which I think is a nice feature!

Since this place is popular, it’s nearly impossible to walk in and get a table just like that. You’ll need a reservation beforehand (I recommend at least two weeks before your preferred date).

Additionally, it’s quite difficult to find a parking space nearby, so keep that in mind if you prefer to drive.

Pros

  • Has received a lot of recognition
  • Rustic, cosy, and elegant dining atmosphere
  • Honours authentic Thai flavours while adding a refined modern touch
  • Can make your drinks less sweet

Cons

  • Walk-ins hard to come by (needs a reservation)
  • Hard to find a parking space nearby

Nicely decorated

Place is nicely decorated, Michelin for the past 5 yrs. Food is good but slightly on the pricey side. Thai milk tea is $6 but very gao and is gd to have when you get tired of the food. Ordered the brinjal with minced pork, flavourful and no misses. Grilled chicken half portion is well done, chicken is tender and soft, skin is tasty. The isaan pork is a mix of fats and meat, sauce is sour-ish so mixed well. All good including the service and speed of food being served. But place can get noisy, able to hear conversations and laughter from next table even though they advocate to speak softly. But I guess tt can’t be controlled. Good experience. Reservations required in advance as the place is full at 6.30pm. No slots for walk in even though first seating leaves early as the gap is probably only half an hour.”

Elegant yet inviting atmosphere

Un-Yang-Kor-Dai Singapore is widely regarded as the best Thai restaurant in the city and has been recognized in the Michelin Guide for its outstanding cuisine. The restaurant masterfully balances authentic Thai flavors with a refined modern touch, offering dishes that burst with vibrant spices and fresh ingredients. The restaurant is not very big but elegant yet inviting atmosphere, combined with attentive and friendly service, creates a memorable dining experience for all occasions. Un-Yang-Kor-Dai Singapore sets a high standard for Thai food in the region, making it a must-visit destination for anyone looking to enjoy exquisite, authentic Thai cuisine.”

Restaurant Labyrinth is another widely recognised Asian restaurant in Singapore. This place received a Michelin star in 2025!

The atmosphere here is dark and moody, which is why it’s popular for romantic dates.

The vibes are paired well with great service. During my visit, the staff was cheerful and friendly, and everyone accommodated my needs.

Personally, the tasting menu is one of the most thoughtful I’ve ever tried. It’s a journey through Singaporean culinary traditions, and as someone who’s lived here all my life, the experience is like going on a trip down memory lane.

The menu here is ever-changing, so every dining experience is different. Some standout dishes are the chilli crab (I love the combination of heat and sweetness) and the bak kut teh (the truffle adds an oomph to every sip).

The one downside to this restaurant is the price; it’s definitely on the expensive side. Personally, I find the price worth the experience.

Pros

  • Michelin-starred
  • Dark and moody atmosphere
  • Cheerful and friendly staff
  • Thoughtfully curated tasting menus
  • Different dining experience every time

Cons

  • Expensive

Unique dishes

In a blink of an eye, it’s already 10 years since my last visit. First time was mind blowing as it was new then and I’d never seen Singapore foods deconstructed like this. This time the menu changed slightly to match the season, but it’s like a wine maturing, it was sublime and experiential. Each dish was accompanied by a story of the origin, with each outstanding in it’s own way, and staying true to the original flavours. Special mention to the bak kut teh, well flavoured, the chilli crab puff that came in a McD apple pie-looking pack, the hae mee which was deconstructed into a 3 parts, congee with radish (best), the rojak so polished but tasted exactly like rojak, and the Yusheng – so pretty and delicate, yet kept to the chinese new year taste. There was a also a milo palate cleanser to make it nostalgic for us.”

Elevated and creative take on Singaporean cuisine

As a 100% Singaporean, I truly appreciate every dish here. The menu celebrates flavours that are uniquely Singaporean, yet presented in such an elevated and creative way. What I love most is how I can share not just the food, but also the stories and origins behind each dish with my non-local friends. It’s a super fun tasting experience — playful, nostalgic, and delicious all at once. Definitely a spot I’ll be bringing and recommend more friends to again!”

Located inside Conrad Singapore Orchard, Summer Palace feels as elegant as its host hotel. This Michelin-starred restaurant also boasts bright and airy vibes, thanks to its floor-to-ceiling windows on one side. A summer palace, indeed!

This dining spot specialises in authentic Cantonese cuisine, so you can expect an extensive menu—from tasty dim sum (check out these restaurants if you’re looking for more places to get your dim sum fix) to hearty and savoury entrées.

One of my favourite things to get here is the Peking duck, which is a fatty and savoury delight.

I’ve tried their tasting menu, and I quite like that one as well. The flavour profile for the dishes on this menu is more delicate, which is great because I can devour everything without getting sick of the taste.

The standout was definitely the mango pudding, which wasn’t too sweet and tasted refreshing as well.

As someone who always worries about parking when I come to a restaurant, I’m happy to discover that this restaurant gives free parking to patrons. I don’t have to worry about finding a parking spot or paying a fee.

However, the prices here tend to be expensive, which many customers don’t think is warranted.

