The Best Counselling for Kids in Singapore Helping Parents Support Their Children

License and Certification. Firstly, we checked that they have an undergraduate degree and a postgraduate degree in counselling (bonus points if the degree specialises in counselling children and adolescents) from a renowned institution like the Singapore University of Social Sciences.

We also checked to see if the counsellors are registered with the Singapore Association for Counselling (SAC). If they are, it means they have completed a minimum of 600 hours of supervised clinical practice and 50 hours of face-to-face supervision.

Variety of Services. We prefer a clinic with counsellors who specialise in many types of issues, such as anxiety and depression, PTSD, low-esteem, and grief.

Additionally, we’d like it if the counsellors are trained in various modalities so that they can custom-tailor the counselling session based on the client’s needs.

Counselling Style. A lot of children are nervous about counselling, so we’d like it if the counsellors have a warm and inviting personality. Since our experience is limited, we interviewed other clients and their parents about their time with the counsellors.

Pricing. As much as possible, the rate for each counselling session should be between S$200 and S$250. It would be great as well if the clinic could offer session packages so that the client would only have to pay one lump sum for several counselling sessions.

Additionally, we’d like it if the sessions are covered by insurance. That way, the clients’ parents can save money whenever possible.

Taking care of our mental health is important, which is why I like to book a counselling service at least once a month. This includes my kid because these days, she lashes out when she’s overwhelmed, and I think a professional’s guidance would be very useful.

Fortunately, there are many child psychologists in Singapore, and they offer all sorts of services, including assessments and counselling. They even specialise in different modalities, such as cognitive behavioural and music therapy.

If, like me, you’re looking for a counsellor for your child, here are some excellent clinics to check out.

  • Limited online booking options; initial appointment may require waiting

It was easy to schedule appointments and make payments

“I recently capped off my sessions with Julie, having worked with her since December 2022. I had a great experience having her as my counsellor, and she gave me tools and insights that I found very constructive and helpful. Administratively, it was easy to schedule appointments and make payments, while communications such as appointment reminders and issuance of receipts were also prompt and efficient. Happy with my experience overall.”

• Atiqah Mokhtar, Google Review

You can feel their genuine care and concern to ensure the best for their clients, and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a safe and supportive space for psychological support.”

Bearie Learning Space is a Child Psychology and Educational Therapy Clinic in Singapore that supports children with learning, developmental, behavioural, emotional, and school-related needs. The centre focuses on understanding each child as an individual, so that support is not based on a one-size-fits-all approach, but on the child’s learning profile, emotional needs, family context, and school environment.

Its counselling and intervention services are tailored to help children build confidence, emotional regulation, communication skills, coping strategies, and readiness for school demands. In some cases, a child’s emotional or behavioural difficulties may also be linked to underlying learning, developmental, attention, or school-related challenges. Bearie Learning Space is trained to help families gain greater clarity on these possible underlying issues, so that support can be planned in a more targeted and meaningful way.

The counselling team at Bearie Learning Space is made up of trained and accredited professionals who work with children and families in a thoughtful, developmentally appropriate manner. Their approach is grounded in professional training, ethical practice, and practical experience, giving parents reassurance that their child is supported by practitioners who understand both emotional wellbeing and school-related challenges.

Under the guidance of Eulisia Er, Principal Educational Psychologist, Bearie Learning Space brings together professional experience in child development, educational psychology, and intervention planning. For families looking for thoughtful and practical support, the centre offers a holistic care journey that helps children not only manage current challenges, but also develop the skills and confidence needed to progress over time.

Pros

  • Personalized support plans
  • Experienced psychology team
  • Holistic child-focused approach
  • Supports diverse developmental needs

Cons

  • Many services may overwhelm some parents

Professionalism and patience of Gabriel and Eulisia

“I am impressed by the professionalism and patience of Gabriel and Eulisia, who are not very calculative about stopping the sessions on the exact duration, but always willing to go the extra mile to answer our questions and needs. During each first session of a therapy, Gabriel will always be there to ensure everything runs smoothly. We are blessed to have Claudia as our therapist too, who is always so patient to our son, and also always think of ways and alternatives to aid us in improving our situation. She is very understanding and encouraging, and whenever we feel worried about certain situation, she will always ensure us that everything is going fine, and patiently explain to us to let us have a peace of mind. We can also see that she always wants the best for our son. Within a short span of just a few months, we can see the improvement in our son.”

• PeterArts, Google Review

Eulisia has been most patient and kind

“Eulisia has been most patient and kind in explaining to us the assessment done for my child. With that, we were matched with teacher Thila who had 1-1 therapy sessions with my child. It helped her cope with the challenges of reading and understanding. She always enjoys her sessions and the snacks. She has improved a lot and we are thankful to Bearie Space for all the help thus far.”

Psych Connect boasts a wide array of services—from therapy and counselling to psychological assessments—but they’re best known for their specialised services for children and families.

They even offer specialised support, which is great news. If your kid suffers from speech issues or social and communication problems, for example, the professionals here can help them out.

