Walking on Sunshine is one of my favourite hair salons in Singapore, and one of the reasons for this is the salon’s atmosphere. With lush greenery and wooden furniture, the whole place gives off calming vibes, which I love.

I also love how they offer many services. You have the classic options of haircuts, perm and colour, hair and scalp treatment, hair extensions, and a Korean-style head spa, but they can also do makeup and personal colour analysis for you. 

It’s easy to book an appointment here (via WhatsApp), and the customer service is stellar. Every time I need a haircut or I’m thinking about a crazy procedure, I consult my hairdresser first, who gives me her honest opinions on my ideas. I appreciate that.

They’re also accommodating. Sometimes, I do a last-minute booking in the evening, and they’re always more than happy to assist me. 

That said, the prices here can be really expensive. Their haircuts alone range from S$50 to S$120.

Bada Hair is a great choice if you’re specifically looking for a Korean hair salon. Beyond the usual salon offerings of haircuts, perms, colouring, and the like, you can also get intensive scalp care, facials, Korean makeup, and even ear spa services!

I have to commend their customer service. I have a friend who’s a hijabi, but she really wanted to try their head spa and scalp care. To her surprise, the salon actually has private rooms for hijabi customers. It’s such a thoughtful feature. 

Clients get pampered while waiting as well. I’ve been served some complimentary drinks every time the salon is busy, and I have to wait for my turn. 

However, take note that the prices here are really high. For reference, their haircuts range from S$60 to S$150, while their styling rates fall between S$45 and S$75. They also charge for a few add-ons (e.g., extra ironing), so your bill can rack up fast.

On the bright side, they have a referral program. If you successfully refer a friend, you and your friend can earn S$150 in salon credits. That seems like a sweet deal!

I was thrilled to discover that Hair Studio Flamingo has two locations in Singapore: one in Tanjong Pagar and another in Tiong Bahru. This is good news because it means I have options; if one location is booked, I can just go to the other one! 

The menu of services is more curated, which I like. They only offer hair-related services like haircuts, hair and scalp treatment, hair colouring, perming and straightening, and eyelash services. If you want facial or makeup, you’ll have to go elsewhere. 

The prices can be expensive (haircuts cost S$75 and S$85 for men and women, respectively), and every stylist has their own special charges, but the salon has promotions. If you book a service and a treatment, you can score up to 20% off! 

I have to commend the interior as well. It’s not as overtly decorated as the others I’ve visited, but I still like how clean the space is. Also, the simple interior design does make me feel calm and at ease.

That said, some clients have had issues with the stylists. One shared that his stylist was slow—each trim was only a few millimetres, he said—and he didn’t like it.

Another shared that her stylist was very rough during her keratin treatment, which made her feel uncomfortable.

I know Kimage for their hairdressing school, so imagine my delight when I learned they have a hair salon as well. I was even more delighted when I learned that the salon has several locations all over Singapore, making it more accessible.

The main selling point of this salon is their affordable prices. For haircuts, the most expensive option is S$75 (done by one of the principal hairstylists), and this already includes shampoo and blow-dry. For other salons, S$75 is their base price! 

Clients also love the service here, which many call “simple but top-tier.” The stylists are knowledgeable and masters of their craft. One client shared that her stylist understood her hair texture, condition, and face shape, and she gave useful tips.

The salons also have a lovely design and are pretty clean. They even have snacks and drinks available for clients, which we love. 

The one downside to this salon is their array of services. It’s limited, just sticking to the most classic options (e.g., haircut, hair colour, perm, and keratin treatment). It would’ve been lovely if they had other hair-related services like a head spa and hair extensions.

Another great hair salon to check out if you want affordable rates is IMPULSE. They have special discounts as well. For example, newcomers can enjoy a 30% discount, 10% for returning clients, and 20% for clients who bring a friend along.

The lineup of services is impressive as well. You have the basic haircut and hairstyling, but they also offer hair colouring, straightening, perming, and hair and scalp treatments. 

Interestingly, they have an Impulse Omakase experience, which is basically you letting the hairstylist do whatever they think is good. I’ve never done it, but it sounds exciting. 

I also really like the salon’s location. It’s right on Beach Road, with a bus stop nearby. So, getting to this salon is pretty easy.

That said, I’ve heard some mixed reviews when it comes to the stylists themselves. One client told me that her stylist didn’t listen to her wishes and ended up cutting more than she wanted.

Knowledgeable hairdressers 

“Been going to this place for a couple of years for my colour jobs and they’ve always turned out great. The bleach doesn’t dry your hair out much (parts of my hair has been bleached 4 times), compared to some places i’ve tried where my hair felt like hay after bleaching. They are knowledgeable and will warn you if the colour you choose isn’t a particularly long-lasting one, such as rose gold or ash colours. great service and very friendly!”
