Pros
- Offers all kinds of Nordic and Scandinavian-style carpets
- Has a wide range of carpet size
- Perfect for modern homes and office spaces
Cons
- Does not offer other carpet styles outside of Nordic designs
- Delivery may take a while
- Returns are not allowed for other reasons besides a defective or incorrect product
With the hype of all things Nordic not fizzling out just yet, we understand why The Carpet Shop still stands out to this day. Young, up-and-coming Singaporeans, in particular, tend to gravitate to this store, and we think we know why.
Nordic-inspired carpets best fit the modern interiors of recently renovated condos in Singapore, and The Carpet Shop happens to have all sorts of Scandinavian-style products.
With geometrical patterns and brightly colored abstract designs, the carpets from this shop are all statement pieces in their own right.
However, their products don’t just brighten up modern homes but are also perfect to break up the day-to-day humdrum in office spaces.
In fact, our office’s meeting room is adorned with a rather large rug from this store, and many of our coworkers agree that the golden geometric accents have helped with the meeting jitters.
(Although, that could just be a placebo effect, but hey, if it works, it works! Enough said.)
We also like that these carpets come in all shapes and sizes, so if you want a round carpet or one that spans your entire living room, this shop has it for you.
Now, the only downside of this shop is that they only offer Nordic carpets. Anything beyond the familiar Scandinavian-inspired patterns is out of the question.
We also found out that most of the time, they deliver your carpet three to five days after your purchase despite promising to have it on your doorstep within two working days.
Furthermore, they don’t accept returns unless they sent you an incorrect order or if the carpet is defective. So if you happen to pick a carpet a size too small or too big for your designated space, sadly you cannot return it.

Pros
- Offers a wide variety of Asian and Middle Eastern-inspired carpets
- Carpets are handcrafted using high-quality materials such as wool and silk
Cons
- Products are expensive
- Returns are not allowed for other reasons besides a defective or incorrect product
The Orientalist is a carpet shop in Singapore known for their meticulously designed and high-quality carpets that make architects, interior designers, and homeowners swoon.
The shop has a collection of carpets heavily influenced by Asian and Middle Eastern styles.
We admit that at first, we were a bit intimidated to step into this shop since the overall ambiance felt lavish.
Well, it turned out that we have every reason to be awestruck because their carpets weren’t just aesthetically pleasing but also feel luxurious to the touch.
Their hand-knotted carpets, for that matter, were soft and didn’t have the chafing feeling that low-cost carpets often have.
When we checked their price tags, we weren’t surprised to see the many zeroes that we normally aren’t accustomed to.
However, we believe it’s justified because most of The Orientalist’s products are handcrafted by expert weavers and are made with high-quality materials like pure silk, sheep, and goat wool.
As for their return policy, The Orientalist doesn’t accommodate returns since most of their products are handcrafted, and some are even customized.
Although, for upscale stores like this one, you ought to be sure and clear about what you want to prevent the likelihood of returning a product for mistakes or misunderstandings.

Pros
- Offers a wide selection of carpets with Persian, Scandinavian, and modern ones
- Affordable
Cons
- Carpets are made from poly fiber fabric, which isn’t the best and softest material to use for carpets
- Delivery may take longer
You have to admit that some spaces demand statement pieces to look complete, and carpets, for one, play a huge factor to achieve it. So we checked out what The Carpetier has to offer and were beyond satisfied by our discovery.
First and foremost, this shop has a wide selection of carpets including Persian, Scandinavian, and even modern, avant-garde ones.
Not only that but these carpets are available in different sizes, which means you can purchase a Persian carpet in small, medium, large, or extra large, depending on the size of the space you want to place it.
When we asked one of the shop employees about their carpets’ fabric, he told us that they primarily use premium-poly fiber or in simpler terms, synthetic fiber.
With that in mind, we did notice that the carpets weren’t as soft as the other ones we encountered from other stores, which were made of sheep or goat wool. The fabric used for their modern carpets, in particular, appeared to be thinner.
However, while the quality of these carpets isn’t top-notch, they are actually quite affordable.
So if you want variety without breaking the bank, add The Carpetier to your list of stores to shop, whether online or in person.
Do note though that online orders take three to four days or more to deliver. Our coworker purchased hers online, and it was delivered after five days, which is admittedly a rather long wait.
4. Hassan’s Carpets

Pros
- Offers hand-crafted carpets with designs influenced by Mediterranean, Middle Eastern, and South Asian styles
- Offers a customization option for customers who want a personalized carpet
- Products are made with high-quality materials such as wool and botanic silk pile on cotton
Cons
- Products are expensive
- Difficult to secure an appointment slot for their carpet customization service
If you want to curate a space that evokes the ambiance of hole-in-the-wall cafes in Marrakech or Turkey, then Hassan’s Carpets is the right place for you.
At the store, we browsed luxurious hand-crafted carpets with intricate and elegant cultural accents.
Their handmade Persian carpets, for one, come in a mish-mash of deep brown, rich maroon, and hints of gold, which can certainly elevate your space and impress your guests.
Not only that but Hassan’s Carpets also offer a customization service where you can collaborate with an expert to design a carpet that is uniquely your style.
We admit we were a bit tempted to order our own, but the price tags on the carpets were quick to eliminate the rush of impulse buying.
In fact, some of their antique rugs that are more than a hundred years old and sourced from countries like Iran can cost up to $6,000! Yep, you read that right.
Don’t be discouraged though because only a few of their carpets are priced like that. And even if they were, they’re reasonably priced considering they’re legitimate antiques.
Now, for those that already have the budget and want to purchase a personalized piece at Hassan’s Carpets, you will need to request an appointment with them days or even a week prior to secure a slot.
However, your preferred day is not always guaranteed, which can be a bummer, especially if you’re working and have a packed schedule.

Pros
- Founding member of the Handknotted Carpet Association in Singapore
- Specialized looms sourced from Iran, Russia, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and India
Cons
- Only has old-school, vintage designs
- Products are expensive
As one of the founding members of the coveted Handknotted Carpet Association in Singapore, Hedger’s Carpet Gallery is undoubtedly considered a trailblazer in the country’s carpet industry.
Since its establishment in 1978, this store hasn’t stopped producing high-quality carpets made with materials sourced from Iran, Russia, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and India.
As for the carpet designs, we found that they lean towards the old-school style and patterns that one would often find adorning the floors of our grandparents’ or our family’s ancestral homes.
The difference, however, is that Hedger’s Carpet Gallery’s products are thick and durable, which can definitely pass the test of time.
And while these designs may look outdated to some, especially with the rise of minimalism and Nordic-inspired furniture, we feel that this store’s products are perfect for people that value warmth and comfort over aesthetics.
In terms of the pricing, we weren’t surprised to find that the products are a tad bit pricier than your usual carpet, but, as mentioned, Hedger’s Carpet Gallery procures specialized looms from various countries.
Not only that, their products aren’t mass-produced, which means making a singular carpet is already labor-intensive and time-consuming.