The counsellors in this clinic deserve their praise as well. My kid can be a lot to handle at times, but her counsellor is compassionate and patient. I also appreciate that she shares practical strategies that I can try with my child at home.

The clinic is in a wonderful location, too. It’s in a quiet street, near several schools, and there are a few bus stops nearby. Because of this, the commute isn’t too difficult for us.

The one downside to this clinic is the pricing. It can be pretty high—around S$300 for us. So, keep that in mind.

Lastly, I like that they accept several payment methods, including cash, cheque, online banking, PlatoPay, and credit card. This makes their services accessible to many people.

Pros

  • Wide array of services, including specialised support
  • Compassionate and patient counsellors
  • Quiet and convenient location
  • Accepts several payment methods

Cons

  • Expensive

Genuine compassion and dedication

I cannot speak highly enough about the outstanding care we received for our son from Occupational Therapist Abelle. From day one, she has demonstrated not only deep expertise but also genuine compassion and dedication. She began with a thorough, insightful assessment, and her clarity in the process and structure of assessment put us at ease. Abelle provided clear, practical feedback after the assessment and equipped us with at-home strategies. I will definitely recommend Psych Connect services to any parent. Five stars without hesitation!

Warm and compassionate team

I always recommend Psych Connect to friends and colleagues. The team is warm, compassionate, and truly committed to supporting their clients. Dr. Sanveen made a big difference in helping my niece manage her anxiety. We’re so grateful to have found her. Thank You Dr. Sanveen!

What makes Dynamics Psychological Practice stand out from the rest is the fact that their sessions aren’t just on-site. They also offer therapy at home or virtual therapy sessions, which are great options for clients with packed schedules.

The lineup of services here is also impressive. In addition to booking a counselling session for your child, you can also get them assessed for any possible conditions. If they do have a condition, the counsellors can help them with specialised support.

The prices are pretty reasonable as well. Child counselling is usually around S$240 per session, but if you book a 10-session package, you can score a discount in which each session only costs S$216. That’s a sweet deal, if you ask me!

I also like that the clinic offers their services in multiple languages, namely English, Bahasa, and Chinese. This makes sessions easier for kids whose first language isn’t English.

However, I’ve heard that the sessions aren’t very flexible. If you cancel your child’s session, you’ll be charged a cancellation fee. This is incredibly upsetting, especially if the circumstances that led to the cancellation are sudden and out of your control.

Pros

  • Offers therapy at home and virtual therapy sessions
  • Impressive lineup of services
  • Reasonable prices
  • Multiple languages available

Cons

  • Inflexible sessions (there’s a cancellation fee)

Skilled therapists

We came from overseas and visited Dynamics for intensive therapy, and we are truly grateful for the progress our child has made in speech Dev. A special thank you to Ms. Wan Ling, who is an amazing speech therapist. Her skills made a huge difference in our son’s communication. We truly appreciate the lessons she shared with us and the care she provided throughout the sessions. We would also like to thank you, Rosette, for the excellent arrangements during our stay. She ensured that all went smoothly, always kept us updated, and responded promptly to every inquiry. We felt very well taken care of. We plan on returning in the upcoming months and still choose dynamics for their excellent service and we strongly recommend Dynamics Therapy Group to other families.”

Amazing customer service

My child has been going for OT since 2018 and he has made tremendous improvement in all areas. The therapists are very experienced, professional and compassionate, especially the Clinical Director, Ms Yael. The customer service officers are very helpful and caring. My son has received many academic excellence & good behavior awards from school thanks to the tender loving care from all the therapists and staff of Dynamics. Therefore, I often refer Dynamics to other parents.”

Bloom Child Psychology comes highly recommended among families, and I can see why. This clinic specialises in child and adolescent psychology, and the practitioners here can handle all sorts of issues, such as ADHD, dyslexia, and intellectual disabilities.

Parents and kids alike praise the counsellors here, saying that they’re warm, friendly, and great at making children feel comfortable.

The clinic also offers intake consultations. This session is for parents to discuss their concerns about their child’s development. This is also when the counsellor provides feedback about the child’s sessions and comes up with a practical strategy.

I have to commend their reasonable cancellation policy. So long as you cancel your session at least 24 hours in advance, you won’t incur any charges. No-shows will be charged, but even then, if your situation is an emergency, they will waive the fees.

That said, this clinic operates on an appointment basis only. This means that you can’t just walk in to have an impromptu session, and they aren’t equipped to deal with medical emergencies (i.e., kids with severe mental health conditions and/or who are suicidal).

Pros

  • Specialises in child and adolescent psychology
  • Warm and friendly counsellors
  • Offers intake consultations for parents
  • Reasonable cancellation policy

Cons

  • Operates on an appointment basis
  • Not equipped to deal with medical emergencies

Thorough and child-friendly assessments

We recently visited Bloom Child Psychology and were very impressed by their professional and warm approach. From the start, they made our children feel comfortable. Their assessments are thorough yet child‑friendly, and the feedback session was clear, compassionate and focused on strengths + growth areas. Dr Yang is knowledgeable and attentive, always guiding us through each step. Highly recommended for families looking for caring, expert support for children’s emotional, behavioural, or developmental needs.”

