VickyCares is quite good at sticking to timelines. Both nurses and doctors tend to arrive on time, even for emergency weekend or after-hours jobs.

Nurse Aki (a phlebotomist), in particular, is quite efficient. Even better is his gentle approach; patients like my aunt say his blood extractions rarely hurt.

Knowing he works closely with a patient’s primary medical specialist adds confidence too. This applies to the entire team.

Service range is another pro. They have over 20, mostly medical-focused, with stoma care, phlebotomy, and home/tele-health consults as the most popular.

If you’re seeking non-medical assistance, though, that would make them a bad fit. Some of the names below are more suited for daily living support.

Bookings must also be made a day ahead, lest you pay $50 more for same-day service.

The good news is VickyCares doesn’t overcharge. For Singapore, the rates make sense.

What drew us to Jaga-Me is their holistic model. You can phone them for house calls, ADL support, nursing procedures, specialised care, and allied health services, like speech therapy.

And they hardly mess up the comms; the WhatsApp end (especially Crystal) is quick at answering queries and offering practical advice. Appointments and last-minute changes are often sorted fast, too.

Sadly, a few of their doctors have been flagged for not-so-friendly behaviour, which is the last you’d want from a healthcare provider.

Jaga-Me’s prices aren’t for every budget either. We think the hourly rates, especially for weekend/holiday services, could be a bit lower.

To be fair, most clients say positive things about the actual service, with lots gushing about how carers normally turn up within an hour post-booking.

“The caregiver is skilled” is another point many highlight. No surprises there, since they hire certified pros with at least one year of experience.

Elderly care is Helpling’s speciality. You can tell from their client base, which mostly consists of seniors who’ve stayed for two years or more.

It’s staff like Wut and Roan who make it happen. Many find them effective and patient, especially when it comes to mobility, toileting, and chore support.

Boosting the appeal further are the prices. On average, elderly care here only runs for $21 an hour, no matter the day.

We’d call the rates of other services fair, too. Home cleaning, for instance, costs $23–$30 per hour, with the job carried out by hotel workers with over 200 hours of experience (these maid agencies also have seasoned cleaners).

The weak point? While they provide basic medical support, it’s best to look elsewhere if you need nurses for complex procedures.

Helpline may not be the top pick for urgent bookings either. They’re a busy lot, with a bespoke matching process that can take a while.

Homage is a sensible call for those who value awards. One worth noting is their Elderly Care Innovation Awards win in 2018.

You might also favour them if you’re after a massive provider. Over 15,000 caregivers, nurses, doctors, and therapists make up their workforce.

And yes, that means Homage’s scope is as holistic as they come, ticking home, nursing, and specialised care, as well as home therapy.

What gets praised often is the specialised range. Based on our chats, patients with dementia or Parkinson’s saw positive results, mainly improved alertness.

Many also gave props to the Home App, and we get the hype. It’s handy for comms, payments, dropping feedback, scheduling, bookings, and more.

Too bad they have a “habit” of cancelling appointments. Several have called them out for that.

Another issue often raised is the slow email response. Not everyone has the patience to wait for a week.

What separates Active Global from the rest is their Live-In Caregiver service (which these agencies specialise in). Unlike the majority of providers, this one has round-the-clock support for seniors to go along with medical and home care offerings.

The great thing is, we didn’t find gripes about it. One common remark is how quickly the aides build rapport and adjust to a patient’s routine or needs, especially those with dementia or recovering from a stroke.

Much of that comes from their strict matching process, often involving CV reviews and in-person/phone interviews.

Henry Ng (the case consultant) is one reason the method is a success. You can usually depend on him for explanations, documents, urgent requests, post-office services, and follow-ups.

A snag is the cost of elderly care. The hourly rate can hit $62, which is noticeably above the typical Singapore rate.

Some of Active Global’s foreign caregivers also received heat for having trouble with directions.

Ms. Nisha has been providing home nursing care for my mother for about a year, and we are extremely thankful for her dedication and compassion. She is very kind, patient and attentive, and she always takes the time to thoroughly examine my elderly mother during each visit. Her bedside manner is excellent and reassuring. We especially value the detailed WhatsApp report she sends after every visit, clearly outlining my mother’s vitals, noting any concerning symptoms, and advising us on appropriate follow-up steps.