A customer also told me that the staff served all of their dim sum orders pretty fast, whereas she preferred that they come in intervals so that some of them don’t get cold.

Pros

  • Michelin-starred
  • Elegant, bright, and airy atmosphere
  • Extensive menu of Cantonese dishes
  • Delicate flavors
  • Not too sweet desserts
  • Free parking for patrons

Cons

  • Expensive

Delicious food, professional service

Had a birthday celebration here. Food was delicious as always. One of the dish (cod fish) was a bit too salty. Besides that, all the rest was very good. What stand out was the service from a Mr Alwin. He was very professional, courteous and had an infectious smile and personality. He took time to explain the dishes and very attentive. The restaurant also prepared a complimentary longevity bun for the birthday boy.”

Satisfying dim sum experience

Had a wonderful dining experience during my first visit in Jun 2025. Food was expertly prepared and freshly-made (especially loved their handmade char siew bao). Every dish was served hot or at least warm, which is essential for a satisfying dim sum experience. Tea selection was impressive and thoughtfully curated, featuring creative cocktails inspired by Manhattan. Service staff were prompt and attentive, ensuring our teacups were always filled. Compliments to the kitchen team for the outstanding food, and to service staff for their impeccable hospitality. Will definitely visit again!”

Another fantastic spot you should go to if you’re craving Cantonese cuisine is Man Fu Yuan Restaurant. Situated inside the InterContinental Singapore, this restaurant has been acclaimed by the Michelin Guide.

The vibe inside is warm and cosy. However, during peak hours, the place gets a bit noisy, which ruins the cosy atmosphere.

More importantly, the food here is amazing, perfectly balancing Cantonese flavours with modern innovations.

My favourite thing to get is the Iberico pork collar, which is smoked and roasted to perfection. Then, it’s glazed with a honey sauce, giving a decadent sweetness to its smoky, savoury flavour profile.

I have to commend the staff as well. Their servers are attentive and take the effort to introduce each dish when it arrives. Plus, when we don’t know what to get, they give us thoughtful recommendations based on our preferences.

They can even arrange for a cake if you’re celebrating a birthday!

Pros

  • Acclaimed by the Michelin Guide
  • Warm and cosy atmosphere
  • Perfectly balances Cantonese flavours with modern innovations
  • Attentive staff
  • Can arrange a cake for birthdays

Cons

  • Can get noisy during peak hours

Fantastic food

The food by chef Cheong is fantastic. I had a really good time eating all the food. The crispy prawn beanpaste curd roll with mayonnaise is awesome. Had 2 serving of this. We were attended by chin chin and Shirley who provided personalized service by suggesting taking beetroot desert which is also really good. Again I took 2 servings. If you’re looking for a way to have a great day dining experience do consider coming here.”

Exceptionally attentive staff

Impeccable 6-star service at Man Fu Yuan. Our server was exceptionally attentive, thoughtfully introducing each dish as it arrived and guiding us through the recommended tasting sequence. She returned to our table several times to refill our Chinese tea, promptly clearing the table once we had finished, and even engaged us in pleasant conversation. We truly enjoyed not only the lunch but also her warm and thoughtful service.”

Restaurant Ibid has an interesting design. The interior features off-white and brown tones, and the front has drawers that remind me of a traditional Chinese medicine hall. It’s subtly elegant.

The chef is another highlight here. It’s run by Chef Woo Wai Leong, who, if you didn’t know, was once a lawyer-in-training who won the first season of MasterChef Asia!

He’s personable, checking in and chatting with every guest. If you’re lucky, you can even take a seat by the bar, where you can chat with him as he’s preparing your meal.

I have to commend the food as well. Unlike other restaurants on this list, Ibid doesn’t stick to authentic Asian flavours. They fuse flavours from different Asian and Western cuisines instead.

This restaurant has a tasting menu that changes frequently, which I find exciting. I keep thinking about that century egg appetiser. The depth of the umami flavour astounded me, and I can’t wait to try it again!

However, one downside to this restaurant is that they can’t accommodate people who are allergic to gluten, lactose intolerant, or vegan.

Pros

  • Elegant interior
  • Personable chef and staff
  • Wonderful Asian fusion flavours
  • Ever-changing tasting menu

Cons

  • Can’t accommodate some dietary restrictions

Beautifully presented dishes

I dined at Ibid on the last night of my first trip to Singapore and it was the perfect evening to cap things off. For anyone who is interested in restaurant culture, sitting in front of the bar or kitchen is the best place to be. My partner and I loved chatting with the chef and bar manager as they presented and explained each dish. Since we are avid diners, we asked a lot of questions and it was great to learn about the inspiration and techniques for the menu. The restaurant also has a bookshelf of cookbooks that’s fun to look through.”

Wonderful food service and atmosphere

Came here for my partner’s birthday dinner and thoroughly enjoyed the food service and atmosphere. All the chefs clearly know their craft and enjoy cooking great food. Shoutout to the team for doing such a great job explaining the food and entertaining all our questions haha. Thank you so much team Ibid for the memorable dinner!