Great experience overall

My son quickly built a strong relationship with the staff at Bloom. He has been very happy with his sessions and has become more confident in himself along with becoming self aware of his unique challenges. We’ve had a great experience, their service has worked well for us.”

Mindful Bear Singapore is ideal for children who aren’t sure about seeing a counsellor. This clinic doesn’t look like a clinic at all. With colourful rooms decorated with toys, this place almost feels like a playground where children can talk about their feelings.

Parents like the counselling approach here. Counsellors use a combination of cognitive behavioural therapy, mindfulness, motivational interviewing, and play therapy, so sessions are engaging for the child.

I also really like that the counsellors are trained to deal with common child and adolescent issues. In addition to ADHD, anger management, and anxiety, the counsellors can also deal with internet or game addiction and bullying.

Another great thing about this clinic is the fact that it has two outlets in Singapore, and both of them are conveniently located (one is inside CTHub, while the other is inside Parkway Centre). Because of this, coming here for sessions is no hassle.

The prices are great, too. First sessions are S$197 while subsequent sessions are S$190 each. That said, you will have to book a package of eight sessions to avail this special price, which is a pretty hefty sum to pay in one go.

Pros

  • Colourful and inviting atmosphere
  • Combination of CBT, mindfulness, motivational interviewing, and play therapy
  • Deals with common child and adolescent issues like ADHD, internet addiction, and bullying
  • Two outlets in Singapore
  • Reasonable prices

Cons

  • Must book a multi-session package if you want to continue

Non-judgmental and supportive staff

My son has been seeing Counsellor Benny for the past few months and we have seen so much improvement in his ability to manage his emotions and behaviour. Benny was able to build rapport with my son right from the first session, which helped my son feel comfortable and open up about the struggles he faced. When speaking with us as parents, Benny has always been non-judgmental and very supportive, offering thoughtful advice and guidance along the way. We recently concluded our last session and my son has gained a lot more confidence and is now able to set clearer goals for himself. We are very grateful for Benny’s care and dedication.”

Incredibly effective sessions

We visited Mindful Bear and were fortunate to have Ms. Sharon take our case. The sessions were incredibly effective—we saw significant improvement in our son, from being destructive when angry to learning how to calm himself down independently. Ms. Sharon created a safe space where our son could express feelings he never shared with us before. Her guidance, encouragement, and practical steps were not only helpful for him but also empowering for us as parents. When we first approached Mindful Bear, we were at our wits’ end, and we’re truly grateful to have found them.”

If your child struggles with speech issues or underdeveloped motor skills, The Grounds Therapy Singapore is their best bet. After all, this clinic is best known for their speech therapy, occupational therapy, and private early intervention.

The counsellors take on a strengths-focused approach. With this approach, the counsellors provide useful tips on improving language abilities and other skills, which parents can try to implement at home to fast-track the child’s development.

Another thing that parents like about the counsellors here is their quick response. I’ve heard many stories of parents sending questions outside the sessions, and the counsellors responded in no time.

Parents also praise how understanding and accommodating the team is. One parent told me that she was struggling to pay the bill, but the director herself, Dr Jing Ke Koh, arranged an instalment payment plan for her. The client appreciated this gesture.

If I have to be nitpicky about this clinic, it’s the location. Though it’s right along Jalan Kembangan, the bus stops are slightly far from the clinic. There’s also no dedicated parking lot, which is another inconvenience.

Pros

  • Specialises in speech therapy, occupational therapy, and private early intervention
  • Strengths-focused approach
  • Quick to respond
  • Understanding and accommodating team
  • Instalment payments available

Cons

  • Bus stops slightly far from the clinic
  • No parking lot

Strengths-focused approach

Long overdue review – we had a great experience at the Grounds for the almost two years our son was enrolled there. I was impressed by the high quality of the services provided to my child. They took a very strengths-focused approach and gave useful tips (e.g. on how to improve language abilities, creating personalized social stories to tackle challenging home situations). They were also very efficient in responding to any questions we had, during and outside of parent-teacher meetings. My child aced the milestones set out in each of the early intervention plans. My child’s expressive and receptive language abilities and adaptive skills also improved a great deal and he has successfully adapted to a mainstream preschool. I’d highly recommend the Grounds to anyone.”

Friendly therapists

I was impressed right at the beginning from the initial assessment. Teacher Jing Kể managed to pick up on what my son was lacking just based on that 1 hour. She gave us a lottttt of practical tips that we didn’t get at KKH CDU unit, which we quickly applied and saw results. Decided to sign up for speech therapy sessions with her even though we had to make some schedule adjustments on our end but no regrets! She was patient and super attentive to my son’s changing behavior. Thank you teacher Jing Ke, I’m so thankful our paths crossed and you were able to help point us in the right direction. All the other teachers were super friendly too! Would definitely recommend the grounds to anyone seeking speech therapy services.”
