When the sewer line in my parents’ house started backing up during a rainy weekend, Mr Plumber came through fast for us. Their team arrived within an hour and quickly diagnosed a collapsed pipe that needed replacement. 

They handled the PUB permits, excavation, and new pipe installation efficiently, finishing everything in less than two days (even before Mum threw a hissy fit). The crew kept the site tidy and updated us at every stage, so things were relatively stress-free.

Their warranty covered both materials and workmanship, giving us peace of mind that we wouldn’t be left with future repair costs. We also appreciated the 24/7 emergency response and transparent, itemised quotes before work started.

For homeowners or landlords, they’re a reliable one-stop solution for drainage and sewer line issues. Their plumbers are licensed and well-versed in PUB regulations, so no worries about shortcuts or red tape problems later on.

However, prices are on the higher side (S$140 for exposed pipe leaks, with major piping replacement upwards of S$500 for HDB units) compared to smaller contractors.

Before my sister moved to her Tiong Bahru condo, she had Straits Union Engineering handle all the messy underground work. They rerouted her sewer lines smoothly while keeping her kitchen renovation on schedule.

Their engineers managed every PUB submission and internal drainage drawing required by the condo’s management. It saved her the headache of dealing with multiple approvals and unclear paperwork.

She raved about how neatly the crew worked, sealing up trenches each day and keeping noise to a minimum (a big plus in a tight estate). 

Their work is backed by a one-year workmanship warranty, which covers both the rerouted and original connections.

It was a pricey job (rerouting started at around S$2,000), but she did get a detailed breakdown of materials and labour before the job began. The company’s emergency plumbing division also offers quick response for future repairs and maintenance. 

That said, their service rates are slightly higher than average for small-scale works.

When a cafe owner I know on the East Coast decided to expand and add new restrooms (hey, caffeine is a natural diuretic!), he engaged Nile Plumbing to handle the new sewer connection. The result was fantastic, so I asked him about the process.

They took the time to map out the layout so kitchen waste and sewage lines stayed completely separate, which is crucial for NEA and PUB compliance. Their team managed all drawings and submissions for the public utility permit.

They coordinated with the cafe’s renovation to avoid delays, as well. As for the workmanship warranty, they offered 90 days, along with clear terms covering their installation labour.

My cafe owner-pal was impressed by how they used the pipe relining method, which is a trenchless technique using a resin-capped liner,  and kept the site clean throughout the project. 24/7 emergency calls are available for peace of mind, too.

But because they’re very responsive and clear about quality, their hourly labour rates are a bit higher than ultra-budget plumbers. Also, they schedule by availability for large-scale jobs, so immediate starts might need extra lead time.

My childhood friend’s home in Bukit Timah had sewage backing up their garden after heavy rain, which was unpleasant to say the least. His family immediately called Everyworks Singapore to replace the collapsed main sewer line that connects to the public system.

For the longest time, my grandparents’ old Toa Payoh flat kept having sewage chokes, so I finally called Teck Hien Engineering to check the vertical stack. They quickly found that the corroded cast iron pipes were the cause and suggested a full replacement with durable PVC ones.

Their team handled the entire process, including PUB permits, pipe removal, and branch clean lining. They managed to finish within three days, keeping noise levels low so the elderly neighbours won’t be disturbed.

I was there to observe, so I saw how the crew used pipe-jacking and confined-space tools designed for older HDB blocks, so the replacement was efficient and safe. We were glad for the one-year workmanship warranty covering leaks and joint failures, too.

The supervisor explained every step to us to ensure my grandparents understood the process, and went into detail about the itemised invoice. They even disposed of the old pipes responsibly according to NEA standards.

Do note that our experience was a rare one, as Teck Hien’s services lean more toward infrastructure jobs, so smaller home projects may wait longer for scheduling. We were lucky to have found an available slot for my grandparents.
