Pros
- Transparent and competitive pricing
- Punctual staff
- Does not hard-sell its services
Cons
- Can charge higher for farther office locations
- Not for fledgling businesses
Arkiva Shredding Service is considered a go-to for document shredding in Singapore and for good reasons.
We experienced their exemplary service and were particularly impressed with the company’s punctuality and preciseness.
The staff collected our bins on the dot and delivered us a Certificate of Destruction within days.
We also loved that the company was transparent with its quote. We didn’t encounter any hidden charges, and what’s more impressive was that its rates were one of the best in the market.
That said, we think small companies won’t need to use Arkiva’s service yet if they want to save on operating costs.
Arkiva said it caters to both big and small businesses, but we think those who are just starting theirs can make better use of their money (professional paper shredding can follow later upon the company’s growth).
Also, we think businesses from farther locations will save more if they drop the documents to the company than rely on the collection, as the latter may mean slightly higher charges.

Pros
- Efficient collection
- Paper console option enhances security
- Punctual and friendly staff
Cons
- Charges slightly higher fees
- Communication hiccups possible
KGS Pte. Ltd. is one of the most efficient and helpful paper shredding services we’ve ever used.
Our team has a dedicated staff to prepare confidential documents for shredding, but KGS went out of its way to assist us during collection time.
It’s also great that the service people from KGS weren’t late. Their punctuality made it easier for our staff to carry out their task without issues.
If you want the company to serve you regularly, we think the on-site paper console option can add convenience. This service allows the KGS staff to clear your document bin on-site according to your office’s schedule.
That said, we think KGS’s rates are a bit higher than other services, though still reasonable.
We also encountered little communication mishaps when we contacted the service, which you should keep in mind if you’re a first-time client.

Pros
- Offers three shredding modes
- On-site shredding ideal for manageable document size
- Friendly service staff
Cons
- Possible lack of response
- Scheduling challenges possible
Shred-it stood out to us for its wide range of shredding services available. Aside from the usual one-time service, it also offers regularly scheduled and mobile options.
Of the additional two, we liked more the mobile (or on-site) shredding service. As much as we want to trust shredding companies, nothing can beat the assurance we feel when we can see the document destruction ourselves.
The setup was simple: Shred-it’s staff collected our documents and then shredded them on their truck parked just outside the office.
We also commend the company’s competent and amiable staff.
That said, the on-site option might not work every time due to scheduling constraints (there can only be so many trucks available for on-site shredding).
Also, we still think an overwhelming bulk of documents are better off delivered to a proper shredding site than doing it on a truck.
Shred-it might also be prone to communication issues (e.g. lack of response, mixed-up schedules) due to its many services. Though, we avoided this possibility by constantly following up on the company.

Pros
- Smooth shredding service process
- Senior industry player
- Numerous storage options for further convenience
Cons
- Can be a bit pricier
- Response rate a bit slow
Apart from document and media storage, which it is widely known for, Crown Records Management also offers efficient document destruction services.
Similar to our other picks, the company performed off-site paper shredding after collecting our confidential documents.
Overall, the service was satisfactory, with the staff arriving on time and the company issuing a certificate as proof of document destruction.
We also tried using Crown’s electronic waste and IT asset disposal for some of our office equipment. This service was a bit complicated, but we appreciate that the company did well in granting our requests and specifications.
We think Crown Records Management could do well to be easier to contact, as we had to try multiple times before we can reach them.
We also had to wait to receive the price quotes, which can be an issue for the company’s prospective clients in the future.

Customer service | 4.4/5 |
– Responsiveness | 4.3/5 |
– Attentiveness | 4.5/5 |
Pros
- Senior industry player
- Wide range of services
- Ideal for streamlined data storage and security
Cons
- Not focused on document shredding
- Might be difficult to contact at times
If we’re talking about seniority, Iron Mountain is by far the most qualified from our list thanks to it being a global company.
The original records storage facility operated way back in the 1950s in the US, keeping documents from the Cold War Era. It eventually branched out and now offers modern storage solutions and document/media destruction for companies in Singapore.
This wide range of services made the company a convenient option for streamlining operations. After all, we hired it both for document shredding and secure storage of digital files.
Iron Mountain’s long list of credentials on safekeeping and security, meanwhile, convinced us that our information was in good hands.
That said, we think that the company’s global status is both a strength and a weakness.
It’s, no doubt, reputable worldwide. However, Singaporean business owners may be reluctant to hire an international company if they can pick a local business to handle their confidential documents instead.
Also, we noticed that the company placed more emphasis on its data storage services than paper shredding. It’s possible that the latter might be delayed or might not be as efficient, especially if you’re hiring them for multiple tasks.
