The Best Photo Studios in Singapore for Hassle-Free Pro Shoots

  • Equipment: We put the focus on places with quality gear, such as Godox lighting systems and Canon EOS R5. To check, our team reviewed portfolios, contacted the studios directly, and visited in person.
  • Size: Space-wise, most of our choices range from 173 sq ft to 400 sq ft (16 m² to 37m²). That ensures they can handle different shoots, be it a full-blown campaign ad or a couple’s pictorial. Floor plans, service menus, and inquiries were utilised to determine the final verdict.
  • Pricing: The crew favoured studios that are within Singapore’s typical price range, transparent, and not shy about deals. We did interviews, read reviews, called the studios, and reviewed service listings to determine the details.
  • Amenities: Higher points were handed to studios with makeup stations, changing facilities, lounges, or refreshment areas. These were verified through in-person visits, interviews, and virtual tours.
  • Customer Service: Lastly, we evaluated how quickly and professionally the candidates’ staff are by sending emails, calling them directly, reviewing feedback, and conducting interviews.

Most times, all I need for an Insta-worthy snap is my phone, proper lighting, and a few cheeky angles. I didn’t sit through that photography class for nothing, after all.

When the stakes are higher, though, say a product shoot or my sister’s graduation pics, I book photo studios. Their controlled environment and high-end gear are some things my old Samsung can’t compete with.

Now the question is, which specific ones do I make a beeline for? I gathered some of the best ones worth checking out.

Our Photopia contact wasn’t joking when he said the studio is all about self-expression. Every shot, pose, and outfit was completely our choice (but, of course, the staff still had to guide us on how to use the gear and lighting equipment).

Quality-wise, we’re not moaning. There were no blown-out highlights or blurry snaps, plus the clean backdrops fit our ‘modern and chic’ theme.

We didn’t pay a fortune either. The 20-minute shoot cost less than S$40 (and that’s not per head), which is a steal considering the ‘take unlimited shots’ policy.

The space is also roomy enough for corporate or family shoots. In fact, their packages don’t have a guest limit.

My favourite part? Their Korean makeup/hairstyling deal. Nab this, and Photopia’s stylists will glam you up, which is why it’s my go-to choice for a couple/professional shoot.

Boy, is it hard to lock in a slot, though. The staff can also be hit or miss.

Pros

  • Low prices
  • Unlimited shots
  • Offers Korean makeup packages
  • Pet-friendly
  • No guest limit
  • You can bring your own props

Cons

  • Staff can be rude at times
  • Often fully booked

    Very Patient and Helpful

It was a really fun experience! The staff on duty… was very patient and helpful. It’s my first time so I didn’t know what to do. Being an awkward and self-conscious person didn’t help, but she was very reassuring. A definite must try!

It’s not hard to identify a photo taken in White Room Studio. For over 16 years, they’ve been producing snaps, usually candid family and corporate pics, best described as ‘fine art.’

You see, the studio is tucked within a 2,400 sqft, 1920-built Peranakan shophouse. As a result, their gallery is filled with photographs that showcase the heritage space’s posh interiors and natural light.

They’re not limited to a single room either. There’s no shortage of concept areas here—think airy balconies and intricately designed European walls.

Unsurprisingly, the rates aren’t exactly light on the wallet.

I’ve also noticed the staff is kind of transactional. Follow-ups or post-shoot checks aren’t really their thing.

On a positive note, it’s hard to deny they’re well-decorated, picking up accolades like the Reader’s Choice Best Photographer Award in 2023.

    Pros

    • Thoughtfully styled areas
    • Massive (2,400 sqft)
    • Award-winning
    • Open since 2009
    • Famous for family/corporate pics
    • Dog-friendly

    Cons

    • Expensive
    • Lack of follow-ups

      Kind and Helpful

The White Room Studio always has a beautiful and cozy setup… Justin was very professional and patient, he made us feel at ease and kept our kids happy and entertained… Dan was super kind and helpful during our photo viewing… allowing us to select the most precious moments to bring home.

