Pros
- Offers unique meat cuts
- Generous portions of side dishes
- Attentive staff
- Refined yet cozy interiors
Cons
- Pricey and limited menu
- Time-bound dining
Meadesmoore’s steaks and side dishes are not one to miss especially if you’re dining with friends.
We ordered the Meadesmoore cut to take advantage of the three-steaks-in-one promise. Thankfully, we weren’t disappointed, as the steak was juicy and flavorful, with just the right marbling we wanted.
That said, one of my companions commented that the steak could be a bit more tender.
We think it’s a matter of preference, but do note this if you’re bringing older diners who have no patience with tough meat!
The serving was enough for three people, so we’d like to say it was a great meal overall.
What almost stole the show was the mac-and-cheese side.
I tasted this side in other steakhouses, but I’d like to say that Meadesmoore’s take on the common dish is my favorite for its creamy quality.
It’s a bit of a bummer that dining here is limited to 1.5 hours, though.
While we understand the need, we don’t really like it when a server frequently checks the table to ensure we’re on track with the meal.
That said, we agreed that Meadesmoore is worth returning to for its food and its chic interior vibe.

Pros
- Generous portions
- Charming interiors
- Extensive menu
- Great wine
Cons
- Booking hiccups possible
- Might get too packed for date nights
Bistecca Tuscan Steakhouse’s massive T-bone Florentina is the sole reason why we visited the place despite the lofty price.
Thankfully, it turned out that the cost of this uber-popular steak is not really that expensive if you consider that it fed all four of us.
The serving is meant for two people. But since I was accompanied by light eaters, the steak was enough for us (not to mention that we ordered a few side dishes).
And what about the taste? Well, Biscetta delivered on this one.
Handsomely charred, succulent, and well-seasoned, the steak was easily one of the best I’ve had in a while.
A little downside of choosing the Florentina, though, is that you need to order it in advance. That means booking a reservation, which wasn’t as easy as biting into the resto’s tender meat.
My particular beef with Biscetta’s booking system is the faulty online booking form. I tried to secure a set thrice, but the process wouldn’t finish because of glitches.
Fortunately, somebody answered the phone when I tried calling the restaurant instead.
As for the ambiance, its shophouse style and rustic interiors give Biscetta a cozy yet date night-worthy appeal.
We think the restaurant isn’t serene enough for heart-to-heart talks, though. The place was packed when we visited and everyone was talking, so we needed to raise our voices a little to share opinions about our meal.

Pros
- Less pricey than other steakhouses
- Extensive menu
- Warm ambiance
Cons
- Booking a table is a mission and a half
- Some side dishes are average
Burnt Ends is often preceded by its hard-to-book-a-table reputation, but that didn’t stop us from trying to snag a slot.
By some stroke of luck, we were able to secure a table a month ahead and not the average four months and above wait most customers lament about.
As for the food, we’d like to say we were also lucky with our orders.
Our favorites include the Blackmore cube roll and the flat iron with bone marrow fats. Both had melt-in-your-mouth textures, which were a delight to the taste buds.
Another highlight was the smoky, sweet, and creamy barbecued marshmallow. The play of texture and taste for this dessert was phenomenal and unforgettable.
My companions commented that some side dishes were heavy on salt, though, marring the magical experience a bit.
Thankfully, the gorgeous interiors (we were seated in the cocktail bar), friendly servers, and great wine made up for that minor issue.
However, it’s a bit disappointing that the restaurant is open only five days a week despite moving to a bigger place in Dempsey. So, booking a seat will still be a struggle.

Pros
- Consistent steak quality
- Tasty starters
- Extensive wine selection
- Open daily
Cons
- Pricey
- Can be too busy at times
Cut’s celebrity chef mainstay and Michelin-star accolade are reasons enough to dig into the restaurant’s extensive steak menu.
And while its prices surely dealt some damage to our wallets, we’re glad that the restaurant wasn’t all just lofty promises and glamorous marketing.
The eatery certainly followed through with its USDA Prime ribeye steak.
Cooked to perfect medium rare and seasoned well, the steak was so easy to devour we almost forgot to try the homemade sauce (we did taste it with the sauce, and both options were yummy).
We also like that the steak was served on a hot plate, as it helped retain the meat temperature.
Lest we forget, we suggest that you order the crab cake as a starter. This dish might be a bit pricey compared to the other starters, but the perfect blend of flavors will surely whet your appetite!
However, we’re a little disappointed in a few service slip-ups such as our wait staff taking a tad too long to clear our plates and a minor miscommunication with the dessert order.
We hope the restaurant could improve on these small things considering its high price point.
We also think the desserts were average at best when we visited. The presentation was great for Instagram, but the taste wasn’t something we’d rave about.

Pros
- Attentive and polite servers
- Balanced menu
- Large windows provide pretty ocean views
Cons
- A bit pricey
- Lamb chops might overshadow the steak
Wakanui Grill caught our attention for its highly raved-about lamb chops that are usually served as starters. I’m not a fan of lamb, but this got me curious if the dish can truly work as an appetizer.
The verdict? The lamb chops worked, and I realized that the absence of a gamey taste made all the difference.
My companions also enjoyed the starter so much that they ordered another plate.
As for the steak (the supposed star of the meal), the reactions were mixed. I enjoyed the Ocean Beef ribeye for its light seasoning, as I was able to experience the natural taste of the meat, which was sweet.
The steak’s tenderness and smokiness were also alright for me.
Note, though, that this meat is not cooked like melt-in-the-mouth wagyu, resulting in the disappointment of one of my dining buddies.
She also added that the seasoning was too light for her, rendering the steak bland.
Thankfully, the restaurant has an extensive menu that includes seafood and salad, so we weren’t stuck with meat throughout the meal.
Wakanui Grill’s dishes are pricey, though, so ensure you have enough budget when you visit.

Pros
- Historic Ambiance and Unique Setting
- Quality Steaks and Hearty Dishes
- Communal Dining Experience
Cons
- Difficult to find parking
Cinder Steakhouse, situated in a historic building with a rich colonial history, aims to offer a unique dining experience with a focus on steaks, hearty dishes, and an extensive wine selection.
We think that the restaurant’s location in a black & white building with a colonial history creates a unique and historic ambiance.
Customers can appreciate the calm and quiet atmosphere away from the city, making it suitable for intimate gatherings.
We commend the quality of the steaks, as they are juicy and tender. To add, the menu’s focus on hearty dishes, such as the spring chicken, is well-received, making it a great place for couples and family gatherings.
Cinder Steakhouse encourages communal dining, emphasizing the belief that the best relationships are forged over the dinner table. This approach adds a social aspect to the dining experience, fostering connections among patrons.
We find that they have nice and helpful attendants, prompt service, and it’s overall a positive experience with the staff.
Do note that they have limited parking space, which could pose an inconvenience for guests, especially during peak hours.
