My niece has a stutter, so her mum brought her to Magic Beans because she wanted to understand properly what was going on before starting her daughter on therapy. 

She immediately liked that the team didn’t treat it as a quick checkbox exercise, but instead took the time to look into the little girl’s medical history, developmental milestones, and current level of functioning.

That thorough approach made the clinic feel more reassuring for her than most places that jump straight into sessions without much context. Magic Beans also offers more than just speech therapy; it handles feeding and swallowing therapy, occupational therapy, early intervention, and dietetics support for children with overlapping needs.

It’s especially relevant for my niece because of the targeted support for stuttering rather than a one-size-fits-all program. It struck her mum as a good fit for families who want evidence-based help and a clinic that understands how speech issues can affect confidence, communication, and daily life.

Her only issue, however, is that Magic Beans’ Mountbatten location is a little less convenient since her family doesn’t live nearby.

My girl’s pronunciation has improved greatly

My girl came to Magic Beans for speech therapy to correct her pronunciation since she was 4. Under his patience and guidance, my girl’s pronunciation has improved greatly. He has been very approachable and tactful in the way he guides my girl during the session, and my girl really likes him so much, even to say he is the best Uncle Brian ever! He will also share with my husband and me on how to practice with my girl at home on what was taught during the session. My colleagues’ son has Autism and speech delay, so TLC Speech Clinic came up quickly since they’re very much built around children with developmental and communication needs.

It appealed to the entire family because it’s not a speech-only setup, but a multi-disciplinary clinic offering speech therapy, occupational therapy, educational therapy, psychology, and early intervention under one roof.

That matters to them because their child needs more than clearer speech; he also requires support with communication, school readiness, and daily functioning. The clinic feels more practical for families managing several moving parts at once.

They’re also strong on the family-centred angle. They explicitly emphasise parent training and caregiver support, so it’s an ideal setup for parents who don’t want to be left guessing what happens outside the therapy room.

Their two locations at United Square and Crown Centre also help a bit with convenience, especially for families who want a central clinic with parking.

That said, pricing needs to be enquired directly before parents or guardians can easily compare the clinic rates to those of other speech therapists in Singapore.

Teacher Yui took time to understand possible factors contributing to my son’s condition

Mum is recovering from a stroke, and as her primary caregiver, Speech Barn caught my eye with its free 30-minute teleconsultation. I found it a low-pressure way to test the waters first before committing to full speech therapy for her.

I liked that this isn’t a clinic trying to be everything at once. Instead, it’s a focused practice in Jurong East offering speech, language, and feeding therapy for both kids and adults.

For my mum’s case, the adult service list feels especially relevant. They specifically handle support for adults with stroke, dementia, head and neck cancer, and Parkinson’s disease, which makes it credible for post-stroke communication work.

There’s also group therapy and workshops for parents, caregivers, and professionals. I would recommend it for families who want a smaller, more approachable clinic with clear adult and caregiver support built in.

The main downside is that Speech Barn isn’t the easiest option for clients who find East Jurong out of the way.

I have a cousin who wanted adult speech therapy that felt tailored to her needs instead of being generic. Amazing Collective looked promising for precisely that. They clearly support children and adults, with personalised speech therapy and rehabilitation. 

They’re not a tiny single-serve clinic, either. Amazing Collective has a team of 38 specialists and therapists, and has supported over 10,500 individuals across speech therapy, early intervention, and rehabilitation.

For adults in particular, the service mix feels practical and useful. They offer adult speech, language and voice therapy, swallowing therapy, stroke rehabilitation, and even corporate speech training for clearer professional communication.

Now my cousin recommends this centre to other adults who want customised support for communication, swallowing, or neuro-rehab needs within a bigger multi-disciplinary practice. It helps that the clinic also pairs clients with the most suitable therapist or program.

That said, she still advises enquiring directly about therapist-by-therapist background, given its broad menu of services and programs.

My next-door neighbour suspects her little one may have selective mutism. Thankfully, Ohana Therapy lists this kind of support for selective mutism under its speech and language services.

Straightaway, she liked how they work with children, adolescents, adults, and infants, which makes it feel more flexible than a narrowly paediatric-only clinic. She also appreciates their family-centred, neurodiversity-affirming, and strength-based approach.

For a child who may shut down in social settings, that gentler and more collaborative style feels better for her than a rigid, one-track therapy setup. It helps that its services menu is broader than a standard speech clinic, too.

Besides speech and language therapy, Ohana also offers therapies for feeding, occupational, educational, play, music, art, social communication groups, mobile sessions, and teletherapy (useful for kids needing overlapping support on anxiety, regulation, or school adjustment).

It’s a good fit for families who want a more customised and multi-disciplinary plan, especially for kids with communication needs tied to autism, anxiety, or developmental differences.

That said, parents may still need to enquire in depth to understand which therapist or path fits their child best.