      Worth Every Dollar

I had an amazing photoshoot experience… The studio has an authentic charm… Randy made me feel at ease and got to know my story first… I had so many good photographs that I had to take some time to shortlist… Be prepared to spend a few hundred dollars… but in my view, it was worth every dollar spent.

I’ve always been a fan of studios with makeup lounges, a major reason The Beautybox cracks a spot here. Since 1998, they’ve provided clients with quality photos and professional styling services.

Beyond that, their approach isn’t boxed to one aesthetic; clients are even encouraged to take control of the session and be fully creative. The in-house team simply handles the technical bits, such as lighting adjustments and skin tone matching.

Conceptual or lifestyle shoots can be arranged, too. Their artists can fully customise the space to complement your desired visuals, which means themes like retro or minimalist are fair game.

Clearer rate breakdowns would go a long way, though. Clients have complained about paying more than the expected price due to confusing details.

Their email response could also be quicker and nicer.

      Pros

      • Open since 1998
      • Offers styling/makeup services
      • Fully customisable shoots
      • Known for corporate headshots

      Cons

      • Unclear pricing system
      • History of rude and slow emails

        Professional

It was my first visit to BeautyBox Studio… Angel patiently walked me through the process and did some light makeup… Photographer Christopher was exceptional—friendly, professional, and clearly experienced… I ended up loving almost every photo he took!

My Photo Was Emailed to Me Speedily

I had to get my passport photo taken… The makeup was done nicely and naturally… photos taken by Chris were done within minutes… I greatly appreciate that my photo was emailed to me speedily so I could quickly submit it.

Photomatic nails the convenience factor. For starters, it’s in Funan Mall, less than 20 minutes from the Singapore CBD.

Pricing is straightforward as well. Based on my previous visits, you just pay a fixed price for 20 to 40 minutes of shoot time, then add S$5 to S$20 for extras like frames or photo strips.

In terms of space, it’s fairly standard if we’re talking Singapore, but there are roomier alternatives. Still, I appreciate their ‘no guest limit’ policy.

Even better, the studio’s backdrops and props are versatile, so there’s no need to bring your own.

One downside, however, is their inconsistent schedule. It’s wise to call before travelling to ensure they’re indeed open.

On top of that, Photomatic doesn’t provide in-house wardrobe and make-up assistance (make up artists singapore), unlike their sister branch, Photopia.

Still, their cheap fees remain a major draw. I’ve taken unlimited shots for as low as S$35.

        Pros

        • Affordable
        • Straightforward pricing system
        • No guest limit
        • Convenient mall location
        • In-house props

        Cons

        • Inconsistent operating hours
        • No wardrobe/styling help

          Enjoyed Our Time

Visited the studio during one of their busiest day… Had a wonderful time there & Nikko assisted us during the printing. His friendliness & assurances made me & my partner really enjoyed our time up till the end!

If you’re organising a larger shoot, Firefly is probably the strongest option here. They’ve been capturing wedding, corporate, and family photos since 2012.

Having prominent clients, such as Friso, M1, and Cordlife, also enhances their credibility. On the other hand, that means they might not be the best choice for those seeking a quick 20 to 30-minute appointment.

The upside? Firefly’s packages remain within Singapore’s average prices, with the popular family package starting at just S$328. Each option includes unlimited photos, typically lasting between 1 and 2 hours.

Our interviewees, especially parents, also highlighted their staff’s fun energy, which often makes longer shoots feel more relaxed, even for babies.

Regarding turnaround times, there can be some delays. We’ve heard reports of delays stretching to a month or more.

The good news is that they do offer instant and mobile photo printing booths, though they’re not cheap.

          Pros

          • Open since 2012
          • Specialises in larger shoots
          • Dog-friendly
          • Energetic staff
          • Reasonable packages
          • Offers instant photo printing booth services

          Cons

          • Not suited for smaller shoots
          • Slow turnaround

            Guided Us

We had a wonderful family photoshoot with our toddler… Hafiz guided us every step of the way, making us feel completely at ease… The photos turned out lovely… Highly recommend for family shoots, especially if you have little ones.
