Pros

  • Offers a wide array of shoe repair services
  • Expert at shoe customization

Cons

  • Shoe repair/customization is on a reservation basis
  • Commissions are temporarily closed

Klingsmen Lee, or the “modern cobbler” and the “sneaker doctor” as many fondly call him, is the owner of Classified Footwear.

Lee began his work as a leather craftsman in August of 2021 and eventually became well-known in the shoe repair business. His knack for repairing shoes also led him to become an expert at customizing one.

Our coworker who availed of Lee’s services said that besides having his plain white Converse resoled, he also asked the sneaker doctor to dye it mustard yellow.

For those who aren’t shoe aficionados, it’s well-known in the community that mustard yellow Converses sell out quickly. Our coworker, the wise guy that he is, decided to customize his old shoes instead of scouring malls for restocks.

He told us himself, with a big grin on his face, that his customized sneakers look just like the real ones.

However, since the company has amassed a following and an influx of clients, Classified Footwear temporarily closed its commissions to accommodate the first batch of orders that go as far back as July of last year.

So for now, we suggest that you keep your eyes (or browser) peeled for updates, particularly the resumption of Lee’s services.

Do note as well that this company doesn’t indicate a fixed price for any of its services. So while it’s a bummer to not have an idea of how much to prepare, it’s understandable given that a lot of Lee’s clients also have their shoes customized.

Pros

  • Offers a wide array of services
  • Expert shoe cobblers and craftsmen
  • Has a delivery service
  • Updates clients about the status of their shoes via SMS

Cons

  • Services are pricey
  • Shop employees aren’t hands-on

Since its inception in 2016, Shoe Mo has fixed over 20,000 pairs of shoes from clients all over The Lion City.

With a wide range of services and expert in-house cobblers slash craftsmen, it’s no wonder why many Singaporeans opt to have their shoes repaired in this renowned shop.

I, for one, availed of Shoe Mo’s services and was pleasantly surprised at how neatly they stitched the huge tear on my (very expensive) hiking boots.

Admittedly, I walked into their shop without expecting to be amazed since the very establishment itself is unassuming. In fact, when I went inside, there wasn’t anyone manning the counter, which was weird.

However, despite my initial assumption, their services exceeded my expectations when they asked me for my mobile number so that they could send updates about my shoes. Not only that, but they also offered to deliver my shoes to my doorstep!

And as someone who is a sucker for convenience, I was more than glad to pay extra for the delivery fee.

Just a fair warning though for those who are on a budget that Shoe Mo’s rates lean toward the pricier side. Adding the delivery fee will certainly cost you a pretty penny.

On the other hand, for people who can afford Shoe Mo’s services, I highly recommend it. I believe that you’ll certainly get your money’s worth in this shop.

Pros

  • Have 30 years of industry experience
  • Services are reasonably priced

Cons

  • Range of shoe-related services is limited
  • Busy during peak hours

They say that experience comes with age. The same can be said with Shukey.

Having been present in the shoe repair industry in Singapore for the last 30 years, they have indeed established themselves as shoe repair veteran.

Even though they only provide a limited selection of shoe care services like shoe cleaning, shoe polishing, and sole and heel replacement, Shukey makes up for this drawback by prioritizing quality workmanship.

In fact, a friend of ours has been a patron of Shukey since 2019, and to this day, she still runs to this beloved shop for every shoe-related mishap.

She even told us that she had her fair share of bag repairs at the very same establishment. So despite having a small range of shoe repair services, Shukey has managed to serve our friend for other dilemmas.

On top of that, all of their services are reasonably priced. Availing of two or more services from Shukey won’t even cause a sizeable dent in your pockets.

However, our friend warned us that Shukey gets extremely busy during peak hours. So if you’re ever planning to have your shoes or even bags, repaired in this shop, make sure to go there at a strategic time.

Cons

  • Range of shoe-related services is limited
  • Work turnaround is not prompt

Another well-known shoe repair shop in Singapore that people can’t seem to get enough of is called MasterFix.

If you’re looking for a convenient shoe repair shop that’ll deal with your shoe problem quickly, the nearest MasterFix branch can help you. There are more than five MasterFix shops spread out across the city-state!

Initially specializing in leather repair and key duplication, MasterFix has broadened its scope to offer basic shoe repairs, heel repairs, and shoe alterations.

In fact, according to a relative of mine, MasterFix is also apparently good at handling luxury shoe brands.

After gathering the courage to trust a local shoe repair shop, she threw caution to the wind and brought her Yves Saint Laurent pumps that has a broken heel to MasterFix.

Given that it’s a very expensive investment, she was quite scared at how the repair will turn out. To her surprise, when she picked it up at the branch where she had it fixed, it looked good as new.

However, she did note that it took quite a while before she was notified that her shoes were available for pick-up. Although, it could be that the repairmen at MasterFix took their time with her shoes knowing that they’re extra valuable.

It should also be mentioned that in comparison to most Singaporean shoe repair shops, MasterFix services are still somewhat limited to just shoe repair and alterations. You might need to explore elsewhere if you need more specialized services.

Pros

  • First shoe repair shop in Singapore that has a shoe shine bar
  • Offers a wide array of services
  • Expert at vintage shoes and leather footwear care

Cons

  • Services are pricey
  • Work turnaround is not prompt

Mason and Smith certainly stand out not only for their shoe repair know-how but also for being Singapore’s only shoe repair shop with a shoe-shine bar!

While shoe shining isn’t the usual spectacle that people want to witness, the master craftsmen at Mason and Smith made it like one!

My husband and I were seriously fascinated by the sure hands of the shoe cobbler behind the bar. It’s like watching someone bartend, except he’s holding a tin of wax and my husband’s favorite loafers.

Speaking of loafers, Mason & Smith is an excellent choice for anyone who wants to give their vintage shoes or their collection of leather footwear extra love and care.

They offer everything, including basic shoe shine, mold cleaning treatment, recoloring, toe and heel repairs, glue repair and replacement of elastic, bespoke insoles, and more.

We especially like that their shop website provides thorough information about the services that they offer, along with the associated costs, which is another positive aspect.

However, since Mason and Smith uses high-quality products to preserve the quality of their client’s shoes, it’s expected that their service cost is a tad pricier than other shoe repair shops.

On top of that, the shoe-shining process honestly took a lot of time than we believe was necessary, which made it gimmicky.

So if you’re someone who doesn’t want to spend a lot of money and time for your shoe’s tender lovin’ care, cross this one out.
